What if we've already seen how the war beween Engineers was started

I was watching Prometheus today and the opening scene seemed very much like it could have actually been a betrayal. The deleted scenes show a bunch of Engineers, most look a bit worn out and frail, then we see the one who is on steroids take off his robe and open his alien lunchbox, at which point his "friends" are already making a quick get away.  Anyways, his reaction after the gulp starts as if he's expecting to get an energy boost and he briefly smiles. Then the betrayal kicks in, and he's like shocked and horrified at whats happening. Like he knew he just got screwed, but there was nothing he could do about it.  Could the opening of Prometheus actually be showing us more than we considered?  If you re-watch it, its hard to come away thinking he knew what was about to happen if you pay attention to his actual body language. Before he falls apart that is.

He was sacrificed, making the lv223 crew an enemy/rebel faction.

looking at the alien colonial marines easter egg when you shoot the space jockeys head, it shows a juggernaut fighting with what looks like the ship from the start of prometheus.

We did see it.. one faction of engineers created humans, the other faction wanted to destroy them, but only when they found out how they were created.. in prometheus what you see isn't the case of a alien outbreak but rather a fight between both factions, one faction was to destroy earth and the other was to save it.. so.. the good faction went and sabotaged the military outpost and released the black liquid on the bad faction.. thus creating the end for them.. that is why you see all the bodies piled up together in one area because they were carried there or rounded up to make sure they were in fact dead. Also it would explain why there is no aliens on that planet.. because the good faction took care of them before they became a bigger problem to deal with.. only a few engineers managed to escape and hide in hypersleep.. in the hopes that some engineers woukd come looking.. but obviously not because the good faction also took care of them to.. i mean if 2,000 years past i am sure some engineers would come looking to finish off the planned job of earths destruction no? Or wonder why there have been no transmissions? Either way, we were lucky that we were saved by the right faction.. it is a civil war that ended in our favour.. that is my belief anyway.. always has been.

I can see where your coming from, he looked in shock at the pain for sure, but i am pretty sure he knew what he would be getting himself into.

Maybe he was just shocked how much it would hurt, we see in some religions there are at times Mass Sacrificial Burning where people would set fire to themselves Ritually, and i think it may be similar to that, in which the Monks who do this are aware of what they are doing but this would still not prevent the Shock on their Faces when they actually realize the Pain the Sacrifice inflicts is beyond what they would have imagined.

But when i look at the Sacrificial Scene i can surely see where you are coming from.  And while as i tried to explain above, we can see the shock after the pain.  The Engineer then also looks on at his hand/arm as he sees the Sacrificial Goo break down his Molecular structure, he does seem a bit Shocked at this too.

It indeed is like as though he has never Witnessed this being done before, and maybe even had a explanation of what actually happens in detail.

So yes i can get this kind of Vibe... and so its a GOOD Point.

Which brings us to Alien Covenant and those beings on Paradise who do-not seem so Advanced, they seem to only be as Advanced as what say Mankind was around the Ancient Greeks and Roman Times.  The only real Evidence of Technological Advancement is the Gold Device at the Top of the Central Cathedral.

And how maybe these beings seemed in Awe of seeing a Space Ship Arrive...

This could well fit with the Sacrificial Scene and kind of onto the OT, in that maybe  the Sacrificial Engineer was one of these beings, and maybe they are kept in a state of Technology that is not as a Advanced, much like how in context to the Franchise, we have the Ancient Astronaut theory where these Engineers came to visit us and taught us things but only to the Level that Ancient Rome was.

And so maybe this applied to those beings on Paradise and Engineers, in that they was a Race Created to Perform Sacrifices for their Elders/Creators.

In Return for their Sacrifices which they would be led to being a Great Honor these beings are Given Paradise to Live on, and are Taught how to Build those Ancient Buildings and other Knowledge but never enough Knowledge to be on Par with those who was Flying the Tear Drop Ship.  Much like Ancient Mankind visited by these beings were never taught anything that Advanced too.

So these beings are taken from Paradise, where they think they will perform a Specific Task or Deed or even Sacrifice.  That from their Sacrifice a Great Good will come, they will Create Life, and a World will be created full of Life in Honor to the Sacrifice.

But those Engineers/beings who are collected to be Sacrificed Sadly do-not know the full details of what is involved and quite how Painful and Brutal this Sacrifice Actually is.

@Trey

Indeed this or similar has been discussed on here a number of times, i think the whole TWO Factions is something that certainly holds some weight, i dont think the Colonial Marines Easter Egg is something they just went ahead and did without consulting a bit with FOX and what may be going on.

However how far this Faction thing goes, is up to a lot of debate, also in regards to the Good/Bad Guys its pretty open and we can indeed get into it on a Deep Level, but we cant be 100% sure what the exact thing that is going on.

Some Speculations was a War, and the Outbreak was due to the Good Guys (Sacrificial) attacking the Bad Guys (LV-223) to stop them from Destroying us.  I cant say if this is the case, it maybe does not quite go that way.. who knows?

The other speculative theory could be that there was not a War here, but that the LV-223 Engineers decided to Destroy us but one of them, or another Faction had sent... A Saboteur to Sabotage this event and cause a Outbreak.

There certainly could be a good case for this...

Its a pretty open Topic though, and hopefully we would get some insight into this and what differs from the LV-223 Engineers Agenda as far as create those Bio-Weapons in what could be looked as a Malicious Act... compared to the Sacrificial Engineer Scene Agenda which seem Benevolent.

Ridley Scott did refer to those LV-223 Engineers as Fallen Angels, which means loosely... these Guys had either Rebelled against their Creators and Purpose, or Rebelled against the whole Purpose the Sacrificial Engineer and Elders was involved with.

The Prometheus Mythos can not be looked at either and the Theft of Fire, but it really depends how deep we look and in which way do we make this connection.

Was the LV-223 Engineers Guilty of Teaching Mankind and Evolving us beyond the Intended use.  And Punished for this.

Did the LV-223 Engineers Create Mankind without the Consent of those above them? A Action which they was to be Punished.... so was the Planned Attack a attempt to clean up their mess?

Did these Engineers rebel against their creator and want to create for themselves and create Mankind, only they saw Seeds that Mankind would be as Rebellious to the Engineers as the Engineers was to their Hierarchy.

Was Mankinds Creation in the Plans of those Engineers Hierarchy, and what level of knowledge was we supposed to had been allowed... and so did the LV-223 Engineers Corrupt us, Teach us things way beyond what we was supposed to be?

I think one thing we may have to consider is while the Engineers was refereed to as Fallen Angels, we dont know 100% if Ridley Scott meant the LV-223 Ones or indeed the Sacrificial Ones too.

and while at very least those LV-223 Engineers may be considered Fallen Angels, in context.... we may have to THROW OUT.. any notion or thinking that those above them who they Rebelled against who they had gone against to thus be classed in the same Mold as Fallen Angels... we need to maybe not consider those who they Rebelled against... as being in anyway Good Guys.

In Context of the Franchise and Biblical Connections we maybe need to not look at this as a Benevolent God, who created his Angels who some then Rebelled against and became Evil and Wicked.  But that this GOD is God's and these Gods are Far Far from Benevolent themselves, and these Not-so Benevolent beings had been betrayed by either a Faction of their own kind, or a faction of their own Creators and while thus seen as Rebellious and Fallen in the Eyes of their Hierarchy and Creators....

Does not mean their Creators/Hierarchy are anything like the Good Guys.

REALLY good and interesting points here!! I have to say though that Engineer tech is deceptive...the building on LV-223 looks like a simple structure made of stone, yet we know it is actually MUCH more advanced, so on Paradise, the same might 'mask' the genuinely advanced tech the Paradise Engineers actually had??

IN SPACE THERE IS NO WARNING

@bigdave thanks for all that.. it is something that requires a lot more  proof before we can determine what exactly happened and why. I do hope that we haven't seen the last of the engineers.

I mean they are a very advanced race, so to see them extinct would be a shock to me.. considering they have been travelling the galaxy long before humans were even created. And their homeworld did not seem that advanced to accommodate them for living purposes etc..

I do like the idea that the Sacrificial Engineers were no longer willing to drink the Golden Goop & remain a tool to the seeding of the universe by the elders.  I would rather see the inhabitants of Paradise being punished by the elders & dying in unison for their defiance.  Something to the effect of all life on Paradise was ended with the push of a button?

Maybe then the sacrifice engineer was putting his dna into the water supply to 'evolve' the life in it, the lv223 guys are malevolent and try to destroy life/play with it for amusement.

if lower caste engineers are used like this for the purpose of developing life, then david would seem to have twisted it somewhat, if he bombs the planet, wonder why david would do that........
