The Tyrant Thunderstorm: The Vengeful Rex

By DT

Part 1: Dawn of a New Era

*Two years after The End*

A world, ruled by the largest, strongest, and most unique beings ever to appear on the Earth, was being torn apart. Two years ago, a meteor, six miles wide in diameter, smashed into the Gulf of Mexico, sending the planet spiraling into chaos. Food-chains collapsed as plants and animals were destroyed by the onslaught of destruction. However, many dinosaurs still walk--but they are struggling to do simple things such as finding food. All over the world, dinosaurs struggle to survive in a world decimated by just one rock. There is no hope for them; except, for the dinosaurs in the Golden-Land.

It took a lot for them to get there, for the journey was long and hard. Food was scarce, and there was practically no vegetation for miles. Along with this, there lurked a savage predator - the Unstoppable Lord, Nequit Dominum. He killed many in his lifetime, and very few have fought him and walked away with their lives. Dominum met his much-needed death at the jaws of a legendary alpha-Tyrannosaurus rex, the Tyrant King, Tyrance. Having suffered the loss of his siblings and nearly his mate at the hands of Nequit, he claimed his revenge with the help of Egypt, an alpha-Spinosaurus, who sadly was the last to fall by Dominum's jaws. It's funny, for although these two beasts were the ones who killed him--others, have too faced him, and survived...

Which brings us to Thunderstorm; a titanic alpha-rex. At fifty-five feet long, eighteen feet tall, and nearly sixteen tonnes in weight, this is the largest terrestrial predator ever to set foot upon the face of the Earth. Running from the top of his neck and back to the midsection of his torso were jet-black feathers, although this downy coat was separated in two by an electric-blue stripe, running down each side of his body. As you get lower down his body, his feathers become blue, which range from electric-blue to sky-blue at his feet. His neck-feathers form a "mane," if you will, found only in male rex, around his neck, offering somewhat of a protection against the bite of another predator. Thunderstorm's massive neck-muscles support a six-foot skull, that can deliver a devastating bite-force of 20,500 pounds.

You would think that a T.rex as large and powerful as Thunderstorm, would live alone, right? No, he and his pack are brought together by a familial bond. His mate, Earthquake, is fifty feet long and eighteen feet tall, and covered in brown feathers with some white patches. She can deliver a bite of up to 20,000 pounds; not nearly as much as her mate, but still powerful nonetheless.

Also in this triple-play is Hurricane, covered in black and orange feathers. The smallest of the three, he is forty-seven feet long and seventeen feet tall, still large for his species; a non-alpha of his kind at that. The black and orange feathers on his neck form a mane, but not as big as that of Thunderstorm. His jaws can clamp down with a force of 18,000 pounds; still deadly.

Unlike most rex, who only live with their own species, these three work with four Albertosaurus--since Hurricane's egg was found by the alpha of the pack, Albus. Covered in emerald-green feathers, he measures thirty-five feet long and twelve feet tall. His mate, Alba, was ten feet tall and thirty-three feet in length, and covered in jet-black feathers, with some red indentations on her skull. Their two children, Alborax and Cocoa, were eight feet tall. Cocoa, the youngest, was covered in mud-brown feathers, and measured twenty-seven feet long, while Alborax had black feathers and was thirty feet long.

Earthquake walked over to the nest in which Thunderstorm had been born. Leaning down, she gently nudged the baby inside with her massive head. This, was their son, Tyrannos, formly known as Blitz; they had renamed him upon discovering his similarities to the Tyrant King. He, like his father, Thunderstorm, had black feathers on his back, with an electric-blue stripe running down his body. However, where his Father had blue, Tyrannos had reddish-brown, shared only by Thunderstorm's cousin - Tyrance. His eyes, were a rare sapphire-blue. Although only at one year of age, he was already thirteen feet long and six feet tall. The eight Tyrannosaurs were all resting, when Thunderstorm stood to his feet, signaling that it was time to hunt.

The Lightning Rex chirped to Tyrannos, telling him to come. The little rex stumbled out of his nest, before following his father. Earthquake stood up, joining the alpha as-well. They hiked through a mesa, over to an outcropping. Here, a herd of ceratopsians grazed. Tyrannos stared blankly at the species, Eotriceratops xerinsularis. Thunderstorm chirped to his son, telling him only to attack an Eotrike as a last resort, for they were a formidable foe. He explained that he should always go for the old, juveniles, injured, or lone animals. Conveniently, one Eotrike was separated from the rest of his herd. With this, the two adult rex made their move.

Charging through the treeline, Earthquake released a gluttural roar. The Eotrike stood his ground, bellowing and swinging his skull. The two animals bellowed at each other, giving Thunderstorm the opportunity to sneak behind the ceratopsid and clamp onto his right horn, biting it off with ease. Holding the horn in his jaws, the Tyrant Thunderstorm twirled, before impaling the horn through his prey's neck. The Eotriceratops died, instantly. Working together, the two rex picked up the carcass, returning to the nest with Tyrannos following close behind.

Along the way, they encountered four Dakotaraptors, who hid in fear from Thunderstorm and Earthquake. Tyrannos, trailing behind, noticed the Dromaeosaurs. Owl, the youngest and brashest of the Raptors, leaped forward, hissing at the young rex, who snapped his jaws, bellowing. Knowing the danger, the other three members, Eagle, Falcon, and Hawk, rushed forward to help, but were quickly confronted with Tyrannos's parents. The two adult rex dropped the Eotrike, staring blankly at Eagle, Falcon, Hawk, and Owl. They recognised each other, remembering teaming up to fight Nequit Dominum. Earthquake gently nudged Tyrannos away from Owl, and the three rex returned.

Hurricane looked up from his rest as he saw his siblings and nephew return with a kill. Tyrannos immediately jumped up onto the flank of the corpse, eating pieces of flesh as his pack-mates feasted as-well. The eight animals plucked the Eotrike clean, leaving only bones, some of which were crushed or missing.

Earthquake then took her son out, and the two explored the Golden-Land. They came across the infamous ravine; the one in which Tyrance, Egypt, and Nequit Dominum had their final battle. The scents of the three legendary predators filled the olfactory bulbs of the two rex. Tyrannos did not recognise the scent of Nequit, and looked to his mother, releasing inquisitive chirps. Earthquake told him the tale of a demon, so powerful that he was partially responsible for the current state of the world. Tyrannos let out another coo, asking how he was stopped; to which Earthquake said that his father's cousin, Tyrance, slew him in this very ravine, after Egypt died at the jaws of Dominum. The two then returned to the cliffside, where their pack-mates resided.

In a forest, the four Dakotaraptors from before were feasting on a dead Alamosaurus. Having scavenged this herbivore, there is no way they would be able to take a live one, let-alone an adult like the one they were eating. Suddenly, they heard booming footsteps. Their alpha, Eagle, sniffed the air--picking up the scent of a Tyrannosaurus rex--but not just any rex. The four fled, as a massive, and I mean MASSIVE, monster arrived. It most closely resembled a rex, but it was much larger. His brow-crests were sharp, and pointed back like horns. His back, and even his underbelly, were encased in armour, that only the toughest of his species could penetrate. What was the cause of a mutation like this? When his parents built their nest, in close proximity to that of Nequit Dominum, a meteor containing uranium was present. It mutated what could have been a normal creation, turning it into a titanic monster of destructive prowess. Combine this with the legendary genes within him, and you have a beast that rivals Nequit Dominum in power. At sixty-five feet long and twenty-five feet tall, this was, the Hyperendocrin Tyrannosaurus rex.

Part 2: The Hypo Rex

*Seven years prior*

Thunderstorm and his pack were feasting on the carcass of a dead Triceratops. Earthquake had recently created a nest, and had laid an egg. Unbeknownst to them, it was in close proximity to a meteor containing uranium, which would cause strange mutations in their offspring. Upon seeing Tornado, the Giganotosaurus, the four rex were forced to flee, abandoning the child they could have raised.

The Hypo Rex's egg was found by two alpha-Daspletosaurus, Dread and Menace. They raised the beast alongside their own offspring. One day, the Hypo Rex killed an adult Alamosaurus by himself. As his pack moved in to eat, he bellowed at them. Dread was angered at this and gave the order to charge the beast, who easily killed them with his unmatched jaws. He ate their bodies, along with that of the sauropod.

*Two years after present day*

The Hypo Rex ripped into an Alamosaurus carcass he had found, pulling off a piece of meat the size of an alpha-Utahraptor. He swallowed it whole, blood dripping down his jaws. After eating his fill, he took what was left of the body, and returned to his own territory. He came across footprints, made by his species. Sniffing them, the scent was strangely similar to himself. The Hypo Rex followed the tracks, in the direction of the nest of Earthquake and Thunderstorm.

The three adults were the same as when we last saw them, but Tyrannos, has changed. His body has gone through a growth-spurt, and he is now thirty-six feet long and twelve feet tall. His mane of feathers was starting to show, made of reddish-brown feathers. He had shed most of his feathers from infancy, however, those on his skull, neck, and part of his torso still remained. His tail, legs, and underbelly were completely naked, instead having beige scales.

The four rex were resting, but woke up with a start upon seeing a massive Tyrannosaur approaching them. Thunderstorm and Earthquake felt familiarity with this beast, as did the Hypo Rex. Eventually, his intelligent brain came to the conclusion; he was the son of the Lightning Rex. Angry that he had grown up without his true parents, the Hypo Rex bellowed in anger at the Tyrant Thunderstorm, who stood to his feet.

Knowing what was coming next, Thunderstorm roared at his larger opponent, sizing him up; he was seven feet shorter in height. The Hypo was rammed in the chest, as his father chirped, summoning his mate and brother to his side. Together, the three took the Hypo Rex, who was only slightly hurt by his three attackers. A ram from the sixteen-tonne Lightning Rex sent him crashing to the ground. The impact nearly crushed Tyrannos, who rolled out of a way, down a muddy hill.

The three adult rex did not notice him, and they continued to attack the Hyperendocrin Tyrannosaurus. The Hypo clamped onto Hurricane's neck, releasing screams of pain from the rex. The supersized beast swatted his other two attackers aside with his tail, as he tossed Hurricane down a hill. The remaining two tyrants fled, as the Hypo Rex bellowed after them. The four Albertosaurus had run off in another direction.

Luckily, the Hypo Rex was too slow to chase after them, but he had claimed this territory as his own.

Meanwhile, Tyrannos, the son of the Lightning Rex, lay unconscious at the bottom of the hill that he had been hurtled down. His eyes were closed, and he could easily be mistaken for a corpse. However, he was awoken by the sound of a massive roar; the victory roar of the Hyperendocrin Tyrannosaurus rex. Tyrannos had four broken ribs, and an injured right-leg--but his blood forced him to stand. Placing his three-taloned feet in the ground, he winced slightly from the pain it caused his right-leg; nonetheless, he still stood. Tyrannos looked around at his surroundings, and, knowing that he wouldn't survive against the Hypo, he limped out of the area.

His sapphire-blue eyes looked around, as he entered a forest. Tyrannos's keen sense of smell detected the scent of another carnivore, as a lightly-built body rushed through the treeline. He got a glimpse of its colour scheme, orange with some black markings. His muscles tensed, for this would be his first battle.

Part 3: Fates Entwine

Tyrannos roared, as a Carnotaurus appeared from the treeline. This was none other than Destructo, who was thirty feet long and nine feet tall. Upon seeing the young rex, he bellowed aloud in fear, before running away. The son of Thunderstorm snorted, before passing on.

***

Hurricane, lay in the opposite direction, also at the foot of a hill. He looked up as he saw the four Albertosaurus approach him. The five Tyrannosaurs stood up, before looking up at the cliffside that used to be their home.

***

Despite apparently having secured his rule, the Hypo Rex knew that he would stand no chance against other rex alone. He trotted down a hill, looking for a pack of rex to challenge for dominance. From there, he would kill the alpha, and take their position as the leader of the pack. His mere appearance scared away Dakotaraptors and Archeroraptors, as he picked up the scent of a rex--and headed in the direction of the smell.

The Hypo passed through a swamp, intimidating even the population of Deinosuchus. A Baryonyx cowered in fear from him, but he still grabbed it in his jaws and crushed it with ease. Dropping the dead animal from his jaws, he flattened its skull under his foot before hiking through an outcropping over to a valley.

His gaze was fixed upon a pack of eleven rex; the two alphas rested next to each other, next to their three sleeping offspring. The other six, the infantry, were scattered across the area. Stepping down a slope, he bellowed at the alphas, challenging them to single combat. The two parent rex, using their powerful arms and legs, stood to their feet. The mere sight of the Hypo Rex sent shivers down their spine, but they knew they would have to fight if they were to keep the infantry and if their offspring were to survive.

Almost immediately, the Hypo lunged at the alpha-female, biting down on her neck. Her mate swung his head into the lower-jaw of the mutant, forcing him to let go. His teeth and the tip of his jaw were coated in the blood of the female rex. The two alphas looked at each other before charging head-first. However, their larger opponent opened his jaws before snapping them shut around both of their skulls at the same time, crushing them. Upon seeing this, their three offspring, the leader of which was an alpha-female, gave the order for them to leave. The other two, one male and one female, did not question their sister and left.

Dropping the dead alphas from his maw, the Hypo Rex glared at the five remaining rex, who immediately lowered their heads before their new leader. He then gave the signal for them to move out, returning to the nesting-grounds of the Tyrant Thunderstorm.

*Six months later*

A subadult Tyrannosaurus, growing surprisingly fast, was wandering through a forest. He was looking for his parents, and had been for the last six months. He was forty-seven feet long and fourteen feet tall, massive even for his species. His name, was Tyrannos.

Tyrannos sniffed the air, catching a familiar scent; his parents! Bolting through a swamp, he saw the two adult rex as they found him. Earthquake's maternal instincts took over, and she nudged her son, embracing him in a neck-hug, the equivalent of a normal hug for humans. Thunderstorm joined in the embrace as-well, but the three rex had little time to rejoice; for they still had to find Hurricane and the four Albertosaurus.

The three rex felt the slight pangs of hunger, but, fortunately for them, they found a dead Baryonyx. The decapitated creature lay lifeless in the shallow waters of the swamp, but these three were never ones to pass up a meal. Thunderstorm and Earthquake let their son eat first. After he ate his fill, which was not a lot, the two adults finished it off, and they resumed their search for their pack-mates.

***

Hurricane caught the scent of three of his species, and he, along with Albus, Alba, Alborax, and Cocoa, headed in the direction. The five pressed on for hours, stopping occasionally to eat. A day passed, for the three rex they were looking for were also moving, and had most likely not yet locked onto Hurricane's scent. For these five, it felt like years.

At-last, the two parties finally met up three days later, but there was no time to embrace, for they had to reclaim their kingdom from the scourge of the Hypo Rex. Thunderstorm, Earthquake, Hurricane, Tyrannos, Albus, Alba, Alborax, and Cocoa charged up the slope, leading to the cliff that was their nesting area.

The eight Tyrannosaurs reached the top, and there he was; the Hypo Rex, with the six Tyrannosaurus that made up his infantry. The two parties roared at each other, before charging.

Thunderstorm and Earthquake immediately charged for the Hypo, while Albus and Alba tag-teamed the smallest of the infantry, as their offspring did the same with the next-smallest. The Albertosaurus, with their strength in numbers, and their greater speed, overwhelmed the rex.

Hurricane attacked the second-largest of the Hypo's pack-mates, and the two predators dueled viciously. Their teeth were like swords, cutting each other's hides and flesh. Hurricane clamped down on his opponent's arms, before yanking his skull back, and pulling them off. Throwing them into the face of the opposing rex, he was caught off-guard by the brother of Thunderstorm, who bit down on his neck, and broke it under his max bite-force of 16,000 pounds.

Earthquake and Thunderstorm impaled their fangs into the tough hide of the Hypo Rex. Although his skin offered some protection, the jaws of their species were designed to pierce through armour, and blood leaked from his body. Lowering his head in pain, the abnormal monster disoriented them with a tail-swipe, before biting onto the back of Earthquake, and pushing her into Thunderstorm.

Now, it was eight Tyrannosaurs versus five, and the Hypo Rex's fate appeared to be sealed, as Thunderstorm had knocked him unconscious and stood atop his body. The five infantry halted their assault and lowered their heads before Thunderstorm, who stepped off of the giant's body. They now served him, but not for long, as a scream of pain filled Thunderstorm's eardrums. Turning around, he saw that Hurricane was being ferociously mauled by the Hyperendocrin rex. Thunderstorm headbutted him in the jaw, and he let go of his brother. Looking up at the Lightning Rex, the Hypo smashed his skull into the ground, shaking the cliff. The pack of Tyrannosaurs moved away, but with his last remains of strength, the mutated rex reached up and clamped onto the back of his father.

Roaring in pain, Thunderstorm was unable to escape the grip of his son, as Earthquake rushed in to help, biting into the Hypo's skull...but it wasn't enough. Straining under the pressure, Thunderstorm cooed to Tyrannos, telling him that his time had come. Tyrannos shook his head in denial, but the Lightning Rex chirped that he would be his successor. He could not watch, as the cliff crumbled beneath the three rex--sending Earthquake, Thunderstorm, and the Hyperendocrin Tyrannosaurus rex falling down. The skeleton of Tornado, the long-deceased alpha-Giganotosaurus was sent falling as-well. The pile of debris that made up the cliff crushed the bodies of Tyrannos's parents, and the skeleton of his father's nemesis.

The five infantry, the four Albertosaurus, Hurricane, and Tyrannos were in shock and anguish. The ten Tyrannosaurs saluted their new alpha, who ignored them as he hiked down the hill, still unable to fathom what had just happened. Arriving at the foot of the cliff, the son of the Lightning Rex snarled in pure hatred at the Hypo Rex's body, and closed his eyes, lowering his head as he stared at his parents with anguish. He couldn't accept that he now had to take up his father's mantle, and left, walking away from the mountain.

At the summit of the mountain, the eight Tyrannosaurs lowered their heads before Albus and Alba, for they were the only alphas in their pack. However, the ceremony was interrupted by a familiar roar; that of the Hypo Rex.

He appeared, heading up to the summit of the mountain, covered in scars, cuts, and bruises. The ten Tyrannosaurs had no choice but to salute their "king," and obey his every command. Thunder cracked and lightning struck, as the Hypo Rex assumed the throne of the mountain, roaring as rain fell in large buckets from the sky, soaking the feathers of him and his pack-mates. With Tyrannos gone, he had taken any hope of freedom with him.

Miles away from the mountain, the true heir to the throne, Tyrannos, abandoned his home, his family, and above all - his destiny.

Edited the timeline, now Thunderstorm and Earthquake are mates rather than siblings.

I like it a lot. Feels like a mix between The End 2 and a little, of Lost in the End.

Good grief.

^Thanks, I took inspiration from both. I'm not sure which one it will be more similar to.
