Covenant Crew Cannot Survive...

MemberOvomorphDec-28-2016 11:22 AMI have watched this trailer about 50 million times. Just as I watched every trailer for Alien when I was 12 years old, whenever they popped up on TV. The crew of the Covenant cannot survive or anyone go back to earth! We know from prior movies that there was no life reported on LV-426 in Aliens. And at the inquest Ripley was told "You found something NEVER RECORDED ONCE ON OVER 300 SURVEYED WORLDS..."
So either the Company lied to Ripley, the Company at that time had no true knowledge of the Alien, or the prior Administration buried all evidence of what they did to the Nostromo, based upon the incidents of the Covenant, and they did not want to expose their prior failures.
I personally think the egg in Covenant is Shaw. David did something to her during their trip to the Engineers home world. The ship then crashed before reaching that destination. Much like the unreleased version of Alien, how the crew were transformed into eggs, David has done this to Shaw. The egg we see in Covenant is HUGE!! Not like those in Alien. I believe that Shaw's DNA, based upon what she gave birth to in Prometheus, leaves her susceptible to becoming the first egg based face hugger. Because David was somehow able to get her to consume the black goo.
Shaw's egg, her as face hugger, is probably so large because it is a queen birthing egg.
I think that is also what happened to the Space Jockey in Alien. It was somehow impregnated with a queen. The melted hole in the floor of the ship that leads to the cargo hold below is created by the queen. This would be where her egg sac penetrated the flooring so she could lay all the eggs below.
Kane gave birth to a warrior. A warrior would be first born to protect the queen. It did not know the queen was dead. She must have laid all eggs she could, set herself free of the egg sac, and left the ship to die on LV-426 somewhere that no one from the Nostromo found the remains.
I think it would be cool to see the queen born. Her warriors come soon after, and they attach themselves to her like additional appendages. When she opens her arms the warriors detach from her body to defend her. And they also control the drones in the hive.

MemberFacehuggerDec-29-2016 5:39 AMYou briefly touched on a point that continues to intrigue me: how much did the company know before sending out the Nostromo? Hopefully this (and the next film) fills in some plotholes for me...
1. Why did they switch the science officer to Ash even before the alien signal was intercepted?
2. How do they know what will be found and that it's going to be a useful weapon?
3. Why didn't they just send a specialist team to extract the critters? -- granted that kills off the film Alien altogether.
If these questions are satisfactorily answered then it will only elevate the original film -- just as Rogue One has done for A New Hope.

interesting theory. It could be shaw but there are many eggs the covenant crew find throught the temple.
I still think someone ( yutani corperation ) is secretly watching all this unfold even through Prometheus and until they understand what/who they're dealing with they'll keep sending guinea pigs.
the corporation also knew what was on LV426 IMO. the fact that muthur deciphered the signal ( which was an alien voice in the directors cut not a beacon ) makes me think that because they already have some data as to what language the engineers used.

1: they had recieved the message before prometheus left. They put Ash in BECAUSE they knew what was up.
2: Prometheus continued transmitting data after Shaw left. At the very least they knew the engineers were scared enough of what was on board to warn everyone else to stay away. That alone made it interesting, but I believe the 426 message had a brief description of the creature, as well. That's not a given, though.
3: specialists aren't expendable, and they just had to expect the alien to do what it did and Ash would deliver the Xenos. Ripley kinda effed that up for everyone.
Safe? Of course he isn't safe, but he's good!

MemberDeaconDec-29-2016 3:28 PMWe cant be sure what they are doing with this movie...
SPOILERS....... Potentially...
Shaw is not in the Synopsis, Rappace has shot a few scenes, AC is set 10 years after Prometheus and at the aftermath of what ever has happened Since David has been on Paradise.
Shaw was the main Character in Prometheus, its her faith and questions and horror at what she found that drove the reasons for a sequel...... she maybe is not a Character that went down to well and so they will kill her off... or maybe explore her more in a sequel.. would this be a Flash Back though?
DAVID was the main Character, and despite what the 4chan leak claimed... sorry i think The Prequels are about DAVID more than any one else... Alien was Ripley.... the prequels David or at least Robots played by Fassbender... its his role that made Prometheus he is a fantastic Actor and i am sure we would be seeing Fassbender in at least one more sequel if not more.. (unless they are set in the past).
Daniels... it seems they are now setting her up to be the new Main Character and Protagonist... and again i can see them running with her as a new Ripley Character and she will make it to the next movie.... at least... and one after that again provided its not set in the distance past.
I dont think the whole crew would die...
I assume Daniels, and Tennessee (McBridges Character) survive at very least.... PLUS at least One incarnation of Fassbenders Characters...

MemberDeaconDec-29-2016 3:29 PMThis movie will not directly link to Alien...
even if the events may do.... then Daniels and maybe 1-2 others (plus maybe any none woken Cryo-Sleep Colonist) will make it to the next movie and maybe this sequel will tie in more to Alien or do its own thing and not directly tie in to Alien

MemberFacehuggerDec-31-2016 6:48 PMThey might decide to move forward and continue on to their colony planet and cut all ties with Weyland Yutani. That's why no one back home has heard about what happened on Paradise. They somehow realize if they tell the company what they found they'll send more people out there.
Safe? Of course he isn't safe, but he's good!

MemberFacehuggerJan-01-2017 5:11 AMGood topic - I have always thought WY knew more than they let on ...
It's why I think some of the WY viral stuff may not be 100% accurate. Canon, yes, but maybe they don't provide all the info. available . . .
I have always felt that synthetics have more influence in WY than many (on Earth in the ALiEN universe) realise . . .
I hope to see this touched on in the next films - but perhaps that air of mystery is best left as just that?!
