Hi I'm trying to identify a film from the 80's or perhaps early 90's. this may be a Roger Corman film but I've trawled his IMDB page and not had any luck identifying it. All I have is a vague description of the set up as follows. It starts with a large spaceship heading to pick up a crew (on earth I think) and it just has a captain on board. The captain seems to be talking to the ship, he goes to a room where there seems to be a sealed unit/box thing. As the move progresses I think we learn that the captains mother is in this unit and is some sort of alien. The new crew board and the ship get under way. The crew seem to each be specialists and don't know each other so we see them meeting each other, assigned quarters etc. This is where my memory of the film trails off, I think as the film progresses the ship comes under attack and is damaged. There is something about members of the crew having to go out and fix the ship - that's about all I can remember. Can anyone remember its name? Thanks in advance. Garrett

Try "Super Nova" with James Spader. Maybe not, sorry.

Hi Garrett It MIGHT be 'Battle Beyond The Stars'. Produced by Roger Corman & directed by Jimmy T Murakami. It's loosely based on The Seven Samauri/Magnificent Seven. :-D Richard Thomas, George Peppard, Robert Vaughn, John Saxon & Sybil Danning were cast members. The spaceship has an AI Intelligence navigation & tactical computer system named 'Nell'. John Saxon's evil character 'Sador' uses transplants to renew his body & stay alive.
