What happens to Shaw in Alien: Covenant?

The official plot synopsis for Alien: Covenant surprisingly does not make mention of Noomi Rapace's character, Elizabeth Shaw. However it does mention Michael Fassbender's character David, as the 'sole survivor of the doomed Prometheus mission'.  Does this mean that Shaw dies?

Let's not jump to conclusions just yet. Keep in mind, David needs Shaw to screw his head back on. But, we also know David had some rather evil agenda in mind when he's put back together.

So, what do you think happens to Shaw? Do you think she dies? Or does she "transform"? Does she enter cryo-sleep and drift through space?

One thing we know for sure, she won't be rescued by Covenant when it arrives to its destination.

This is a interesting point.... but as i have said on the other News Article we can not read into a Synopsis too much as the Prometheus one did not cover everything the Movie showed or tried to show...

Here are some interesting Facts! (for the most part) *not Including rumoured Source Leaks.

1) Ridley had from the get go hinted that a sequel would be following Shaw and David as they go in search of the Engineers Homeworld... the DVD extras on the Special Editions did touch upon the Deleted Scenes and Mention of Paradise.  Ridley has a number of times confirmed that logically this is the one way they have to go as you cant end the First Movie with Shaw and David flying off on a commandeered Engineer Juggernaught... and not follow through what happens to them in a sequel.

2) Ridley had described that they would indeed meet beings, and they would not be Gods and would be well Evil, and Rappace in a Interview said she is looking forwards to the sequel where Ridley is going to get them to finally Meet God... or the Devil she said... Ridley has also refered to the Devil too....

While this does not mean for sure this is what will happen, it does show that indeed David and Shaw will indeed be heading off to Paradise at least that it where Shaw wants to go.... and Ridley has said that Shaw needs David to get off that Place (LV-223) and he needs Shaw to repair him but once the head goes back on, well can she trust David.. she would have no choice... and that dispite reservations  David is very persuasive... He also lately said she would put him back together Slowly...

This again would seem to Show that Davids head will go back on... well at least that would seem the Plan up until recently but just because Shaw is not mentioned in the Synopsis does not mean she is dead or not there... maybe she got there.... maybe the events of the Next Movie as far as that Synopsis is a event after the events that lead from leaving LV-223 (maybe putting David back together) to getting to Paradise or where ever David decides to go... to the point that these new Travelers come in.... somewhere between those timeframes something may have happened to Shaw.... so maybe a part of the Movie is set after the events of the latter part of the movie or the 3rd movie?

3) If we take the ommision to why Shaw is not mentioned, and then we look at some comments that Ridley made recently.... he said as far as David being put back together... that he would be but it is something very Special that they have planned.... what can be so Special about Shaw putting his head on?

Surely Shaw would not let him use the Goo to mend him in anyway.... maybe yes she could use a Space Jockey Suit to kind of fix David together.... so what is this something Special.... it has to be more than what i just said... maybe what i put is a Temporary Fix... and latter David has a better Fix?

But if so what happens to Shaw......

Now the Source i had did say and i may had misinterpreted it....  and wrote it down different in my Post in April, and so a few things may have been misinterpeted and put down differently by me...

"7) The movie will not be based largely on Shaw and David shenanigans aboard the Juggernaught but there will be some screen time devoted to Shaw and David during the trip but not actually interacting as such on the ship. As Shaw will be incapacitated for the most part."

Above is what i put... but they did say that the movie has 3 Plots and that the movie would not mainly be based on Shaw and David and the mission that they was on at the end of the movie... we would see some screen time devoted to interaction between them on the journey but Shaw would be incapacited for the most part.... i assumed does that mean Cryo-sleep? the person was vague, and cryptic.... therefore it could easily be that Shaw does not feature as much in the movie as we may have thought... her and David will get some screen time together (which does not mean that David has little screen time) and that Shaw is incapacitated for the most part... of what the journey? or the movie itself...

We had rumours that Shaw would Die... only to then be alive at the end as they go in search of the Engineers and Paradise... this was the Hell on Earth Leak...  Seems odd how can Shaw die... but then at the end be off with David to Paradise to get her answers?  Only way is as i said above.. if the first part of the movie etc is set after the last....  so that the final part of the movie, that lead to Part 3 movie... is actually going to be (the end of the movie and its sequel) set before the events of most of this next movie?

Anyway this was put to the source who says, they can not go into detail... But Shaw does not Technically Die

Whats that mean?  Does it mean she ends up in Cryo Sleep... but then that would be Sleeping and not Technically does not Die... no that maybe has to mean something else....

* Does she get Evolved?  Exposed to the Goo?

* Impregnated and gives Birth to something New?

*Does David Body Snatch her Body?

*Does she somehow Transcend into some other kind of existance or plain, so only part of her is dead so to speak?

Who knows.... if i add that Ridley has something Special Planned for how David is able to be back on the Mend.. the Ommision of her in the Synopsis as David is the only inhabitant the new Travelers find..  with the Source who says "she Technically does not Die..." and "She would be incapacitated for the most part"

What could this all mean?  Oh the Source said something about Concept work that looked like a Humanoid connected to a Machine or Wall that was very Bio-Mechanical and like a Gigers take on Superman 3 Robot Girl...  Is this Shaws Fate?

This is assuming the Source is correct... but i am not sure now.. as the movies Synopsis does not quite add up... but then it does not add up with everything Ridley had been saying about the next movie right until the point when he said that John Logan was going to be re-working the Draft...

So yes what happens to Shaw..... i dont think they would leave her out of the Movie... maybe all along she plays a little part... or she apears at the end and maybe the End events is set before the others that are shown on screen first....

Or due to Schedule Rappace is not availble or she is indeed only for a bit.... but i doubt Ridley would go and spend years and 19 drafts at least now... on a Story that for the most part seemed to have her Play a Role in the movie... to then just drop her because she has a busy Schedule... Nope if Ridley had her in his plans and Fasbender then he would have waited until they was free.... rather than change the Draft and Plot because he could not get Rappace on board for the time they want to Shoot and Release the movie..

So i cant see her not being in it for any other reasons than....

1) She is in it..... or will be, even if its in a small role.

2) They have a change of direction and want to kill her off...  or somehow have her in a 3rd movie...

I feel like Shaw is a pawn for David's agenda. He manipulated Holloway, knowing it would result in Shaw being affected. She still doesn't know that and I doubt David will tell her. More so, I think She's role, like in Prometheus, sets off a new chain of events. We know, from the leak that David initiates a new event, which causes the creation of a new monster. I'd bet that Shaw is used as another host or as a means to secure a larger host.

David clearly wants to transcend past his mechanical limits. I can definitely see him using Engineer tech for his own gain, or at least trying. He hates humanity for whatever reason, like the Engineers. He must be the catalyst that sets the Xenomorph loose on the galaxy. But Shaw, she likely won't be present much and we likely won't get a straight answer. I think we'll have to wait for the third movie to find out. But that's me...

I agree that David either wants to evolve past his mechanical limits, or he wants to become a creator of life and transcend the abilities of his creators.

Although I do not really consider the Prometheus comics as canon, there was a synthetic named Elden that was evolved after being injected with the black goo.  I believe I had read somewhere that the comic writers did have some contact with Ridley about plot points before the comics were released.  Perhaps Elden was a bit of forshadowing for David?

Which brings me to a disturbing thought.  What if David uses the good to become organic/biological and impregnates Shaw..............

CHRISPICARD - What an engaging topic! I, too, have been thinking heavily upon the implications of the information Fox have released, and one of the possibilities that keeps popping into my mind is this: Shaw is one of the new "monsters" that wil be debut in Alien: Convenant. Having been heavily saturated with the strange, biological liquid due to her having carried and given birth to an alien organism, it is possible that she will have steadily transformed into something less human and more nightmarish over the course of the journey to the Engineers' homeworld. If this is the case, I would be very interested in seeing what that creature looks like! Regardless, it is extremely fun to speculate! :)

From what we know so far, I'm leaning towards the notion that Shaw enters cryosleep and ends up drifting through space.  She would be incapacitated for most of the movie.

The Juggernaut's hypersleep chamber may be the only way to conserve Shaw's energy.

Miss Shaw might run out of any dehydrated food that she grabbed from Vickers' life support module; even if she somehow stuffed the full two year supply in the bag - the trip to Paradise may take longer.  Perhaps David looked around while his head was in the bag, and she didn't take nearly enough food to make it there without cryo-sleeping.  She's mortal & needs to sleep.

I think it would be kind of silly to kill her off in the beginning of the story, so I don't foresee Shaw dying (at least not right away). If she does die, then I hope it at least has a purpose.

My guess is that David agrees not to harm her, giving her his word that he'll wake her after they arrive; however, for whatever reason, he doesn't.  He chooses to let Shaw sleep in.  I'm thinking BigDave’s source is correct and that David becomes very persuasive, convincing her to reattach the head, before ultimately forcing her into the Engineer hypersleep chamber. After much protest, he makes her feel that she has no other choice but to trust him completely.

Transforming Shaw into something else is probably a better option than seeing her meet her end. That's just my opinion, though.  It could be David's too.   If Shaw transforms into the new monster, then they might need to hide her presence and conceal her whereabouts until David can get her to that point..  IMO it's possible we'll see a mixture of a couple things: Shaw in the engineer cryochamber, as well as something new emerging from her..  Maybe David says something creepy about her dreams again, as she drifts off into hypersleep.

Androids don't require sleep in the same way that mortals do.  David would still be wide awake, while Shaw may be fatigued after the whole ordeal. He might make her reattach the head fairly early on and forgo his own sleep mode (so they can head to Paradise as soon as possible).

I had done this to the latest news thread.... here  we go again as they are suited to this topic.

1) Ridley hints there is a interesting idea about how David ends up, this seems in regards to being from a Headless Corpse, but what about Shaw.... David maybe can do her no Harm Headless..... how did they leave LV-223 what state would David had to have been in, in order to Fly that Ship.... surely not Headless?

Ridley hinted that Shaw would eventually put him back together.... this was a while ago mind, but does this mean put him back together before they left?

How does David Pilot the Ship with out being assembled? Can Shaw Fly the Ship with Davids Help? Does she go into Cryo-Sleep?

2) Does David do something or use Shaw in some way before they get to Paradise? Is Shaw used in this interesting idea for David? Does he use her Body? Does he have Shaw on that Ship in Stasis? Has he infected Shaw before they arrive at Paradise.?

===========================================

Interesting...... "Shaw wil end up being almost like the leader of the world. Plugged in"

I had a source who had supposed leaks to the movie, that i had in March and i was told not to put everything on here.... and Ridleys comments from the Summer all seemed to kind of add up to what they was saying....

One thing they told me when answering the rumours of Hell on Earth and Shaw dies Plot.... was... Shaw Technically does not Die... now what does that mean?  To Technically not die must mean she is either in Cryosleep... as they also said before that.. that Shaw plays a smaller part because she would be incapacitated for the most part.

Or that Shaw is either Evolved into something else... or used for something else... or some part of her Survives while another part does not...

They also did say to me in March that some concept work showed a Humanoid Figure attached to a Bio-Mechanical Machine or Wall, and compared it to a Gigers Take on the Super Man 3 Robot Girl Scene.... So maybe yes Shaw gets Plugged in... or something to that effect.

So yes as far as Shaw goes who knows..... i am kind of hopping they wont kill her off before she gets some answers but who knows...

As in another Topic... maybe it could be that events of what happened at least from when the Juggernaught that David and Shaw was on left LV-223 to what ever they find and what ever goes down on Paradise or where ever David takes Shaw or ends up.... these events could be left covered in a 3rd movie and started at the end of the next one...

So the next movies events are actually after the event of Shaw and David getting to some place and encountering the Engineers etc...  but we cant be sure.... hopefully more information would come out...

If this next movie will skip and not even show us what becomes of Shaw, and is set after David gets to Paradise. and there is nothing but David left... it would be a missed opportunity for sure.... as surely the whole idea was for Shaw to seek out her answers and a 2nd movie was a good way to show us more on the relationship between Shaw and David and how it develops...... hopefully we will see this.... and its just maybe it would be shown latter in the movie or a sequel?

So at this point its hard to speculate what becomes of Shaw,  does she become the new Monster? or play a role in its creation? Who knows? If so i hope we see this happen in this movie or the next as far as the point from when Shaw is one moment trusting David to then.. what ever happens to her at the hands of him... assuming this would be the case.

There could be any other way we see this New Monster.... but you have to put your money on it having something to do with what David does.. and maybe the Cargo he is carrying...

Another interesting thing the source said.....  The Xeno is not a result of the Engineers, but Humans play a bigger role in the Xeno that we get in Alien... again they are vague but he hints that its not really the Engineers but Humans but indeed the Engineers well those who created the Engineers who created the Biology in the first place that i assume is what is the basis of the Xeno and indeed also the Horrors on LV 223.

We have to remember the Deacon was at the hands of David via events that he had made happen..... The source seems to hint that David again plays a part in the creation of something New that is related to the Xeno the fresher form that Ridley was on about...

But then i dont get 100% what they mean by Humans play a role in the Origins and Creation of the Xeno, its surely does not mean as far as in Alien and Aliens where they was all basically Born from Human Hosts? So how does Humans play the bigger part behind or in the creation.... do they play this part as in its by their hands... or as in they play a part via the Hands of David or something else..... So if true this is very interesting... but im not sure i buy it.

So indeed what happens to Shaw....? And we have to ask does the New Monster/Monsters have something to do with her... or do they have something to do with the Human Crew that finds David?  Or does these new Monsters or Monster come from Engineers or who created them...  If its David who creates this NEW MONSTER is Shaw involved?  are the Engineers or those above them involved?  the New Human Travelers? Or David himself?

Hopefully we get some news... because the source i had did have some information, that could indicate something could happen to Shaw because she does not Technically Die...

But i cant not say for 100% if the Source in anyway telling the truth....

"Seems odd how can Shaw die... but then at the end be off with David to Paradise to get her answers?"

Unless... she does die on the way there or on the planet... and the Engineers offer David a way to ressurect her later in the film... the downside would be the price paid — it would be enormous because it would involve her transformation into the Engineer's "system" or "The Matrix" or whatever you want to call it... she would no longer be human but something else. On an evolutionary scale. Like, all that Giger art we've seen where a female looks like she is part human, part mechanical... bio-mechanical.  There you go.

BigDave

MemberDeaconNov-22-2015 5:34 PM

Indeed RotGut...

Yeah i mentioned that comment.... and your reply is something i have ponder too, only that David uses Shaw in some way for some Agenda...  Shaw would want her Answers and we have to ask, is David a Man who can keep his Word... if he makes a Promise a Covenant (Agreement)  that he would take Shaw to  get her Answers..... then would he carry that out? and if she dies on the way.. would he then find a way to bring her back to life somehow...? or make a deal with the Hierarchy of the Engineers to bring her back to life... or so in someway her conscious, soul or spirit would be brought back?

And at what price would such a deal to do that, or at what price if its David who has a idea of how he can do that would there be any consequences?

So yeah something like this could be a interesting idea...

But we still dont know why Shaw is ommited.... and i doubt they would simply Kill her off screen like Newt and Hicks... in Alien 3.

He would at some point bring her into the movie (Ridley) be it Part 3 but then we have to question is Part 3 really going to be Part 2, and set after the events of Part 2?  Or maybe Shaw will be in Part 2 just because the Synopsis of the movie does not include her does not mean she would not be in the Movie... or that she wont be in the movie within the Time Frame of these New Travelers comming in...

HERE IS ANOTHER ANGLE WE MISSED!

Who says the David is David?  Can we rule out that Another Mission to LV-426 took place and that the Covenant Ship ends up on LV-426 or even LV-223 bare in mind the size of these Worlds even if only as Large as our own Moon, the area of the Derelict or indeed the LV-223 Outpost in Prometheus is just a smalll area of the entire World......   Maybe the 2nd movie could feature a different David...

But then again it said Prometheus lone Survivor.... but again whats to say David ended up going to Paradise? he could have gone to some other World related to the Engineers?

But i think it would be safe to assume that we are not talking the same System... because surely the Covenant would pick up Shaws SOS and be cautious unless David sends out a SOS to be rescued?  The Synopsis seems to indicate a futher place, and that the Ship thought they was heading for uncharted Paradise... now surely when they are surveying  a World for colonization they would have technology to detect that the World would to some degreee be able to sustain some kind of life... we have to assume that because well a Baron World would be no Paradise....  so did a probe inform them what ever place they go to is some kind of Paradise...  but by the time they set their ship to go to that place... David lands there and causes HELL?  Or did they intercept some comminication from Davids ship and follow where it was going..... maybe he relayed the destination co-ordinates to the Company?

Many many questions to be asked... of how this Covenant Ship ends up on the same planet that David is on.. and in What year?

The source i had did say that one concept work was a Giger Version of this.... where a Humanoid was connected to a Wall or Machine like the Deacon in the Mural was...

Superman 3 Robot Girl

Giger does have a number of Humanoids connected in such a way and they are always Female, Could this Answer why we see no Shaw?

The last one is just a Head..... the source says Humanoid so i assume full Body now i cant remember if they said in Cruciform, but they said like the Deacon Mural so maybe i assumed Cruciform as that Mural was....

A interesting thing is Ridley said recently something like he had something very Special in mind as far as David and how he is put back together but he does not want to spoil it.. or something like that i cant find the exact qoute...   to me this hints at more than Shaw simply puts his head back on, does he fuse with a Space Jockey suit?  Or has he got something very interesting in store.. and does this have to do with Shaw?

Who knows... maybe he does a Head Swap with Shaw... and has to find a way to keep Shaws Head Alive?  maybe i am trying to hard to connect Ridleys comment on his BIG PLANS for how David is back in one peice... with the ommsion of Shaw in the Synopsis and then considering the Sources mention of Shaw does not Technically die and a Humanoid attached to a Giger Inspired Machine... i cant help think of the one Giger Image above of that females Head lol
