BACK TO THE ROOTS AFTER COVENANT

Alien Covenant in my opinion is a good movie providing for even better sequel (prequel). My favorite scene was in the end when the Xenomorph walks like humans (very awesome Sir Ridley).
It would be preferable with much darker and heavy Giger vibe for Alien Awakens. The audience will never know what struck them.
Davids role could naturally weaken since creations sometimes tend to rebell against their creator.
We the audience after Prometheus wanted monsters and we got that.
Now is the chance to make a movie that will make us need to change our pants.

MemberChestbursterMay-28-2017 10:13 AMThat could be amazing. A development from clean, pirstine scifi (Prometheus) back to gritty horror scifi (Awakening). That's actually an interesting thought. Ridley and the studio developed Covenant to satisfy the fans that wanted more horror and monsters, but Ridely still got his big, religious and philisophical AI destroying the future of humanity undertones, themes, etc. in there. So they were seeking balance (which is a problem with the movie in my opinion).
So it's a real question as to whether Ridley will follow that same type of plan, go back to more Promethean stuff, or go even more towards the tone and style of Alien. I think that this planned sequel will end up being another attempt at juggling all the tones and styles. I think it will be better, since they should know how to better achieve that after Covenant. Additionally, the horror will include the Proto/Xenomorphs and what not, but it may come out as more of a thriller with David still being the main antagonist.
