The crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise will soon med up with the Green Lantern Corps in a brand new comic book crossover event coming this July from IDW Publishing, CBS Consumer Products and DC Entertainment.
Entitled Star Trek/Green Lantern: The Spectrum War, the six part comic book miniseries will feature a story from veteran comic writer Mike Johnson, with art by Angel Hernández.
“We’ve looked forward to bringing these two iconic universes together for a long time,” said Greg Goldstein, IDW President and COO. “Star Trek and Green Lantern both share so many of the same science-fiction adventure themes and ideals, that a galaxy-spanning crossover like this is simply ... logical."
The story will take place in the 23rd Century and readers should expect certain members of the Enterprise crew to dawn power rings when the Green Lantern Corps and Federation join forces to combat a common foe.
“Green Lantern is one of the most popular, storied characters in the history of comic books and a modern DC Comics icon," said Bob Harras, Editor-in-Chief of DC Comics. "An entire universe of Green Lanterns and other supporting characters have grown out from his original adventures in the 1940’s, and this series really showcases the intergalactic scope of the franchise."
Fans will recall that this is not the first time the comic giants at DC and IDW have joined forces. Back in 2011, Star Trek teamed up with the Legion of Super-Heroes, a time-traveling team from the 30th and 31st centuries of the DC Comics universe.
Look for the miniseries to hit this coming July.
