I've said it before, but Green was brought on to try to fix things in 'Green Lantern' and sometimes things are so messed up, it's tough to fix them, which is what I think the case was with that movie.
In a recent interview with Sky Movies, Denis Villeneuve talks about why he decided to do 'Blade Runner 2'. One of which were his own abilities are at a level now where he is confident in himself to take on such a project, but the other thing is the screenplay that Hampton Fancher, Ridley Scott and Michael Green wrote. Fancher and Scott had a framework, but Green made it into a full fledged screenplay and filled in gaps. In the interview, Villeneuve says about Green...
"A young screenwriter that is a genius, Michael Green."
Also, not that Ridley Scott wouldn't lie or embellish to promote his work :-), but he said he got Harrison Ford on board with 'Blade Runner 2' because of the script. In this Yahoo! interview, Scott says this...
“I got Harrison back. Because Harrison said, ‘Meh,’ and I said, ‘No, read this.’ And I think he said, ‘This is the best script I’ve ever had.’ We’ve been working on it for a couple of years.”
I like what Villeneuve has done so far and the stories in the movies he has directed are great. The fact that the story for 'Blade Runner 2' and that he considers Green a genius, as well as Harrson Ford coming on board due to the script (if that is true, and it wasn't the paycheck :-)) are pieces of good news to me in regards to good stories for 'BR2' and 'Alien: Paradise Lost'.
