MemberNeomorphSep-19-2017 10:33 AMnow obviously no one can speak for the man but just going by interviews, the feel of starbeast etc, what do u think Dan O'Bannon's reaction would be to the prequel series? do u think he would approve of the theorised path that RS is going to take us down concerning the xeno?

First, the egg, which is tended by third-stage adults and housed in a lower chamber of the breeding temple. When ready to hatch, the egg is placed in the middle of a sacrificial stone and a lower animal, the equivalent of an Alien cow, is then led to the stone. Sensing the warmth, the face-hugger springs out, attaches itself to the animal and deposits a fetus in the stomach. The face-hugger soon drops off and the fetus develops inside, eventually chewing its way out and killing its host. This creature, the chest-burster, is the Alien’s second stage, and it simply runs about eating, mindlessly carnivorous. At this stage the creature is still controlled and nurtured by adult Aliens, until the chest-burster begins losing appendages and becomes more and more harmless. Finally, its bloodlust gone, the Alien becomes a mild, intelligent creature, capable of art and architecture, which lives a full, scholarly life of 200 years.”
I like how the article quoted above (see Alien Origins - Alternate Xenomorph Mythos Revealed! here) summarizes Dan O'Bannon's original xenomorph plans really nice ali81.
I believe Dan O'Bannon would be thrilled with the prequels. Not just because I how I feel about the prequels (wonderful) but due to how the lower organisms are affected in both movies (Prometheus and Alien: Covenant) and they then quickly evolve into terror-inducing nightmares.
Dan O'Bannon may have really latched on to the scholarly life of the xenomorph and could have thought that the prequels are trash. David 8 took on a scholarly life that may have comforted O'Bannon though.

MemberDeaconOct-04-2017 2:27 PMIndeed that indeed was O'Bannons Plans...
The Creature however also looked different at this Stage, it was only when the Draft was being re-wrote that O'Bannon came across HR Gigers work and handed it to Ridley Scott and then RS was Instantly Sold on the Idea.
I think O'Bannon would be kind of pleased with the Prequels... well Prometheus...
When i was working on my Prometheus 2, the main idea i had for the Engineers was to indeed bring in the Annunaki Tale of Sorts with O'Bannons ideas and Merge the TWO.
So there was some other Race above the Engineers who Enslaved the Engineers purely to be used to Procreate its kind... so the Engineers are thus the ALIEN COW
I was going for something like this because this also is how i interpret the Mural by HR Giger in Alien that was never used, and the ideas HR Giger had regarding how the Eggs are Created. So i was trying to Mix HR Gigers Ideas and his Art and what it showed, with O'Bannons ideas for the Alien Cycle Race... and mix this with the Annunaki Tale.
so that Mankind was Created by the Engineers merely as a way to replace the Engineers for Sacrifices, or Mankind was created by those above the Engineers to replace the Engineers.
But this seemed to contradict the other idea i had about the Engineers that fitted with the Prometheus Mythos and Paradise Lost.. so they contradicted a little and i could not quite Merge every idea into a solid one and so i abandoned the Project.
