THE DINOSAUR

Mountains; Near Vancouver, Canada

The miners covered their ears as the explosion shook the mountains. Once the dust cleared, they stared in awe at what was revealed. Trapped in a massive glacier was a ninety meter tall dinosaur. However, only the head had been uncovered so far. It would be a couple hours before the entire body would be excavated. Its gargantuan jaws were frozen open, its yellow eyes looking forward. Dr. Victoria Smith presumed it had been chasing some other massive creature, kaiju, as they were called, and got trapped underground.

“What is it?” Another scientist from M.A.P.L, the Monster Attack Prevention League, asked. In the nearly two years since the Battle of Coronado, where monsters Godzilla, Mothra, and Rodan joined forces against the space dragon Ghidorah, the organization had been sent out to find and possibly exterminate kaiju.

“It’s been dubbed Gorosaurus.” Dr. Smith answered as she took a picture of the dig site.

“So what’ll we do with it?” He asked.

“Probably move it to the site of the new project.” Dr. Smith replied. The scientist wondered what this new project was. He didn’t know of many of the organization’s new projects except for the Super-X and the Maser project. He had seen glimpses of the paperwork for other projects, such as something called “Biollante.” Only the leaders of the organization knew what it was. All that he knew was the organization had purchased an island somewhere in the Indo-Pacific area. He forgot about it as he heard the boom of another explosion, revealing the dinosaur’s small arms. They looked small compared to the rest of the body, but they were at least thirty or forty feet long.

“Any news on the current kaiju?” Another scientist asked.

“Godzilla hasn’t been sighted in a few months. Mothra returned to Izu Oshima, and Rodan returned to central Japan. Anguirus hasn’t shown up again.” Dr. Smith replied. The organization had been keeping track of the monsters the best they could. However, the Manda team had the hardest job. The elusive sea dragon rarely surfaced and travelled all around the Pacific. The last sighting had been in the Aleutian Islands just a few weeks ago. Dr. Smith looked up as helicopters began to near the site. Only four had arrived so far, but a few more were expected. Lifting the giant dinosaur and carrying it across the Pacific wouldn’t be an easy task. Nothing the group did had been easy. It only seemed to get harder upon complications with the new projects and the discoveries, and occasionally attacks, of new monsters.

MASER PROGRAM

Kimitsu, Japan

A crumbling sound echoed throughout the middle of the city of Kimitsu, Japan. Seconds later, something crawled out of the ground. It let out a screech as the dust began to clear. The citizens ran away as the ankylosaur-esque creature looked around. A few began to shout its name- Angilas, or Anguirus, as it was known as in English. It slowly began to move, towering over the buildings at forty meters tall. It lumbered through the city on all fours, occasionally turning its head to look at or sniff something. He appeared to be completely healed from his fight with Godzilla two years prior.

Anguirus moved through the city, not heading towards any destination in particular. He smashed through the buildings, creating a path of destruction. Eventually, he stood up and looked around, seeing Tokyo Bay in the distance. He dropped back town to a quadrupedal stance and changed course, lumbering towards the ocean.

The two Type 92 Maser Cannons drove through the streets of Kimitsu, heading towards their target. Surrounding them was an escort of six Type 10 tanks. The vehicles eventually saw Anguirus in the distance and quickly opened fire. He turned his head as the guns and rockets exploded against his arms and neck. The Maser Cannons opened fire, releasing bright blue beams from the guns on top. Anguirus roared in pain as the beams made contact with his skin. He charged the cannons, which moved back as the tanks opened fire on the monster. Anguirus stopped and screeched in pain as the Masers fired again. He swept his forelimbs at the tanks, destroying one.

The rest of the tanks and Maser Cannons moved back as Anguirus continued to advance. The vehicles opened fire again, but Anguirus continued forward, smashing two more tanks and a Maser Cannon. The rest of the convoy fired at Anguirus, forcing him back. As Anguirus stepped forward, a group of Apache AH-64 helicopters fired. Anguirus grunted in surprise and looked up. The crew of the vehicles took advantage of the situation and fired at the monster’s neck. Anguirus looked down and swept a forelimb at the convoy. The tanks and Maser Cannon barely escaped as Anguirus destroyed the nearby buildings. As the vehicles moved back, Anguirus began to lumber towards Tokyo Bay. The helicopters continued to fire, but the missiles were ineffectual against his spiked carapace.

Two more Maser Cannons, along with four Type 10 tanks, two Type 87 Reconnaissance Vehicles, and an M270 Multiple Launch Rocket System, awaited the monster’s arrival near the edge of the city. As soon as the military saw him, the M270 MLRS opened fire and was quickly joined by the tanks. Anguirus charged forward as the vehicles pulled out of his direction. As he slowed, the Maser Cannons fired, along with the rest of the vehicles. Anguirus screeched as the military bombarded him once more. He swept his claws and tail around before retreating into Tokyo Bay.

“What?” Dr. Smith asked as she stared out of the helicopter window. She had been with the group of helicopters transporting the massive chunk of ice containing Gorosaurus when she received the call that Anguirus had escaped. “Where’s Dr. Johnson?”

“He’s here at the HQ. We were told to notify all Team Leaders.” The woman on the other end of the radio replied. M.A.P.L. was made up of several divisions, one for each monster, and it was a rule to notify all of them when a monster attacked.

“How did the Masers do?” Dr. Smith asked.

“One was destroyed. The three others deployed are fine.” The woman answered, “They seemed to really hurt him, more than the conventional weaponry did.”

“Do we know where he is now?”

“He escaped into Tokyo Bay ten minutes ago. He hasn’t resurfaced since, although the alarms have been sounded in the surrounding areas. A small naval patrol is being sent out to look for him.”

                “Is that all?”

“Yes.” The woman answered as Dr. Smith shut the radio off. In the distance, she could barely see the island in the distance. Gorosaurus was to be the first inhabitant of this new Monster Island.

CONFERENCE

M.A.P.L. Headquaters- Tokyo, Japan; Minato Ward

The group leaders sat in the conference room, along with a few politicians. After Anguirus’ attack and the first use of Maser weapons, the official revelation of just what the organization had was to be held. The group leaders watched as two men in suits entered the room. Akira Sakaki and John Edwards glanced at the group and turned on a projector. After the events two years prior, John had switched to the new Weapons Division and quickly rose to prominence. Akira shut off the lights as the first image appeared.

“What you are staring at here is the second product of our weapons division.” He announced.

“We call it the Super-X.” John added, “It’s like a fighter jet on steroids.” He glanced at the image of the massive, green fighter jet. “In addition to standard missiles, it’s equipped with a Maser cannon on the nose and cadmium shells, which we theorize might be effective against kaiju And, with a wingspan of 38.5 meters, it is quite an impressive addition to our anti-kaiju arsenal.” He pressed a button, moving to the next slide. He glanced at it, noticing the crocodilian snout and tendrils with mouths at the end, similar to a Venus flytrap.

“This is an experimental project, caused by the splicing of plant DNA and some of Godzilla’s cells found after his battle with Ghidorah.” Akira said, “We call her Biollante. She is currently being kept at her own facility at a currently undisclosed location.” He paused, allowing the audience to stare at the pictures of the creature being held in the chamber.

“Our last project is something you all are at least somewhat familiar with.” John announced. He pressed a button, changing the image to that of a half-robotic dragon.

“This is Mecha-Ghidorah.” Akira said, “We took Ghidorah’s carcass, and after two long years of work and multiple financial donations, were able to create the greatest weapon this planet has ever seen. It has all of Ghidorah’s abilities and more, such as a machine hand in the abdomen capable of electrical discharges.” The lights slowly turned back on.

“Does anybody have any questions?” John asked.

“How do we know Biollante will fight for us?” Someone asked.

“We keep her dormant with low temperatures and will release her when a kaiju approaches. It’s all a work in progress.” John answered.

“How do you control the Mecha-Ghidorah? Doesn’t it have two heads left?” Someone else asked.

“We have found out that the middle head is the dominant head. When it was taken out, the dragon had difficulties moving itself. Additionally, it was already dead from organ damage and blood loss.” Akira answered. Suddenly, a man burst into the room.

                “What is it?” John asked.

“Godzilla! He’s resurfaced!” The man answered.

SUPER-X

(Want to listen to something while you read? Click here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3B9xPGIUPJE)

Hamamatsu, Japan

Godzilla stared at the ocean’s surface, slowly turning his head. Seeing nothing unusual on the calm, blue surface, he turned around, facing the city of Hamamatsu, Japan. He stepped towards it, slowly closing the gap of a few hundred feet separating him and the city. He quickly heard the blaring alarms he had grown accustomed to hearing upon nearing urban areas.

Something brushed against his tail. Godzilla quickly turned around and snarled. He looked around, not seeing anything. Suddenly, he noticed something just below the water’s surface. He kicked it and immediately heard a screech. A massive, red pincher rose above the surface. Godzilla quickly recognized it as Ebirah, the giant crustacean he had been fighting minutes ago underwater. The giant crustacean charged Godzilla, causing him to slightly stumble back. As he beat Godzilla with his giant pinchers, eventually grabbing Godzilla’s arms. Godzilla’s dorsal spines began to glow bright blue. Ebirah, knowing what Godzilla’s glowing dorsal spines meant, let go of Godzilla and swam off, attempting to dodge the attack. Godzilla fired, grazing Ebirah.

Ebirah screeched in pain as the blast charred his skin. He attempted to swim off, but he felt something grab his tail. It was Godzilla. Ebirah swam faster, attempting to escape Godzilla’s grasp. After a short struggle, Godzilla let go. Ebirah swam off, but quickly felt something burn his tail. Godzilla had fired his Atomic Breath again. Godzilla grunted as the giant crustacean swam off.

The Super-X flew across the sky, approaching a speed of nearly nine hundred miles per hour. It quickly approached the city of Hamamatsu. From an elevation of a few hundred feet, the pilots could clearly see Godzilla. The King of the Monsters was standing still. The pilots took the chance and darted towards Godzilla. They quickly fired missiles at him before slowing down. The Super-X flew in wide circles around him. Godzilla let out an agitated roar as the missiles exploded against his thick, gray skin. The vehicle quickly pulled out as Godzilla’s dorsal spines began to turn bright blue. Godzilla fired his Atomic Breath, but missed his target.

A compartment rose up from the top of the vehicle. A second later, two cadmium missiles were launched at Godzilla. He roared and flailed his arms, attempting to hit the Super-X. Four more cadmium missiles were launched as the massive fighter jet flew past Godzilla. The missiles hit his head, two detonating in his mouth. The Super-X quickly turned around, firing regular missiles at his back. Godzilla swung his tail, but the vehicle dodged the attack. Godzilla fired a quick blast of his Atomic Breath, grazing the Super-X. The pilots returned to flying in wide circles, occasionally glancing at the furious King of the Monsters. They quickly flew in a straight line once more, heading farther away from land. Godzilla turned around and followed them.

Once there was about a thousand feet in between the Super-X and Godzilla, the vehicle slowed down and turned around. The maser cannon on the massive fighter jet’s nose opened up. Seconds later, two more cadmium missiles were launched at Godzilla’s head. Godzilla roared in pain as the maser cannon hit his chest. The cadmium missiles made contact with his face. Godzilla grunted as he shut his eyes and mouth. The Super-X quickly turned as it got dangerously close to the King of the Monsters. He growled as it approached it and lazily swung his arm.

“The cadmium appears to be working.” Pilot Ishiro Fukuda said. As the ship slowed down, the pilots watched as Godzilla lumbered farther out into the ocean, his head lowered.

“What’s that?” Sam Williams, another pilot, asked as he pointed to something moving in the water about a hundred feet from Godzilla.

“It looks like a giant shrimp.” Ishiro replied.

“That’s Ebirah.” Someone on the radio said, “It’s almost infamous for attacking ships and sometimes coastal settlements as Manda. Fire at will.” Seconds later, the crew bombarded the creature with missiles and the maser cannon. Ebirah screeched in pain and attempted to swim off. However, he quickly stopped moving. The Super-X fired for a few more seconds as the monster sunk beneath the ocean.

“I think that might be the first time we’ve killed a kaiju.” Sam said. The crew celebrated for a few moments before glancing at Godzilla. He had already begun to swim off and only the top of his dorsal plates were visible. The victorious crew turned around and began their flight back to Tokyo.

“Change of plans.” Someone on the radio said, “Rodan’s just been spotted approaching southern Japan.”

THE PLANT MONSTER

Lake Ashi; Southern Japan

Rodan flew above the mountains of southern Japan, searching for a new nest. He scanned the forests, but at a height of about a thousand feet above the ground, everything looked the same to him. Suddenly, something caught his eye- tendrils were shooting out of the ground. He swooped down towards them. He quickly flew back as a massive, green, crocodilian head rose from the ground and let out a roar that sounded almost like a whale.

(Want to listen to something while you read? Click here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BA_R52-zAoQ)

Rodan circled above the plant monster as it looked around. It appeared to be more interested in its surroundings than him. It slowly looked up, noticing him. The plant monster gave a threatening bellow and shot a green glob from its mouth. Rodan screeched in surprise and swooped down. As he slashed the monster with his talons, it attempted to grab him with the mouths at the end of its tendrils.

*     *     *     *     *

“How’s she doing?” Akira Sakaki asked into a radio.

“She just attacked Rodan. She’s a bit more aggressive than we thought she’d be.” A woman on the other end answered. Akira knew Biollante would be aggressive when he ordered her development. She was partially made from Godzilla’s cells. He figured she would be nearly as strong as Godzilla himself. The rose cells were added to increase her regeneration abilities and make her vulnerable to the cold, which was how the group contained her. However, a few of her abilities were still a mystery.

*     *     *     *     *

Rodan screeched in pain as the glob of radioactive sap hit his chest. He flapped his wings, desperately trying to free himself from Biollante’s grasp. She had tendrils wrapped around his legs and was attempting to grab his neck. Eventually, Rodan pulled himself free, ripping two of Biollante’s tendrils off. He listened to Biollante’s bellows as she flailed the stumps around. Rodan took the chance to attack, slashing her back with his talons. He dodged the tendrils as they snapped at him. Biollante shot another blast of radioactive sap, hitting Rodan. He screeched in pain as the sap burned his flesh. He circled around her again, looking for the next best area to strike.

Biollante watched as the giant pterosaur circled around her. She occasionally growled and snapped the mouths at the end of her remaining tendrils, hoping to scare him off. Rodan flew faster, and eventually Biollante lost track of him. She began to move, looking around her new surroundings. She inched towards Lake Ashi, testing if the water was safe. As she quickly lost interest in the battle during the next couple minutes, she noticed something speeding towards her.

Rodan sped towards Biollante at a speed of Mach 2. As she attempted to grab him, he extended his legs like an eagle getting ready to grab its prey. His sharp talons made contact with the orange mass on her abdomen. She raised her head bellowed in pain and surprise as Rodan’s talons tore through her skin. Radioactive sap began to spill from her mouth and the hole. Rodan, sensing Biollante was injured, jabbed at her neck with his beak. Despite the immense pain, she was able to swing her crocodilian head at the giant pterosaur, forcing him off of her. She managed to fire a short, weak blast of radioactive sap at the downed pterosaur, burning his wings and chest.

*     *     *     *     *

Akira, John, and Dr. Smith watched on the screens as the battle concluded. Both monsters were visibly injured.

“Looks like a stalemate.” John said.

“How will we get Biollante to the containment facility?” Dr. Smith asked.

“We have a variety of systems in place. Pheromones, calls, Maser cannons-“ Before Akira could finish his response, John cut him off.

“What’s going on?” John asked, pointing to the screen. Biollante appeared to be dissolving. The three watched with great confusion as the plant monster slowly turned into a cloud of gold spores. The cloud floated up into the skies and disappeared. Rodan also disappeared, flying off into the mountains.

“Should we send some fighter jets after him?” Dr. Smith proposed.

“He shouldn’t cause any trouble up there.” John replied.

“So the development of Biollante was a waste of money?” Dr. Smith said.

“To be fair, we had no idea she could do that.” Akira replied.

“I have to take her side on this one.” John added, “Merging anything with Godzilla’s cells was too ambitious of an idea. Besides, the Super-X and Mecha-Ghidorah are fully operational.”

“It hasn’t even been tested.” Dr. Smith said.

“I’m sure we can find something somewhere to test it on.” John replied.

“We can wake up Gojira.” Akira proposed.

“That’s a bit dangerous for a test.” Dr. Smith replied.

“The Pacific is teeming with monsters- Manda, Godzilla, maybe another Kamoebas, just to name a few. I’m sure something’s bound to show up.”

GIANT INSECTS

Papua New Guinea

(Want to listen to something while you read? Click here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rCZn312Jkbs)

The giant mantis descended from the mountainous regions of Papua New Guinea upon the city of Lae. As it looked around, it was quickly joined by two other identical monsters. The trio quickly began their raid, crushing any building that stood in their way. They moved around, clearing the smoke with their massive forelimbs. After a few minutes of destruction, the three found nothing worth their interest. They took flight once more, heading inland. They soon reached the town of Bulolo and landed. They searched the town, destroying everything under them. After completely destroying the town, they moved to the surrounding jungles. Finding nothing, they took flight once more.

For the next hour, the forty meter tall insects slowly made their way south, decimating a few towns and villages along the way. Soon, they began to follow a river and eventually reached the coast. There, they moved east, destroying a couple towns along the way. Eventually, they reached the capital city, Port Moresby. The giant mantis trio quickly began their assault, as they had been doing to the past few villages. A few minutes later, a shadow passed over them. One of the giant mantises turned around and screeched at what landed before it.

“Kamacuras trio; they’ve been attacking Papua New Guinea for about an hour.” Pilot Ian Kennedy said, staring out of the viewport in the ultimate war machine, Mecha-Ghidorah. He smiled as he pressed a button, causing the cyborg to let out a threatening roar. He pressed three buttons, activating the biological heads’ Gravity Beams and the Triple Laser Beam from the mechanical head. The blast quickly killed the first Kamacuras. The two others shrieked angrily and flew at the cyborg dragon.

Co-pilot Ishiro Fukuda moved a few levers, activating Mecha-Ghidorah’s capture cables. The cords ensnared one of the giant mantises while the middle and right heads fought the second. The left head fired a blast of its Gravity Beams, hitting the captured insect in the head. The pilots released the injured Kamacuras and moved another lever, causing the cyborg to step on the Kamacuras, crushing it. During the battle, the second mantis had escaped.

“Where’s the last one?” Ian asked. Mecha-Ghidorah turned around as the pilots searched the area. Finally, they spotted it flying off. The cyborg took flight, pursuing the last giant mantis. With the Gravity Beams and Triple Laser Beam, the last remaining Kamacuras was quickly killed. The pilots continued their flight around the island, searching for more monsters. Suddenly, something was shot at the cyborg.

                “Looks like silk.” Ishiro noted.

                “Mothra?” Ian proposed.

“She does not live this far south.” Ishiro replied.

“We should probably land before the wings get caught.” Ian replied. Mecha-Ghidorah quickly landed in the jungle as the pilots looked around. After a couple minutes, the camera on the right head spotted something.

“Is that a giant spider?” Ian asked.

“Yes; it’s Kumonga.” Ishiro replied. The giant spider shot another blast of silk at the cyborg. The pilots retaliated with the dragon’s beams. Kumonga backed off a bit, but quickly shot more silk. As the cyborg advanced, Kumonga suddenly lunged at it. She batted at the heads with her legs and attempted to inject venom into it. However, the metal abdomen was too strong for the monster to break through.

Ian pressed a button, launching the capture cables. They wrapped around the spider’s legs, preventing her from backing off. Ishiro pressed the button under it. A massive claw came out of the cyborg’s abdomen, grabbing the spider just below the head. Ishiro flipped a switch, sending an electrical discharge into the giant spider. Kumonga screeched in pain as she was shocked by the attack. As the claw and cables released him, she fell to the ground.

Mecha-Ghidorah fired its energy beams again. Kumonga screeched once more and eventually stopped moving. However, the pilots kept firing to confirm the monster was dead. As they slowly took off again, Ian noticed something in a clearing.

                “You see that?” He asked.

“Looks like a giant lizard.” Ishiro noted as he watched the creature.

“What should we do?” Ian asked.

“Watch it from a safe distance. What if it’s a younger Godzilla? We could tame it and raise it to fight for us. With a new Godzilla, we would be safe from giant monsters forever.”

JUNIOR

(Want something to listen to while you read? Click here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OIJnoQEHgYQ)

The pilots watched from Mecha-Ghidorah as the sedated animal was loaded into the Boeing CH-47 Chinook helicopter. After exterminating the giant mantises and spider, the pilots found the bipedal, reptilian animal. They notified M.A.P.L. Headquarters in Tokyo of the creature, and a small team was quickly sent out to retrieve it. The creature had only moved a couple hundred feet from where it was first spotted when the helicopter arrived and was quickly located. The helicopter slowly ascended from the forest and headed back to Tokyo.

“How’s he doing?” John Edwards asked.

“We can’t really tell at the moment.” Dr. Smith answered.

“So you said we have an entire facility prepared for an event such as this?” John asked.

“Yes; it was designed to research any type of smaller kaiju, but we never really thought we’d be taking in a relative of Godzilla himself.”

“So we’re just going to assume he won’t break out? Do we even know how strong he is?”

“He’s only around eight feet tall. He can’t cause any damage except for breaking some trees.”

“Do we know if he’s aggressive at all?”

“No; that’s why we’ll take extra precautions when entering the habitat for a few days to see if it tolerates us. Then, we’ll move on to gaining its trust.” Dr. Smith answered. The two were silent for the rest of the flight.

The helicopter soon landed in a park in Tokyo. The creature was transferred to the back of a semi-truck and driven to a warehouse that had been converted into a massive habitat resembling a jungle. A couple scientists watched from a small observatory room while the sleeping creature was carried into the jungle. John and Dr. Smith joined the scientists in the observatory and watched. A few minutes later, the creature slowly woke up. It stood and looked around, glancing at the trees, rock formations, and the pond. It walked to the pond and drank from it.

“Do we know what it eats?” John asked.

“There are a variety of plants and animals in the enclosure with it. We’ll know its diet within a couple days.” A scientist answered.

“What if it feeds off of radiation?” John proposed.

“We have evidence that creatures like Godzilla are mixtrophs. Godzilla has been observed hunting whales. In his recent battle with the giant crustacean Ebirah, we can presume he was hunting him for sustenance.” The scientist replied.

“And what if Godzilla comes to look for him?”

“We have Maser cannons, the Super-X, and Mecha-Ghidorah to combat him. Ghidorah nearly killed Godzilla the first time. We assume with the aid of our new weapons, we would win.”

                “What about his monster friends?”

“They wouldn’t normally work together. They were forced to by the arrival of a common enemy. We found Godzilla when he was fighting Mothra.” The scientist answered. John, having nothing else to add, stayed silent. The group watched the young creature wander around its new home, knowing the small, gentle animal’s identity as the Prince of the Monsters.

Deep beneath the ocean, Godzilla’s eyes opened. He had been resting ever since the Super-X’s cadmium missiles had drained his energy, but he sensed something that awoke him. Even from miles away, he sensed it pass over him. It seemed familiar; it was almost like Godzilla himself. The King of the Monsters slowly got up and swam off, heading towards Tokyo. He occasionally glanced at the animals darting away from him. One of them in the distance looked familiar. Godzilla quickly recognized it as Anguirus.

Godzilla wasn’t the only creature awoken. Mecha-Ghidorah’s battle with the Kamacuras trio and Kumonga had revealed a pile of sludge. Although it appeared normal, it quickly began to grow. A pair of large, red eyes appeared. Within hours, it grew large enough to move.

Tokyo, Japan

An airplane began to move on the runway at the Haneda Airport in the late afternoon. Its speed rapidly picked up as it prepared for liftoff. As it took off, the pilots spotted something in the water approaching the airport. They quickly made out the unmistakable dorsal spines of Godzilla, King of the Monsters. They warned ground control as the monster came closer to land. As Tokyo and the surrounding cities were warned, the following minutes were chaotic. Everyone dropped whatever they were doing and scrambled to escape, even before Godzilla even stepped onto dry land. When Godzilla finally made landfall, he took a moment to observe the familiar city. Half a minute later, he began his advance.

At a height of one hundred meters, the King of the Monsters was able to effortlessly smash his way through the airport. He didn’t care for anything unfortunate enough to be in his way. He didn’t pay attention to the blaring of the alarm. He had a specific task he came to the city for: to find something. As he entered the Ota ward, he sniffed the air again and let out a menacing roar. He continued his advance, crushing everything in his path.

“What should we do?” Someone in M.A.P.L. Headquarters shouted, “He could enter Minato in minutes!”

“It is not he’s after.” Akira Sakaki replied, “He wants the baby. Send out Mecha-Ghidorah. Keep the Super-X and some Maser Cannons ready if we need them. By tonight the King of the Monsters will be kicked off of his throne.”

Mecha-Ghidorah was quickly activated and flown out of its hangar. In the minutes it took to reach Godzilla, the King of the Monsters had already done considerable damage to the city. The pilots fired the cyborg’s beams at Godzilla, getting his attention. Mecha-Ghidorah circled Godzilla for a minute, occasionally firing at him. As Godzilla’s dorsal spines began to glow, the pilots flew towards the Haneda Airport. Godzilla turned around and fired his Atomic Breath at the fleeing cyborg. Mecha-Ghidorah turned, attempting to avoid the blast. Godzilla turned his head as well, grazing Mecha-Ghidorah. He stepped forward, following it.

Mecha-Ghidorah landed at the airport. The pilots waited until Godzilla arrived to continue the battle. Mecha-Ghidorah fired its beams again, hitting Godzilla. Godzilla roared angrily and charged. Mecha-Ghidorah blasted its beams before opening its chest. Cables launched out and grabbed Godzilla’s arms and legs, stopping him. As Godzilla thrashed around, a large claw came out of the cyborg’s chest, clamping around Godzilla’s abdomen. It sent a blast of electricity into him, causing him to roar in pain. Godzilla quickly charged his Atomic Breath and fired a short blast, freeing himself and damaging Mecha-Ghidorah’s interior.

The two backed away from each other and stopped for a moment. Both sides examined each other, planning their next move. Mecha-Ghidorah took the opportunity to fire its beams at Godzilla. The King of the Monsters stepped back as his dorsal spines began to glow once again. He took a deep breath and fired. Mecha-Ghidorah fired its beams immediately after. The two beams collided, creating a mass of energy in the middle. Each monster applied more energy. After a short stalemate, Godzilla began to slowly overpower the cyborg. A little over a minute later, the mass of energy exploded. Godzilla stumbled back as Mecha-Ghidorah lost power. Godzilla charged, slamming into the cyborg. He watched as it fell to the ground and stood still for a few seconds, making sure his opponent would stay down.

Godzilla eventually turned around and reentered the city of Tokyo. He lumbered through the city, slowly approaching the facility keeping Godzilla Junior. Suddenly, he heard the familiar sound of an approaching vehicle in the sky above the blaring of alarms. He quickly spotted the source- the Super-X. It immediately opened fire, shooting four cadmium missiles at his head. Godzilla let out an irritated grunt and swung his arms at the approaching vehicle. It turned, moving around him. Godzilla looked around at the Super-X and approaching Maser Cannons. He knew the cadmium would drain his energy. Before it could take effect, he charged his Atomic Breath one more. Ten seconds later, he took a deep breath and fired. The blast instantly obliterated the approaching Maser Cannons and tanks. He turned his head, burning the buildings around him. Eventually, he closed his mouth and located the Super-X. He fired again, hitting the vehicle.

The king of the Monsters lumbered through the burning Ota ward. Suddenly, something hit his back. He quickly spotted the Super-X fly past him. It had endured his Atomic Breath. As the vehicle fired at him again, he turned around. The skirmish with Mecha-Ghidorah had drained some of his energy, and the cadmium from the Super-X, which was much faster and more agile than Mecha-Ghidorah and himself, would drain even more. He fired a quick blast from his Atomic Breath at the approaching Super-X. He watched as it flew off. Godzilla looked around Tokyo. He would return for the juvenile Godzilla another day. He slowly turned around and walked towards the ocean.

On the island of Papua New Guinea, the pile of sludge had obtained a new form. It looked almost like a flying saucer with two massive, red eyes. It left the island and soon approached more land: Australia.

AUSTRALIA

The smog monster quickly flew across the island and the strait separating Papua New Guinea from Australia, showering the islands below it in toxins and pollutants. It soon entered the northern tip of Australia, moving down the coast. It ravaged the towns and cities below it, consuming any amount of pollutants it could find. Eventually, it reached the largest city it had encountered yet: Townsville. However, the sulfuric mist emitted by the monster slowly began to disintegrate buildings. It occasionally fired red lasers from its eyes, adding to the damage. It payed no attention to the panicking civilians running and screaming below it as it passed over the city. Within minutes, the monster turned the city into little more than a nearly uninhabitable, destroyed wasteland. The monster continued its path through Queensland, leaving a trail of toxic, dead land as it moved, searching for sustenance to power itself.

The workers at M.A.P.L. Headquarters in Tokyo worked diligently with the Headquarters in Sydney, Australia. Although Australia had never had a kaiju attack previously, M.A.P.L. had buildings in nearly every country bordering the Pacific Ocean, where most of the known kaiju came from. A plan was quickly formed: use fighter jets to lead the creature into the desert and see if it would succumb to the climate before engaging in combat again. As the Super-X and Mecha-Ghidorah were being repaired, they were unable to be used.

“How long until the new weapons are repaired?” Dr. Smith asked.

“It’s hard to tell right now. The Super-X isn’t too badly damaged, but Mecha-Ghidorah may take a bit of time to fully reboot, and we still have to analyze what went wrong.” John answered.

“What about Biollante?” Dr. Smith asked.

“We’re not quite sure where she went. I assume she’s either still in the mountains or somewhere in the atmosphere. However, we’re certain she won’t cause any harm.” John replied.

“Godzilla’s been spotted just outside of Tokyo Bay! And Mothra’s flying over the Pacific too!” A worker suddenly shouted.

“There’s the solution!” Dr. Smith shouted.

                “What?” John asked.

“We use the baby as bait to lure Godzilla. He’ll find, and presumably fight, the new monster, dubbed Hedorah. Mothra might follow him as well.” Dr. Smith said.

“And how do we know that’ll work?”

“We both saw what Godzilla did yesterday. Judging by the path he was taking, we can assume he was heading towards Junior. But as a Plan B, we’ll lead him there like we did two years ago. He might also be following Mothra.”

The five FA-18F Super Hornets darted across the sky, heading towards their target. It was easy to find, as the pilots simply had to follow the trail of destruction and pollutants left by Hedorah. They quickly located the monster and opened fire. The missiles did little damage, but they got the monster’s attention. It turned, firing lasers from its eyes at the fighter jets. However, the agile jets were able to dodge the attack. They flew towards the desert as Hedorah pursued them.

Eventually, the pilots were able to successfully lead Hedorah to the hot, dry desert regions of Australia. They began to circle the monster, waiting to see what would happen. Occasionally it fired lasers from its eyes, but nothing else happened to it. A couple minutes later, one of the pilots noticed something golden in the sky heading towards them. The other pilots noticed it as well. They quickly retreated as the golden spores landed and quickly formed into a plant-like creature with a crocodilian head: Biollante.

Biollante bellowed at Hedorah, who quickly fired its Hedorium Light Beams. Biollante quickly shot glowing, radioactive sap at the advancing monster. It suddenly stopped as more pollutants began to cover it. Hedorah appeared to be growing. Within a minute it formed arms, legs, a tail, and a proper head. It stood on its legs and shrieked at Biollante. The two monsters faced each other, preparing for a battle.

Biollante was the first to attack. She charged, attempting to grab Hedorah with her tendrils. However, she was unable to grip the malleable body. Hedorah retaliated by hitting Biollante with its arms. The sludge left on her quickly began to burn through her skin. She bellowed in pain and snapped at Hedorah. She caught the monster’s arm, but was almost instantly forced to let go as it the sludge began to burn her mouth. She moved back as Hedorah fired its Hedorium Light Beams again.

The fighter jets opened fire at the monster in tandem, hoping to generate enough power to defeat it. Most of the missiles were ineffective, except for one that hit the monster’s left eye. It roared in pain and surprise as it shut its eye. Using its free eye, Hedorah fired at the jets as they escaped. As Hedorah opened its eye again, Biollante shot her radioactive sap at the monster’s head.

“Mothra is quickly approaching Australia; Godzilla isn’t too far behind.” Someone at M.A.P.L. Headquarters in Tokyo said.

“Can Biollante fight Hedorah until they arrive?” Dr. Smith said, “They can’t do much damage in the desert!”

“Any news on Junior?” John asked.

“He’s being loaded into a plane as we speak. The plane will take him to Queensland.” Dr. Smith answered. The two glanced at the screens showing the different facilities in Japan. John wondered if their weapons could still stand a chance.

Akira sat in his office, watching Mecha-Ghidorah and the Super-X being repaired. In the time since Godzilla’s attack, Mecha-Ghidorah had been taken back to its hangar and successfully rebooted. The damage wasn’t severe. He was aware of what was happening in Australia, and saw the opportunity to finally defeat the King of the Monsters. He, the pilots, and the engineers knew what went wrong during Mecha-Ghidorah’s fight with Godzilla. In the second round, he believed they would be victorious. He pressed the button that turned on the intercom.

“Ladies and gentlemen, the time has come.” He announced, “We have to take this new opportunity to defeat the monsters that have destroyed so much. Send Mecha-Ghidorah! Send the Super-X! Send everything we have to destroy all monsters!”

I'm liking this so far, SFK. BTW was the scene with Gorosaurus a reference to one of the early script ideas for Godzilla (2014)?

Godzilla... Truly a God incarnate.

SCI-FI KING25 - This was extremely neat! The mention of Gorosaurus and the way in which you presented your characters was mosy fantastic! I liked the dialogue and the way in which the characters spoke of the situation in sober and serious terms! Excellent work! :)

Hey, quick question. Can you please put the link to the preview forum for this one? I forgot which monsters are supposed to appear here (mainly if the Godzilla in this story is the Heisei Godzilla or the Legendary Godzilla).

I'm not sure why most of the pictures are screwed up. But for Godzilla it's the designs and abilities of KiryuGoji, but I upped the size to 100 meters.

Another new chapter. Final battle is starting up (plus a great reference at the end). A new topic will probably be made for the last chapters because topics can only be so long.
