Tell how much camp you can tolerate by using the Godzilla movies as a scale, Godzilla’s Revenge being the highest and Godzilla 1954 being the lowest.

Depends on how it's executed.

In a film series as serious and grounded as the Monsterverse, the anime trilogy, or the 2016 standalone, campy fun should be restricted to smaller moments of brevity to break up the pace; they shouldn't be a primary focus.

Now, if you get into less serious stuff? You can start experimenting a bit.

Campiness is an integral part of the series at this point, not representative of each individual film, but a staple of the series as a whole. I embrace it. It's part of Godzilla and the series has done well to use it to its advantage.

Yeah, it also depends on how it's executed for me, as well.

A little camp is good. A lot of movies today are campy, but are self-aware, I prefer movies with camp that play it completely straight, a good example being the movie Jupiter Ascending which is a bad film but very entertaining because of how silly it is

Hedorah is in my top 5, so I can take it all or none of it. It mainly depends on how well the story is written.

I don't necessarily need a super-serious Godzilla movie. The human characters can crack some jokes and have humor. I'm fine with that. But whether serious or campy, the producers and director must always treat Godzilla with respect and not simply reduced him to a piece of joke.

There should be some amount of camp with an established franchise imo. I think we need a release valve at times to remind us that it is entertainment after all.

Well, I personally can appreciate camp in G Movies (earlier in my life I pretended to hate most of the Showa Series for it’s campiness to act cool.), but I do have my limits. Really campy ones: King Kong vs Godzilla, Ghidorah the Three Headed Monster, Invasion of Astro Monster, Son of Godzilla, Godzilla vs Gigan, Godzilla vs Megalon, and Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla 1974 I really enjoy. The only ones I couldn’t tolerate were Godzilla’s Revenge and Godzilla vs Hedorah, I think they went a little overboard.

Although it is undeniably a part of the history and lore of the series overall, it's not something I'm a big fan of as an adult. Some of my early sentimental faves, (KKVsG, Ghidorah, Monster Zero) have some of the goofier moments but again, I have a soft spot in my heart for them, so they get a bit of a Mulligan. Dancing Godzilla is difficult for me to sit through at this point, but I still love Monster Zero. As a young boy I loved Godzilla any way I could get him; terrifying wraith, ant-hero, cute and Muppet-looking. Didn't really matter. But at some point, the sillier movies kind of went by the boards for me. I've watched them all, and for many, once was enough, and I don't need to revisit them. I'm not opposed to humor in these movies, or giving the monsters some semblance of personality, but when they turn them into buffoons that's the line for me.
