Ridley Scott has revealed some important details about Alien: Paradise Lost in an interview with Empire Magazine:

"In a way it is Prometheus 2. It’s exactly the same story. But it was always in the works to be called that [Alien: Paradise Lost]. Is Prometheus actually taking us off course from where I’m going, which is actually backing into the first Alien… I’ve even got connections with Ripley [in this], but I’m not telling you what."

It just gets better and better! :)

Will this mean that we can expect to see, at some point, the alien? Scott has previously said that going back to the design of the classic H.R. Giger xenomorph didn’t excite him. Good news – he’s changed his mind.

I think I have to go again,” he said. “We will see who made it, and why. That’s what’s interesting.

Whether that happens in this movie, or in the other two planned Promethalien movies, remains to be seen.

Thanks Shambs, just loved reading that! :)

@ LONE!

Perhaps Joney was never a real cat but an android cat.  The company arranged her to find Joney so that they could watch and record the goings on aboard the Nostromo?

@Mr Ruh....I've often thought that very same thing. It could explain why the Alien never 'hugged' or killed Jonesy. The crew would never suspect that he was anything but a regular moggy, meanwhile he was recording/relaying everything for the Company.

Meet Jonesy 1....company stealth spy!

Ripley connections?...hmmm.....What is Ripley's history? Did her parents work for Weyland? Maybe one of them is aboard the LV223 rescue ship. Ripley was born in 2092..about the time the Prometheus made first contact. is Ripley an orphan?

Maybe they are borrowing my Idea?

Shaws Flashback dream.....?  lol i had it where we had Flash Backs of a Sigourney with slight special effects make up to make her look similar but a bit different to Ripley and she would play the Gran Parent of Shaw who became her Guardian after the death of her Father.... a latter Scene would Show Shaw with another of Ripleys Great Grandmothers Grandaughters at the Funeral of this Older Woman played by Sigourney.... this other young female in her mid to late 20s is pregnant and at the Funeral she says she will name the Child after her Grandmother first name as her 2nd (Louise) and thus a connection between Shaw and Ripley.... as they share the same Great Grandmother/Grandmother

But who knows what connection they are going, i for one and a bit disapointed if we are going to be seeing Ripley in the Franchise... her time line should began with Aliens and ended with Alien Resurection unless they go with her in the Alien 5 timeline... but certainly no Ripley on Screen as faras Sigourney in the next 2 movies....

I can only think we will see a more connection to Alien by the time we get to see Part 4 of the so called new Franchise... i hope we are not going to be Spoon Fed and have to see the last movie being a Alien Prequel directly and especially if we are going for a timeline that is way after the 2000 years ago LV 223 Outbreak...  The Space Jockey has been there for thousands of years... please let it not be decades or Time Travel....

Once bitten Twice shy, this spoonfeeding has teeth and it's the spoon that is being fed! There's no time to Beg for more time before the creative process begins cause I ain't feeding no tool. See ya all at the great singularity.

Ridley is being very tricky when he is giving us Answers.... seems what he said before and now do not add up...

He makes little sense when you try and think about it, but i think this is because he is being vague.... and ambigious i hope that is the case and his last comments are not a sign of a U-Turn...

Sorry because if so i dont like it one bit.... RIPLEY SHOULD BE DEAD!!! After Alien 3.. gone dust! give us something new and different, they tried some ideas in Alien Resurection.... but they brought Ripley Back....

Now we have Alien 5 that is to bring back Ripley and how they explain her Age? There are ways.... but it seems its a way to basically ignore Alien 3 and Alien R and bring Ripley back for what? Alien 5, Alien 6... sorry but all they will do is make the ALIEN MOVIES Stale!  A re-hash a cash cow!  They even said that Ripley is the Alien Franchise.... sorry as David 8 said well did not!  Bing things dont have to always have Ripley Beginings..

But yep i fine with a Alien 5....

But to then bring Sigourney in for Prometheus 2 AKA Alien - 2 i.e a Prequel to a Prequel to maybe a Prequel... i hope not!

Ripley would only be 23 Months Old at the time Shaw and David set off from LV 223....  From this timeline Ripley would grow up she would work her way after School to different jobs until she became Warrent Officer on the Nostromo in 2122 where she as well as her Crew had no idea of what the Xeno was or LV 426 etc...

I hope the link is subtile and in a way to a relation to her being shown in the movie, or as my Prometheus 2 draft i worked on, it would have shown Sigourney play a Granparent of Shaw and another Female who is Shaws Cousin.  This Cousin at Shaws Granmothers (played by Sigourney) funeral reveals she is 6 months pregnant and is due to have the Child before her Fiance (Chris Ripley) gets back from Marine Tour, and this Cousin of Shaw who i called Shannon says to Shaw she will name her Child after her Grandmother Whos name is Louise Elanor Shaw, by calling her Ellen Louise...  this made a cameo and a connection...

something like this i could live with...

I cant see how else they can do it, but they could come up with some clever way but i would be disapointed with Ripley as in Sigourney being a part of Alien: Paradise Lost, MY WORST FEAR!!!! is what if thats the case, Ripley comes in a cameo and link in the movie... and she apears more in the 3rd movie and God Help us if the Shaw Dies and a New Female Lead comes in and thats Ripley.... even if its a younger Ripley played by another Actress and they have it oh latter she loses her Memory... or indeed any link that allows Ripley to be the Heroine in the Prometheus... sorry now Alien Franchise Prequels....

The only only other way we should see her is if David and Shaws journey to Paradise takes a very long time so by the time they get to Paradise the events of Alien have happened or even Aliens or also Alien 5?  This would help explain why no Engineers etc have came along in the time line of Alien and Aliens etc to wipe us out.... because if David and Shaw dont get there for like say near 100 years that would cover that incontinuity problem...

When it comes to Prometheus I liked the new ideas and questions about ourselves, religious-moral science of humanity and mankinds ethical doing in general etc. (questions like... where are we coming from [our origin], what man wants to become in the future, what we should do and let go). For sure it was not perfect and maybe a little kinky here and there but all in all Prometheus was the most interesting sci-fi movie in years.
Now.. Prometheus 2 going back into just another Alien flick? Named Alien: Paradise Lost? Well we saw that already so many times. A film studio taking over full control and telling the directors, writers and artists what to do... it never came out something interesting, unique, fresh or new out of such behaviour (yeah I know it's Hollywood but once Hollywood was free enough to give people Alien in 1979.. something new back in the days and also other movies with inspiring ideas). This decision to change the name into Alien* is a safe one ... nothing risky here and nothing new can be expected. So the title change didn't make me happy at all... it looks like 20th Century Fox told Scott finally what to do 100% in here.
For sure I will check out the upcoming movie and I am looking forward for it's release in the cinema but I fear we will not see something original like Scott showed us in 1979 with Alien. Sad because the Prometheus story background gave the chance & opportunity to come up with something really new & mindblowing, fresh ideas for the sci-fi genre in general.
...but the money makers decided to play the game safe = give the ticket buyers a save little action flick and most of them will leave the cinemas "happy", still "wearing" popcorn between their teeths.
Don't get me wrong, there is nothing bad about getting entertained as a moviegoer... Alien itself did.. just Prometheus-2 had the chance and the potential to be and do more.

Alien: Paradise Lost should have been called Prometheus: Paradise Lost but they hadn't the courage to stay with the Prometheus franchise (I guess because of the mixed reviews the first movie received... which is very sad). Sometimes people are not ready for something different and new... back in 1979 they were ready or better in 1968 they were (Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey), also in 1982 they were (Blade Runner). Nowadays it looks like people are not willing and able to get questioned a few things about themself... these days it looks like people want to get told what to think and what to do.. asking for instructions about everything in life, they want to get hugged by society and feel safe. Take a look at Nicolas Winding Refn films and public reactions... mixed to bad reviews for great movies. Stanley Kubrick in 2015 coming up with a movie like 2048: A Space Odyssey?? He would receive very, very bad reviews from the movie audience of today. No good times for mankind at all and exact stuff like that could and should have been thematised in Prometheus: Paradise Lost.
Just hoping the new movie will not be just another "run and gun the aliens down" kind of film, where I have to turn off my brain (like I said we had stuff like that so many times already).
Anyway... Ridley Scott and Neill Blomkamp showed the world what they can do as director in a good way (Alien, Blade Runner & Disctrict 9) and in a bad or not so good way (Robin Hood, Exodus & Chappie).

I just fear todays Hollywood and so todays Fox are not able, nor strong enough and willing to leave the creation of movies to the makers/directors, actors and storytellers.

but we remember... : While there's life, there's hope ^^.

Big Dave... Sigourney Weaver could be playing another Ripley, Maybe Ripley senior (her mother/grandmother) and Sigourney could have slight alternating facial make-up. We ser it all the time in Star Trek and othet shows where the same actor returns to play different characters each time.

She could even be playong Ripley in her present timeline and it keeps jumping back in the interplay b

(Continued from above)

Between Shaw and Davids narrative in their present and how the two parallel stories are juxtaposed with one-another. Events that Shaw and David set in motion in the past has direct or indirect bearing upon Ripleys future.

While Windows 10 was installing and just something to bridge the gap...(could start Alien:PL like this)

I wrote this:

"   John Ripley and his young daughter Ellen watched the United Nations Security vessel 'Gilgamesh' slam itself against the orbiting alien superstructure, the three million ton Gilgamesh shuddered, it's back broken, hull ruptured, vanished in a blinding flash of radiation.

What else could he do?

Just hours before, they had set the starship on a collision course and escaped in the Gilgamesh's lifeboat 'Marduk'. They were now watching the enormous explosion from the Marduk's bridge(nothing much to see, the burst of photons lasted a full second). He hoped the alien object the crew had named 'Darkspire' was damaged or even destroyed! Remote sensors relayed the results to the Marduk's holo viewer.......Nothing of the UNS Gilgamesh survived(nothing over 3 meters at least). The Darkspire was undamaged, the explosion had been absorbed or deflected. This was unfathomable alien technology.

It all started to sink in. His wife dead. His crew dead. His starship vaporized and all for nothing. His curiosity had killed them all. Guilt engulfed him. A captain always goes down with the ship, a sick and twisted oath he thought....No! He must save Ellen. He had promised his dying wife....

"Her eyes!! They had torn out her eyes!!"

He couldn't get the picture out of his head. He glanced again at the Marduk's airlock, that would put a end to this nightmare. No...He was clearly losing it. His only connection to sanity was Ellen, who was feeding the cat a food tube.......The Cat! Yes! He'd forgotten they'd saved 'Oh Susanna'. The tabby was just one of many aboard the Gilgamesh. Oh Susanna could take care of Ellen. He'd watched the cat kill many hull birds and corner bugs. She was more than a match for anything. Yes, Ellen would be safe with Oh Susanna.

"Oh! Susanna, don't you cry for me!" He giggled.

He placed his daughter in one of the hypersleep pods, Oh Susanna in another. Ellen hadn't uttered a word in hours. Still in shock? Oh Susanna didn't seem to be bothered by all the mutilations, John admired her for that.

"Well Ellen...." John's mind starting to go. He could hear someone crying in the airlock....

Ellen Ripley, daughter of John and Catherine Ripley, wasn't sure what was happening to her. She guessed something bad, but her daddy was here, her mommy was doing something somewhere and her kitty was fed. It was beddybyetime. As the sleep chamber closed and the cryo-gases started to take affect...she opened her eyes once more to glimpse her father.......and as it turned out, the last time she saw him alive."
