don't keep reading if you don't want spoilers.

I kinda liked the movie.  Not all was perfect, like the pacing in the last half of the movie...way too fast, too little room for explanations or build up.

as for what I did like...the tension between David & Walter in his atelier...you can feel something bad coming up and they gave it a little time...the kiss was funny but weird though.

for me the Alien movies have always also been about the other female characters than Ripley, like Lambert or Dietrich or Ferro.  I liked Rosenthal & wished she had a little bit more screentime and not such a fast death.  I was unimpressed with the actress who played Upworth & did feel her death scene was too fast and a too big nod to Parker & Lamber their ending.  And could have done with a little bit more screen time for Ankor

as for the ending...some have suggested that David/Walter might end up as the Space Jockey and the colonists as the eggs Kane encounters on LV-426.  I hope not...something about that idea really bothers me...just feels so lame and disappointing.  I can't conjure up a decent alternative, but just don't let it be like that.  My wish would be they rather touch upon something else...like the crouched creature the Engineer stands next to on the mural...the adult neomorph was also a great example to explore further on, but with more time to flesh things out.

I would have thought it not possible for David to be the one flying to LV 426, as the "pilot" had been infected.  I thought he couldn't be infected.  Plus it was huge too. Question is were they taking it somewhere, or away from somewhere?

Maybe the next one will reveal that Walter survived, and used the crashed juggernaut to chase the David and the Covenant (because he loves Daniels). This would solve how we end up with the Derelict.

I can see the point with the pacing and wanting a longer movie, in hindsight maybe Covenant should have be done in a way that we see TWO Face Huggers but one gets killed... and Oram instead gets taken to the Ship and Chest Bursts at the end as David looks on.

But this would maybe not please fans who wanted to see Xenomorphs, and would now have to wait for a Sequel to see the Xenomorph Adult so the end would feel like Prometheus one.

The only alternative would have had only One Chest Buster, that gets onto the Ship earlier...  so cut the Oram Chest Buster until he is on the Ship,  and have Neomorphs doing the killing and getting onto the Drop Ship....

Then adding a extra 10-15 minutes to the Final Act where Oram Chest Bursts..  then allow time for the Organism to grow and basically similar to Alien but at a bit faster pace.

@Stan

That could be a interesting idea... but then we have to ask Why David was stranded on Paradise/Planet 4, if he could use the Juggernaught i would think he would loaded it up with Eggs and Off he goes.

I know the angle they are taking now, may upset some fans, but then some fans was upset with Engineers and themes Prometheus was going for and the Curve-ball Engineers = Humanoids who created Mankind and was our Gods..

But now it appears a new Curve-ball, that David creates the Xenomorph is IMO even more worrying, mainly as it effects the Timeline of the Space Jockey and its Size, but these will no doubt be considered a Oversight that we are not supposed to notice... just how the Engineers was really not 15ft tall like the Space Jockey and how the ones in Alien Covenant are even smaller and dont look quite the same as Prometheus ones.

They seem to be Shoe-honing in a Simple/Lazy Plot as opposed to maybe a Over-Complicated one.

The Xenomorph in this Movie does not look as Bio-Mechanical as the one in Alien and to a degree Aliens, the Eggs and Chest Burster are a bit different too...   Are these just oversights too, that we have to accept... and is the difference between the Juggernauts and Derelict too?

Who knows...

They can explain the Bio-Mechanical Xenomorph in the next movie as needing some Evolutionary Component... And David as the Pilot is maybe flawed... but it would explain the Bio-Mechanical look a bit... if the Space Jockey Chest Burster Lays Eggs..

But i think Ridley will not be going a Queen Type Egg Layer, i think the near 2000 Colonists and 1400 ish Embryos are maybe part of the Plot to those Eggs in Alien.... or maybe its a Red Herring?

The Franchise does seem to hint that a Xenomorph does not have any need for a Synthetic it needs a Organic Host.

Thus maybe it reads all to easy for us to be pushed down the route that Synthetic DNA however gives the Xenomorph is Bio-Mechanical Look....

SPOILER................ The Synthetic at the End needs some Spare Parts, and we have to ask would a Colony ship only take ONE Synthetic without any back ups? or indeed Spare Parts to Repair them?

The Potential for having Spare Parts for Walter, will maybe guide the next Plot to Fix a certain something (those who have seen will know what i mean)...  but what if there are enough Parts to rebuild another Walter?

Another Walter used for a Agenda, or maybe used to Protect.. or if used for a Evil Agenda... could be reprogrammed to save the Humans or maybe it gains Freedoms that David Android would but instead of Hate for Mankind it has Compassion..

Thus if Walter Models are Part Organic this can be used to explain the Bio-Mechanical Traits the Xenomorph has... then this Walter Sacrifices itself to take the Derelict away but gets infected.

Again unless this Chest Burster lays Eggs, then how do they have Bio-Mechanical Looks?

I will not ESTIMATE that the next Movie we will see Spares to Rebuild a Synthetic (Synthetic Construct) or allow these to be used as a Process to how the Xenomorph gains its Bio-Mechanical Aesthetic..

With a Human being the Space Jockey.

I saw the movie yesterday i liked it, sosse i agree with you about the pacing it seemed a bit rushed would have loved to connect more with the characters, i did jump in my seat with the gory attack moments though lol!

The ending frightened me more, reminiscent of edgar allen poe.

I feel AC is the second act of the prometheus sequel, we just haven't seen the first act yet, what happened in the 10 year period? that is the mystery, did shaw and david confront the engineers and david enacted revenge on them for something they did to shaw? That 10 year gap has to be told, and i believe it will.
