Its hard not be impressed by the acting prowess of Academy award winning Puerto Rican actor Benicio del Toro. Though many fans will recognise him from his recent appearances within the MCU (Thor: The Dark World and Guardians of the Galaxy) as The Collector, del Toro has enjoyed great success in movies such as The Usual Suspects, Snatch, Sin City and Traffic; the latter of which earned him his Academy award for best supporting actor. In 2010 del Toro also appeared in the remake of 1941 classic The Wolfman, alongside acting heavyweights Anthony Hopkins, Hugo weaving and Emily Blunt before Universal Studios announced it was to relaunch its back catalogue of "Monster Movies" as a shared universe.
Recently we covered rumors that del Toro was under the watchful eyes of Disney and Lucasfilm for a possible villainous role in Rian Johnson's Star Wars: Episode VIII, which is scheduled for a May 26th, 2017 release. Speaking in a recent podcast (translated by StarWars7News), del Toro confirmed that he will indeed be joining the cast of Star Wars: Episode VIII...
Interviewer: And are you going to shoot something after that?
Benicio Del Toro: "No, just… *pause* Star Wars is coming up, we will see how that turns out. I think we start shooting in March."
Interviewer: And what’s your role in this new Star Wars chapter?
Benicio: "Ehhh…. the thing is…. They don’t let me talk too much about it, I’m like the villain."
Interviewer: Oh wow!
Benicio: "But…. we’ll see…*laughs*"
