James Bond has had many notorious and classic villians throughout his various missions. Many of them have been iconic and memorable due to their various features or gimmicks. M16-Hq has confirmed that production is looking for a "physically imposing" henchman, that they describe as 'physically fit' as well as oveer 6'2. The website goes on to say that he will have a driving sequence and numerous fight scenes with 007. His nickname is being reported as 'Hinx' and is given an age of 30-45 years old. They report that the goal is to discover a henchmen different enough that he will grow to be iconic in his own right.
Our take on this is that this news is extremely intriguing. Daniel Craig's Bond is known for being more realistic, so this is a return to a 'classic' style for James Bond complete with a villain nickname. It appears that this villain will be a worthy opponent for James Bond, one who will test his physical strength and the limits of his cunning.
The direction this may indicate for the franchise is also extremely interesting. This was foreshadowed in Skyfall with a golden aston martin and the return of 'Q' and 'Moneypenny', but this is a more direct attempt to evoke the previous James Bond movies. Time will tell if this is the only callback to Bond Movies of old, or if Bond 24 will have more homages to the previous movies.
mi6-hq.com is also reporting that filming for production starts in December, and will run onto June both in Pinewood studios and on Location. Our take is that this is a shooting schedule of six to seven months, which means that the film should be finished about 3 months before the film premieres in theaters. That should give it enough time for post-production while marketing begins for Bond 24.
