Jon Hamm plays "Walter", an Artificial Intelligence who learns from a real person's memories to become more human in "Marjorie Prime", another proof that the ideal medium for thoughtful, adult sci-fi is independent cinema. Hamm's performance is at times very reminiscent of Michael Fassbender's character. A highly recommended movie that would probably need a second viewing to fully absorb.

This looks really good. It appears to be on Amazon- no Netflix. Looks to be worth $4.00 though.

I agree that the independent films can be great in that they can take chances without the shackles of profit minded movie studios.

dk There is a scene between Tim Robbins and Jon Hamm that stood out. I kinda imagine what the Alien Covenant introduction would have been if it was Walter and not David interacting with Weyland. And this is not a scary depiction of the AI, we don't get that cliche here. Acting was top notch with no exceptions, and the score was so beautiful. I don't understand why this movie is not getting some Oscar buzz. The director previously made a documentary about Hampton Fancher, writer of both Blade Runner movies, so there is that connection too.

Yes but this looks similar to that episode from season 2 of Black Mirror.

Superficially, it reminds me a bit of Bicentennial Man just a bit and that is a good thing. I imagine this might explore what it is to be human and perhaps the AI demonstrating more humanity than people? Just a guess.

It also reminds me to check out Black Mirror.

red0guy Watch it, you won't regret it. Have some handerchiefs handy just in case. This movie was under the radar, but thanks to rottentomatoes (they are not always evil), I discovered it today. It was the #5 best reviewed sci-fi flick of the year and deservedly so.

dk The bicentennial man, yes, it could be. However, AIs here are incorporeal. And by the way, this movie does not over explain things, so you need to pay close attention. There are surprises, and the ending was very satisfying, however it is not what it seems.

red0guy- The series is from the 90s but the newer Outer Limits have some really good AI episodes,

Bits of Love or Valerie 23 to name just two.

Seems interesting, does seem a bit of a rip off of David/Walter as in i wonder if they used the Synthetics as Inspiration?

I've watched the movie, it's nothing like anything like the androids, and the movie was first presented a year ago at Sundance and is based on play (of all things...)

Without doubt, Jon Hamm has some personal features that make him difficult to fully absorb...
