Despite being heavily into post production on his latest movie X-Men: Apocalypse, American director Bryan Singer has posted via Instagram the covering page of the script for his next movie, an adaptation of Jules Vernes classic adventure tale 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea...
bryanjaysinger It's my 50th birthday (ouch), and I just put the finishing touches on the script for my next film. A story I've wanted to retell since childhood. I promise this will be an epic and emotional adventure for all ages! An adventure very dear to my heart. Not abandoning the #xmen universe. Very excited about #xmenapocalypse and beyond. #julesverne#20000leaguesunderthesea #nemo
Singer, as you can see has co-wrote the screenplay with writers Rick Sordelet and Dan Studney. Studney has co-written movies such as Reefer Madness, Jack the Giant Slayer and Genius, whereas it appears that Rick Sordelet is a widely recognized fight co-ordinator.
How close Singer, Sordelet and Studney's screenplay will be to Jules Vernes original novel obviously remains to be seen, and the movie will be hard pressed to surpss the wonder that is Walt Disneys 1954 classic starring Kirk Douglas, James Mason, Paul Lukas and Peter Lorre. And lets hope this is a return to form from Singer - More Usual Suspects, less Superman Returns!
