Well, Another great disappointment from Sir Ridley Scott.  Get back to the horrific terror that enthralled us all back in 1979 and get back on track to the beginnings.  These childish stories about David are becoming quite disastrously boring.

Exactly, Ridley has gone absolutely bonkers

Hi Members , I just got back from watching it. Really disappointing. This could have been so much more. None of the concepts or mysteries introduced in Prometheus were even really touched. I think our senior members on this site would have done a better job.

Stop trolling Conners, all you do here is complaining like a b*tch without backing up your opinion. You even have to rely on other people to do it for you.

And Prometheus is an awful film!

I enjoyed Prometheus much more than A:C.

As soon as we got to the car after the 2nd showing, my wife's response was something along the lines of-

"That movie was about a psycho robot nut job, with aliens it; but not really an alien movie".

I loved this movie. I could not stop talking about it at work with 2 of my coworkers

Trolling? Haha, Snake if that's what I'm doing there is a lot more people than just me doing it. Get over it man, I have backed up my opinion a ton in other threads. Sorry you loved a movie I think is bad. Blame the people who created this site, not everybody has the same opinion as you. It's called the world, haha.

I loved my first viewing but that was probably the dopamine, my sense of nostalgia was off the charts. Second viewing I wasn't as impressed and I did not like the fact some of the motifs from Prometheus weren't touched on more. A so so film for me, far from what I expected, unfortunately.

Here's my back up. Typical horror movie clichés, once stuff actually starts happening in the movie is where it gets bad. The proto/xeno  whatever it is standing up with David, freaking awful and hilarious. The fact that these grow so much faster than any other ones. The inconsistencies to the other movies, the acid from a facehugger eats through decks of the Nostromo barely goes through Bichir's character's face. Somehow he also got one inside him from a facehugger barely being on his face. Crudup births one like 2 minutes after being facehugged and we have to see the chestburster, now he is taking away from the John Hurt scene in Alien. Guy touching spores just like stupid things people do in Prometheus. No space suits on again on a planet they know nothing about. Well they did have them on in Prometheus but took them off, they don't have any on this time. Daniels not being hurt after flying around and hanging on a ship, if she's Spider-Man or Captain America I understand. She is just a normal person. Suspension of disbelief I know, no sorry Ridley you don't get off that easy. He has lost any greatness he ever had.

Oh how could I forget my favorite part, the severed head I got to see 3 or 4 times. I think twice was enough oh and some real bad CGI at times. Yeah you know that awesome scene with the proto or xeno standing up with David. I probably should have walked out right there. But I still had hope that Ridley was gonna make up for this garbage. He didn't

I actually loved Prometheus but did not care for Covenant. Not because of all the inconsistencies (I can forgive stuff like that in movies), but because I went in there longing for answers to a bunch of questions and wanting to see more of the David/Shaw relationship... and got none of it. Huge let-down. :(

Thank you Dr Connors. I totally agree.  I think it's easy and convenient for some people to attack others and call them a troll when they simply disagree with them.  I see it all over Facebook but I somehow thought things would be different here.  Oh well.  Anyway, you have backed up your opinions with fair criticisms and so you are not a troll and you are not the only one who feels the way you do. I got ya back, brother.  Wanna finger my flute sometime?  LOL!

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion.  I watched Androids blow and finger each other's flutes.

MemberChestbursterMay-20-2017 6:48 AM

@Phallic Jaw   Hahahahahaha, your flute, of course I do. And you're welcome and thanks for having my back, you know I got yours. Yeah I guess they don't know that we were excited for this movie and were completely let down. I wanted to love it, I was so excited for this movie. And this is also a reason why I stayed off this site for like two months before Covenant came out cause like you said for some reason when you disagree with someone your trolling.

Get a room, you two.

Phallic Jaw

MemberFacehuggerMay-20-2017 7:24 AM

@Snake - An egg room? ;-)

which begs the question - just to get things back on track - where was the cool blue mist in the egg room?  Surely David needed that (or SOMEthing?) to keep them in stasis in all those years before a human host was found?  I mean that's what happened in Alien?  An organism would not be able to live indefinitely.  Or had he literally just created the eggs a few days before they the crew arrived?

@Snake, I guess I am a troll too because I was disappointed of that hack job Covenant.  I heard the same screenwriter also wrote Blade Runner 2049.  I hope that does not suck.  Someone said that the android premise would work better in Blade Runner than Covenant and Ridley is trying to merge the two movies into a parallel universe on the mad android!! lol

Read all the comments in the link below and nobody is making this negativity about Covenant up.

It's never said in Alien that the blue mist kept the eggs in stasis, so no need for it, it was a pure artistical choice:

John Hurt:

"There's a layer of mist that's covering the eggs, that reacts when broken..." * falls*

MemberChestbursterMay-20-2017 7:46 AM

@Phallic Jaw  Just more inconsistencies. @colonialsoldier   Oh no same writer on Blade Runner 2049? Shit, I am looking forward to Blade Runner a lot. But the good news is Ridley Scott did not direct Blade Runner 2049. Now I'm worried about the writing.

@Dr. Connors, my 11-year daughter and wife saw Covenant last night.  I was asleep when they got home and my daughter just told me now that she didn't like it lol.  I was a teenager when I saw the original Alien and loved it.  She said Covenant wasn't scary lol.

Dr. Curt Connors

MemberChestbursterMay-20-2017 8:11 AM

Was that directed toward me? Why does he just say stuff to me when other people are saying the same things? I'm confused, haha

Dr. Curt Connors

MemberChestbursterMay-20-2017 8:13 AM

@colonialsoldier   She's got a point. And why is Snake so mad at me?

SATURDAY AM UPDATE: Fox's Alien: Covenant enjoyed a strong opening day, delivering an estimated $15.35 million (including $4.2m in Thursday previews). Early expectations for the weekend are for a $38-40+ million three-day and a #1 opening.

I've nothing against Snake but Dr Connors you obviously must have done something to upset him/her somewhere lol ;-).  Or they just don't like you for whatever reason.  I wouldn't worry.  Hey it's fine that we disagree that's what makes things interesting, but I'll say again I think Dr connors your points are valid! And I am not just agreeing with you for the sake of it, I actually love Prometheus and I know you hate it, but that's just fine.  We can agree on one thing and disagree on another and still be "friends".  Prometheus is done; dead.  Everything is about AC now, unfortunately, and we can both agree it was quite bad without being trollish about it.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion.  I watched Androids blow and finger each other's flutes.

Loved AC! I'd rate it just below Alien...and just above Aliens.

I too was dissapointed with the film. Makes Prometheus so much better. I really did not like the story one bit. A pyscho robot with a few loose wires playing God and sexual frustation just didnt sit well with me. Prometheus had set up a great story only to be burned down by Covenant. This Alien Covenant movie should have been a movie of its own. No need to follow up Prometheus if they were gonna take a massive dump on it.

Only redemption I see is when the book comes out. Even my gf who I had hyped up about this movie was confused as to what the heck did we just watch.

Is there an agenda the mods are not telling us about? ;)

Dr. Curt Connors

MemberChestbursterMay-20-2017 8:57 AM

@BlackGooDrinker   Yeah I hear ya, it is very confusing. I really just don't know what Ridley, the writers, the studio and everyone involved was thinking.

colonialsoldier

MemberFacehuggerMay-20-2017 9:06 AM

@phallic jaw, great response.  I guess Connors is hated because he is a doctor lol.  I think they need to make Alien:Isolation a movie lol.
