Topic Information and Updates for ALIEN: The Weyland-Yutani Report!
Posted May-24-2016 4:29 AM
My copy of the report arrived yesterday. I opted for the hardcover edition as I felt it would need to stand up to much thumbing through and scrutiny. This is not the Collector's Edition as it doesn't seem to be available here in the UK, as yet.
For two reasons I thought it might be a good idea to create this post.
Firstly for anyone considering buying the book it could serve as a review, and secondly it could be a place for interesting or important information about the entire franchise, but more importantly, facts which may prove relevant to the upcoming ALIEN Covenant and beyond!
I will add more detail as I work my way though each chapter. If anyone has anything at all to add then please feel free to post. That’s the main point of this topic!
On first inspection I have to say that this is a beautifully presented book. You’ll never find a more handsome tome about our beloved Alien, [termed XENOMORPH XX121 by the Company] and it’s horrific lifecycle. It’s a historical timeline of the most frightening creature in the Universe and Weyland-Yutanis efforts to capture, study and exploit it.
The report contains privildged information that is the property of the Weyland-Yutani Corporation and opens with a warning, that anyone below a clearance level of S2 found with a copy of the report "can expect immediate termination [of employment] and subsequent legal prosecution."
Beautiful colour images stand out against the black page backgrounds, as does the metallic green text. There are a few images we have seen before, but there's a host of newly created artwork and illustrations, which have absolutely stunning detail and clarity. There are amazingly detailed illustrations of each of the ships, vehicles and weapons used throughout the series as well as potted histories of all personnel, including how they met their demise!
It contains many interesting add-ons, which are attached to relevant pages. These consist of transcripts and final status reports by various crew members ranging from Lambert’s Incident Statement Regarding Quarantine Protocol Deviation, a transcript of Hicks’ Final Status Report, a little eight page novella, named SPACE BEAST by former Fiorina 161 inmate Robert Morse, right through to a copy of the Debriefing of Security Officer Y. Bose, Assigned to USM Auriga in 2380.
There are illustrations of proposed medical and military applications from Xenomorph biology, including an acid spraying Xenomorph Gun! See below...
Thanks go to avpgalaxy amongst others for the images!

One of the first things I noted from the Weyland-Yutani timeline is that in the year 2099 Weyland Corporation absorbs cybernetics rival Yutani!
The Weyland-Yutani Corporation was formed when Weyland Corp absorbed the Yutani Corporation in a hostile takeover in 2099.

This is one book i forgot to order thanks for reminding me, i wonder how much they sat down with Fox to work out some of the dates and timeline for things like Weyland-Merger etc.

OOPS sorry Necro that should have read contact with the KADMOS mission! :)
Also I think the artwork is stunning and incredibly detailed! The images above don't compare with how they look in beautiful, shiny detail. Go to your nearest bookshop and have a look through a copy, you'll see what I mean. :)
@BigDave well that is one of the things I am hoping to discover, just how this will or won't tie in to the movie timeline, as I said above the WY merger happened in 2099!
@Aorta You bring up a good point, can the comics be considered canon? Hmm wouldn't have thought so...oh dear, now I've gone and opened up that old can of morb worms! XD
@Chris Cool, I thought it might prove very interesting to study this book for information which may [or may not] tie into Covenant and beyond! :)

I got this book almost a month ago. It is GORGOUS! A wealth of knowledge on the universe of Alien awaits the reader of this amazing book, that's for sure! I need to sit down and really go through it more, but I definitely recommend it! And hardcover is definitely the way to go; makes it feel more authoritative!

@Lone it certainly does lend some clues, at least with regards to timeline, about Weyland, Yutani and the mission to LV-426! I too need to get myself a copy, I was hesitant earlier but after seeing your write-up, I don't think I can go without this book as part of my collection any longer!

Well many had all theorized that the Merger could have been with Weyland and Yutani after the fall of Weyland Empire with no CEO's left...
I was not on board this idea, because why does Weyland Prefix the name and why do we not get a Oriental feel to the Movies as far as the Company.
I always wondered if it was Yutani who ended up in trouble after a similar Mission to the system... we have to remember Yutani are primarily a Cybernetics Division and Communications only Weyland was a bigger company and it had a few Patents that made things hard for Yutani.
we can look at it as the whole Sony Blu-ray vs HD-DVD War...
The Weyland files and viral sites gave us hints that Yutani either produce a lot of communcations products or/and software and via the Private Eye Video we could see that Yutani may have been able to receive Shaws message to Weyland..
It is also hinted that ships before and even Prometheus use components from Yutani with regards to communication and information...
So Yutani could have had their Technology on the Prometheus send back information to the company and maybe even send information scrambled to Weyland.
So maybe Yutani infest in a Mission that also fails and this leaves Weyland able to absorb the Company?
Just a thought? Its what i thought was going down, maybe the Alien Resource Book Weyland Files could give us more clues to this now?

In the year 2293 Weyland-Yutani loses its United Systems Military [USM] contract, as a direct result of rival company Ridton marketing their advanced FTL drive.
By 2349 all Megacorporations are banned. Three years later Weyland-Yutani loses a final appeal to retain its designation.
The timeline runs from the year 2000 until 2400. As we know the last official report of contact with the MORB is in 2381 with the Auriga.
So, some thirty two years after that ban, W-Y is still operating in some form, and conducting its agenda with the co-operation of the USM.
Obviously, W-Y have monitored each encounter and have used colonists, crew members, and marines as pawns in their agenda.
The final pages of the report contain the following statement-
The Alien is a formidable opponent, to be sure, but it is not invincible. With a minimal investment of time and resources, your contact with the Xenomorph could prove invaluable to the company. We are currently considering any and all freelance contract negotiations that will provide Weyland-Yutani first rights to this unique biospecimen.

Nothing is going to stop them. They will work with, and use anyone foolish enough to go into business with them. The benefits, as they see it, outweigh any risk or danger.
Play with fire and you will be [acid] burned!
The information in my previous post leads me to your theory about Synthetics running W-Y Chris. It makes more and more sense. Now, if only I could find something relating to the Tyrell Corporation in the timeline!

There's nothing implied that WY are run by synthetics. In the time period in which the WYR is written is not long after Resurrection when there aren't many androids around.
James Moore who wrote Sea of Sorrows (set about 110 years after) has hinted that one Company exec in that book was a robot. But there's no hint the wider Company hierarchy is run by synthetics, similarly in the Company of the 27th century in The Rage War trilogy.

@S.M Thank you for your valuable contributions!
Many of our forum members, including myself, had no idea that the W-Y Report was released elsewhere ahead of the US and UK dates.
That being the case, I realise that information regarding the report will have been collated elsewhere on the web, and read by many.
I created this thread as a way for our members to both find info, and add info. It just makes things easier to have it under one roof, as it were, on our own forum!

Thanks S.M! I really meant over and above that information.
I just wonder if Ridton may play a larger part in the future. Probably not, but we have no idea what Ridley/Fox may have in store for the next three or so films!
