Michael Biehn has confirmed that he will be back in Neill Blomkamp's new Alien movie.

His character Corporal Hicks survived the 1986 film Aliens, but was rather unceremoniously killed off in Aliens 3.

The fifth Alien was put on hold last year as a result of Prometheus sequel Alien: Covenant, but Biehn told Forbes that it is definitely going ahead.

"Sigourney [Weaver] says they are still doing their project," he said:

"I think it would be very embarrassing to Fox if they don't give Sigourney the movie that she really wants to go out on.

I know I'm going to be in it. And there's going to be a new Newt - she's going to be about 26 or 27 and looks a lot like Jennifer Lawrence to me, but I don't know.

"Maybe they'll be a passing of whatever and then the franchise can move on so they can make more money, because that's what it's all about."

Yup, you read that right, Newt's concept art looks a bit like Jennifer Lawrence. Here's hoping that means something for future casting...

Newt actress Carrie Henn, whose character was also killed off in Alien 3 early on, recently revealed that she wasn't too fussed about being offed.

"Had I been asked to [reprise my role], I probably would have done it. Who wouldn't?" she said. "But I wasn't devastated."

Blomkamp's sequel will bypass Alien 3 and Alien: Resurrection and pick up from the end of Aliens. Weaver has promised fans it is "everything they're looking for".

Who knows... i dont know if it was just someone he would admire for the role.. or who he genuinely thought looked like Newt

Which i guess could look a bit like her yes... but it also does look based a bit off Carrie Henn... but its doubtful they would cast Carrie Henn... if they are going to cast someone it would be someone who has been or has the potential to be a well known and competent actress so they can cast her in a Alien 6, and 7 etc and have her basically sell tickets.

So Jennifer Lawrence could work..

But so could Amy Smart but she has not been so active, off course a A List Scarlett Johansson could do the trick too.

However i would say Emma Stone or Rachel McAdams  could suit the role very well... too

That's alright: Something Real! No probs! :-)

Big Dave, Where those choices in an older Newt would be interesting, I thought an actress like Emily Blunt would make for compelling casting. My reasoning for it is this:

With regard to some of Jennifer Lawrence's films she is 'into' the acting and is in he characters head, like the film she as in with Bradley Cooper (I forget what it is called at present) as in the X-Men films everyone is having fun while being 'in-character'.

Similar with Scarlet Johannesen, she has been in quite a few impressive character driven roles where is is just having a blast as Black Widow in the Marvel universe and as Lucy but consider Sigourney Weaver when she entered the role, she was a character driven, nuanced actress in approaching the mindset of Ripley. For this reason I feel the Emily Blunt, when you scour through much of her past work, she is a very emotional, vunerable actor in her approach to her characters head space: case in point The Young Victoria.

Yes, she has been in films just to have a blast too like Edge Of Tomorrow and looks like a real emotional tough cookie in Sicario which lends weight to the case, for me, that she could invest that tough, yet emotional vunrability entrapped within the Alien universe pitted against the Xenomorph and all its horrors like a younger Weaver and Carrie Henn did.

Agreed she would make a decent choice too

Not sure I'd go with Jennifer Lawrence...I think she is oversold....sort of like Chris Pratt....the studio's are trying to put them in every popular franchise.

Yes, I like Chris Pratt/Jennifer Lawrence but there has to be a cap on there being this "safe" Hollywood bet all the time.

My Emily Blunt argument/reasoning would only be put into doubt with regards to her age gap. Not sure if Blunt would fit the age appropriate requirement(s) for the character of an older Newt. I'm sure they could make-up some good techniques but she looks good and can pass for reasonably young anyway. She's HOT!! :-)

I dont think they would go for a established sex symbol though...  or someone well as well known..

And so again i would think  Emma Stone or Rachel McAdam fit the bill perfectly...

I think both are attractive females who dont have the internet buzz about them like Lawrence and Johansson  have...

And when not plastered in make up... they look the part...

I think both can pull off that troubled Newt look..

I think Emma Stone however looks most like a older Newt i also think she could pull it off.

However......

If Ridley and Fox would love a passing of the Torch and to have a replacement for Ripley.... and even go as far as being more kick ass...

Then a more dead ringer for Carrie Henn would be Rhonda Rousey....  She has limited Movie appearances and Ridley has gone for not so well known Actors/Actresses and giving people a break..

And so yes i am sure Rousey would be up for breaking into Movies from MMA!

This is Carrie from a while ago...  below is another and to think of it they are near doppelganger

Come to think of it ... i think it would be PERFECT...

They are similar looking.... yes slightly different because Carrie Henn is older and has gained a lot of weight... but a younger slimmer Henn does have a lot of similar features.

If its a passing of a Torch for a New Heroine... well Rhonda would fit that bill...

Ridley likes to involve people with not so much experience and to give people break through roles...

And Rhonda could add to a A-List selling point to get the movie over as opposed to a complete unknown...

Rhonda is also about the Age... Newt would be in Alien 5

Also Rhonda and Carrie are the same Height..

I think a SMOKING GUN could be Rhondas Mark below her left eye...

If you check out Carrie Henn Interview here ( Carrie Henn Interview ) in2003 when she was 27 years old which between this age and Rhondas would be about the ball park that Alien 5 Newt would be aged.... you will not only notice Carrie Henn looks like Rhonda a bit... she also still in 2003 bares the mark under her eye... ok its not as much a mark as Rhonda has.

But then Newts Mark could have grown with Age... and so.... I'M GONNA CALL IT.... RHONDA ROUSEY = NEWT

For Alien 5 ;)

It would be great if whoever gets the role can act. That's all I care about because when you think about it an adult New, probably straight out of hyper sleep, body aged, still the mind of a scared little girl, would be incredibly damaged. This will be an incredible role for whoever gets it. I like Jenifer Lawrence or the others above, Rhonda Roussie, not so much.

BigDave - Where I can buy your Rhonda Rousey pitch for looks, action stamina for older Newt she could be like Dave Baustia has become in supporting roles of an action angle. But to Bregos point, that is true what he says about the perfect actress to tap into all that internalised trauma of a little girl now inside a grown womans body and how to cope with that life changing 'effect' upon her - should the production crew wish to pursue that narrative story arc for all characters involved.

One other actress who I have compared pictures with young Newt as opposed to what an older Newt would look like is Abbie Cornish She kicked-ass in Sucker Punch and many other pics of her could by comparison pass as an older Newt juxtaposed next-to the picture of the youger one. Still, her age as compared to what they may be looking for (25+maybe) could b an issue - perhaps. Still, she looks pretty young and could possibly pass for the older age category they may be looking for.

Agreed i think its going to be a tough one...

As far as "about it an adult New, probably straight out of hyper sleep, body aged, still the mind of a scared little girl"

The movie seems to be set many years like 20+ after and it would appear Ripley, Hicks and Newt get to live out some kind of normal life.. until a event 20+ years latter changes all that.

But i agree we have to look at a Woman who has spent 20 years getting over such a horrific event... and there would be some Scars.

The Question is how do you get the fine balance of someone who has a Traumatized Personality and then also a Hard line Heroine one...    Shaw's Character could pull off the first part.... but no matter what it looks like she would never pass for the Kick Ass Character that Ripley was...

Its a Question of can Daniels become that sort of Character...

We have to therefor wonder exactly what kind of Character would a Adult Newt become... Rhonda Rousey could look the Part... she could carry out the Action Elements (i think Alien 5 is going this route its basically a Aliens MK2) but can she Act to the level to pull off a sense of Fragility to her?

So yes thats a good point...

Abbie Cornish is again another decent actress they need change eye colour but thats not a problem... and she has portrayed a Action Time kind of Character so who knows.

Looking at the concept it would seem she has joined some kind of Military Career and to me looks like she is some kind of Pilot maybe?

Its hard to think what kind of Career she would grown into.... if she has been around Marines (LV-223) and with Ripley as Ripley had to basically grow and become a kick ass Heroine to deal with the Ordeal that went down on LV-426...

And with Hicks in the picture it could be that she may end up joining the Military?

Who ever they pick they would have a hard job to make sure it ticks the boxes.... but then look at Miss Weaver!

She is a known A-List made famous in the 80's and has stood the trial of time... while other 80's Actors have not been as big to get to that Level.

Shes been very successful but also... kind of living off a Good few Movies in a Good Role... rather than Ability... because i dont think she is a Great Actress by any means....

But then neither is Arnold Schwarzenegger but he is one of the most successful actors and well known of all time....   (Yes Weaver can Act better than Arnie.. but she has not been as successful).

So i think its down to the role for Newt... what Characteristics are the most important for the role they intend for her..  not only in Alien 5 but going forwards if she is to carry the Torch!

Is she to be more a Shaw... more a Ripley.. or more Hardline Action Heroine than even Ripley was... i think Ripley had the right balance..

So my point is like if they planned to evolve a Shaw to be a New Ripley... it looks like this is something that is not going to be pulled off well....

That is compelling suggestions that you present there BigDave!

BigDave

MemberDeaconAug-09-2016 7:37 AM

I would suggest that maybe she (Newt) joins some kind of role on a Ship or a Pilot for a Mission to a outpost or something related and she runs into Xeno trouble and thats why Ripley and Hicks get involved in Alien 5

I think she has to be the key event that would get Ripley involved.... as i would assume after Aliens that Ripley would want to get back to some normal life, a normal job and back to life pre Nostromo.

Rather than her, Hicks being the Xeno Busters "who ya gonna call when ya got a Xeno outbreak" Ripley and Co... like shes the only Human who can deal with them.

The same goes with if they kidnap Newt to blackmail Ripley and Co to get involved in the Xeno or give information... again who is to say Ripley is the only one Human who has all the information on the Xeno?

Sure Bishop has more....  and then we have Prometheus Mission and David 8, and Covenant etc... so the company is bound to not really need Ripley for input... the only reason she was needed in Alien 3 would be logically in that series of events the Derelict was destroyed or buried after the destruction of Hadleys Hope.
