While I enjoyed the film upon it's initial release back in May,i like many couldn't help but be a little disappointed with the final product.After all,like so many here,i spent months running theory after theory,obsessing over every little detail from the trailers,only to find i was wrong at every turn.That's not necessarily a bad thing,meaning the film was able to suprise me still,if not underwhelm.                                                                                                  The film is obviously imperfect,never fully realizing it's full potential,but that's true of every film since Alien 3 to be honest.Upon my second viewing i was able to let go and forgive it for what it isn't,and accept it for what it is,another worthy addition to the Alien franchise.Where this one truly excels,for me at least,is David and Walter.All the human characters,while a little more well rounded than Prometheus,were secondary to me.Even all the Alien action took a back seat here.This is just my opinion,i liked the movie when i saw it in theaters,loved it when I watched it on DVD the other night.Over time I feel much like Alien 3,Covenant might gradually be more accepted by fans.Any one else feel as i do?

I completely agree, the first time in the cinema was a bit confusing because I was expecting something different to be honest but on second viewing, I thought it was excellent!

I agree. I've watched it 10 times and think it's brilliant....But I really enjoy watching certain scenes and calling it good.

It's a very evil movie, all death, very little light. Reminds me of a slasher movie...Just when you're sure Jason is dead...He pops up and kills a main character!

I agree too that A:C is better second viewing.  I'm getting ready to watch it a third time tonight as well.

@MonsterZero

"But I really enjoy watching certain scenes and calling it good."

Can I ask which specific scenes you enjoy watching? I have a funny habit when I watch movies on my own, I just skip to my specific favorite scenes and watch those 30 second segments over and over (part of the joys of being a high functioning Autistic).

"It's a very evil movie, all death, very little light."

So true! Brilliant isn't it! :)

Agreed, I like it better than after my first viewing, as I can now keep my personal agenda out of the way & enjoy it for what it is.  An Alien movie installment is better than not getting another one at all?

VivisectedEngineer  look at David when he cuts his hair. And when he gets out of the cathedral as Walter  I see clearly genius in there, both from Fassbender and Ridley Scott.

I agree.

My first time with A:C was lame due to the projector operator (I noticed it was going to be very DARK during the trailers) But I loved it and, sure, my second at home became gorgeous as ever, and not THAT DARK :)

It's a grower. I enjoy more after each viewing.

Me to. it went from about a 7/10 in my book to an 8.5/10 over 3 veiwings.

I think the biggest problem with seeing t theators for me is that if you watch every single trailer and promotional image, there is like no new shots in the movie.

every single set piece was in some type of trailer or image, and I had seen literaly every single shot with the xenomorph in it before I watched it. they should definatly market less and let us be surprised.

That is a big reason I don't like the theater experience- I can't pause or rewind if I miss something. In the theater, you're just out of luck if you miss any little detail.

Same of course.I had a lot of build up leading to film as i said and was just a little let down initially.Upon second viewing was more fulfilled and satisfied.I love the movie

Great movies stand being watched many times, with new things to be found on each viewing. I saw Covenant many times at the cinema. The hangar scene near the end was a little hectic, so I was glad I knew what was coming on the second viewing.

Any scene with Walter!

The opening scene with David and Peter and the moment the title of the movie forms devil horns around David's head! Amazing to watch, pure genius!

Shaw showing up as a ghost image in the reflection on Tennessee's space suit. Look for it.

David bombing the Engineers....I've watched this a hundred times.

Crane versus the Xeno. hundred times at least!

Probably watch about a half hour of the movie. Digest it...then later in the day do it again.

Prometheus I do the same.

@daliens

You are right, those are great scenes! Very well acted and directed!

@MonsterZero

Good picks as well! "title of the movie forms devil horns around David's head!"

Wow, that's amazing!
