The Alien franchise has different paths to branch off in the future- Xenomorphs, Engineers, AI and humans.

How do you feel about a series that is in the Alien universe but can be episodic in the spirit of Twilight Zone, Outer Limits or the newer Black Mirror?

This could give opportunities for newer actors, writers and directors to make some good sci fi with the only caveat being it would have to stay within the Alien universe.

I think it could work- how about you?

I love the idea. Specially if we get stand alone episodes or 2 part episodes like in the original Star Trek TV series.

I would love that. It could have recurring characters but it would not be required. It would also rid us of the frustrations of waiting for a formal movie that polarizes fans. Seems win/win.

It could be a good thing for up and comers. For instance, Twilight Zone had some folks act who went on to have pretty good careers. Just to name a few: Leonard Nimoy, William Shatner, Telly Savalas and Ron Howard.

Disney, I hope you are listening.

Agreed!! Small budget streaming series based on established franchises are an awesome platform for actors, and you know they will put in a top performance to get themselves noticed. So it's win win!!

In Australia/New Zealand we have Starz Productions who have been taking up and coming actors, and even established TV actors, and getting them exposure on the world stage. They have now completed 2 amazing series in Spartacus and Black Sails.

Fans of Arrow and Chronicles of Shannara might recognise Manu Bennett and his humble beginnings from said series. A great success story right there!!

dk And they should look for real science fiction writers. Star Trek had Theodore Sturgeon, The Twilight Zone had Ray Bradbury... there are some fine sci-fi writers out there nowadays, like Ted Chiang, who wote the story "Arrival" is based on. Fanfiction should be considered too. Actually, it is rumored that the Star Trek NG episode from which Quentin Tarantino got his idea for his Star Trek film was originally based on fanfiction.

Well the original story of Arrival was ripping off (ok, inspired by) Slaughterhouse Five, even Ted Chiang recognized.

I think there is potential....

But we will run into the same problems as the Prequels....

You will get a lot of fans who think ALIEN Franchise = Xenomorphs, Queens and some who think Ripley too..

Doing a TV series about Xenomorphs could run the risk of over showing our Xenomorph and cooking it, i think we need to look at the WALKING DEAD it started off as a Zombie Apocalypse  but there is only so much Zombie Flesh Eating you can do before it becomes Stale, which is where the WD introduces us to other threats...

And so with a Alien Franchise, Ultimately its the WHY that would be more interesting than just Face Huggers jumping out of Eggs and Xenomorphs Exploding out of Bodies.   The Sinister Actions and Agenda of the Company is always interesting to explore... likewise the ideas behind WHO/WHY the Xenomorph was created was more interesting.

I do think Streaming etc would be good for EXPANDED universe ideas though, but some would still think any movie related to the Alien Universe has to be about Xenomorphs.

TV-series? Maybe it could work, I am not sure but I guess that it is alright to try something new. If they do not show the Xeno too much then yeah perhaps, the focus got to be one the humans.

The writers need to understand science fiction and horror, they also need how to write characters. If they get those parts right then I think that the result could actually be something good. We have not had a good alien related thing since 1992, at least that is how I look at it.

I think based at a human colony on some distant world and done in a similar way to falling skies but its engineers or a more ruthless race above the engineers using an older, more controllable version of the xeno to wipe us out. would also def need to see more creatures

A tv series would totally cremate the xenomorph and dilute the alien universe. I don't expect anything better than Alien Resurrection or Stargate featuring engineers.

But I watched again Alien and really want to see how Ridley Scott would link the prequels to it. If they make this film I don't need anything more.
