The box-office success of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story proved that Star wars spinoffs could be accepted by audiences. The next spinoff to be greenlit is a Han Solo movie currently being directed by Chris Miller and Phil Lord. Beyond that, no other plans for standalone Star Wars movies are known. A Boba Fett movie was under consideration, until the director famously split the project at the last minute.
However a new report seems to suggest that the film is still on track for a theatrical release. Omega Underground first discovered a production listing on the website MyEntertainment world, that would indicate this.
The listing does not indicate a release date for the film, nor does it have a title yet. This listing may be a placeholder indicating that the studio still has plans for the movie to be produced. The film may need a replacement director before it can move forward towards a theatrical release.
LucasFilm continuing forward with this project seems likely, given that Boba Fett is one of the most highly recognizable characters in the franchise. His standalone movie being discontinued does not preclude his character from appearing elsewhere, such as the Han Solo film. As that film still has not disclosed much of its cast, Boba Fett appearing is not out of the realm of possibility.
What do you think? Would you like to see a Boba Fett movie?
