Xeno vs Xeno

I have read bits here and there that we might see xeno vs xeno in AC. I worry that could get sort of comic bookish or like AVP.

Anyone want to see that? Why?

If there's a good enough reason for Aliens to fight - why not?

MemberTrilobiteJan-16-2017 9:05 PM

It would be fine for a good reason. I wouldn't be interested if it was something fanboyish or just for action's sake.

It would be interesting(sort of reminds of velociraptors in the Lost World).Resurrection did it in a way but that was  two alphas taking out the runt to escape.

How was it a runt?

MemberPraetorianJan-16-2017 10:36 PM

It just sounded weaker, also it didn't seem to put up much of a fight.Granted it was two against one, but i think they knew it was weak.

I don't think the Alien in Rez was a "runt" it was just the poor sap who drew the short straw. They communicated between themselves before the one volunteered to die.

As per the OP, I have also heard this rumor and am prepping a more in-depth look at it or argument's sake. But the rumor is that a fully grown Neomorph takes on the Protomorph near the end of the film. They are different "species" so would make sense that they would compete for hive space, hosts, etc... If true, what an epic fight that will be.

I disagree it seemed suprised and even seemed to protest a bit before they tore into it.

I think ninXeno426 is correct. It appears that two Xenos look at the other and attack it. Never noticed that before.

Nah, it just drew the short straw like Chris said.  One of them had to die for the good of the others.  It kept its hands behind its back and didn't try to stop them when they attacked.

And i still disagree lol.

I'm sure you do.

MemberTrilobiteJan-17-2017 12:47 AM

Shortest straw- not incorrect but semantics really. The two turn and face the one. They both have deep growls while the other has a high pitched whiny voice as if it is protesting but knows it is no match against the other two. They corner it (I saw no hands behind its back). It still whined as they attacked. It had no big effect on the overall movie but it was a pretty detailed scene.

It wasn't cornered.  The three of them barely move form where they're standing.

You need to dial the brightness up to see the hands behind the back, such was Darius Khondji's love of black.

Ultimately doesn't make much difference though.

That's exactly what i was pointing out. Thanks for the more in depth break down of the scene dk.S.M. I meant no offense,my apologies if it seemed that way.

I remembered that these were basically bastardized mutant Xenos. The weak one appeared to not have any arms at all and it looked like it had either no inner mouth or a slow one- during the time the other two seemed to be challenging it. Regardless of points of view, this scene is pretty fascinating and there is a lot to see (if one wants to).

from what I took from the scene with the 3 xenos in rez, theres no way that 1 volunteered. it even seems the other 2 r even laughing while theyr butchering it. its probably just been one of those circumstances where the 2 killers r both at the glass and turn around and have the same idea, the other xeno may not have been weaker, just outnumbered but to me, there is no suggestion that it volunteered

I think this is actually a good idea!

HOWEVER,

It could also go very wrong very fast and turn into a pointless action sequence. I think if they made it a horrifying spectacle to watch, then it could work. But if they just use it as a plain "cool" action scene then I don't want it.

I feel like Xeno vs xeno would effectively wipe out the horror credibility of the Xenos just like it did against Predators in AVP..

The xeno from the AC trailer is how I prefer its impersonation; partly invisible in the darkness, coming out of shadows to attack their prey.

The more visible they are, the less scary they appear.

It will be interesting if they have the Neomorph go at it with the Protomorph. The proto looked huge in the trailer.

Or hopefully will see an Engineer go at it as well.

Self correction-

I stated the killed Xeno appeared to have no arms. An arm can be seen at 58 seconds into the video link from above.

MemberPraetorianJan-17-2017 6:00 PM

I think also you can see it's arms aftet it's been killed when Gediman and that poor marine go in there.

Neomorph, however I DO think we will see the Neomorphs in full lighting, so as to catch a glimpse of the new beastie

ali81

MemberNeomorphJan-18-2017 7:53 AM

426, not sure about full lighting but I get what ur saying. to me, the whole horror impact in alien came from the fact we only got slight glimpses of the creature and if we start getting relatively long shots of the neo in full lighting it may take some of the fear factor away from it no? we do say awe I wish I couldv gotten a better look at the alien but once uv actually seen it doesn't it take some of the wonder and horror away from it? u never see what the xeno does in alien and that had the desired effect, ridley let ur imagination terrify u. maybe a wee 2 second glimpse in moderate lighting would do the trick and let the neo maintain some intrigue?

It is interesting that the Alien wasn't seen very much due to looking too much like a man in a suit- the less is more worked to great effect in the end.

Today we can see things in great detail but it can take away from the fear factor. Hopefully RS will go the less is more route- even though part of me wants to see the whole creatures.

@A L I E N 4 2 6

That's possible indeed, and it would be damn impressive to pull off a scary xeno scene in full lighting instead of the usual safe and proven choice of darkness or overused cliché flickering lights.

@ali81

I agree with everything you said

Its been seen in AR.....

I am not sure if there is much point...  i think maybe yes TWO different Xeno species could fight if they are together and the only way i would see this work would be if a Neomorph vs Protomorph (if thats correct term) would allow for Daniels etc to escape...

But then surely mean the Neomorph loses and then have to ask how does the Protomorph then get on-board if Daniels escapes... unless the Neomorph is on-board  prior to Protomorph Chest Buster....

But then how does the crew stay calm enough to allow TWO to make out in a Shower with Two Monsters on-board.

So i dont think we would see any such action...

As far as a Traditional Xeno.... or Protomorph vs each other i would assume they would not fight unless they are from TWO Separate Colonies like Ants..

Neomorph vs Neomorph i think i could see as they fight for Food...
