1

What is the possibility of blomkamp directing prometheus 2 ??

2

is there any other director that can say that he has 2 movies under top 10 sci fi movies of all time ??

3

what if the promtheus tie in to alien never happens because a sequel to alien blomkamp might just be that ?

4

if ridley had a choice would he want to direct prometheus 2 ??

5

was alien 3 made to get back at james cameron for what he did in aliens ?? heard some rumours about that ? can t substantiate it.

6.

would you like to see alien rebooted. i know i wouldn't like it.

7

did ridley or fox decide to hire paglen and green to write the prometheus 2 script ??

8

i have heard a new term being banded around. its called personal canon. i understand that to mean whatsoever you like or consider canon ? what do you guys think of that ??

9

what do you guys think ?? will alien blomkamp be a good or lousy movie ?? or will it be a movie that causes derision and division amongst fans ??

10

i heard rumours that ridley's son or grandson might have been used to direct prometheus? if this is true then what about jon spaight ideas was it that made ridley change his mind from pruducing to directing ?? what made him sit through 8 drafts with spaights ??

11

i often get the feeling that ridley decided after lindelof was brought to really just go for the over ambiguity angle .
the question is : do you think ridley might have just gone: meh.
lets just do what they want to i have better things to do with my time. like the time was a problem ??

please note: i cant substantiate any of the rumours or show you where i heard them its just thing i have read in the passage of time. sorry

1- The answer to this question, which fills me with the horror of 100 Morbs, is zero. I hope.

2- George Loofa, Steven Spielberf, James Carrion.

3- Then Prometheus has found its own way and only one adjustment was required to keep Neill Blomkamp from piddling on it.

4- Can you imagine forcing Ridley to do anything?

5- I don't think Alien 3 was revenge. But you never know.

6- Again, the horror of 100 Morbs

7- When Paglen was hired, Transcendence had yet to be released, but you'd think someone would have already known his weaknesses. It could be that he wrote something with enough merit to expand upon, or that Green was brought in to start over. Whose choice it was is anyone's guess, but I'm betting Fox.

8- I endorse personal canon. I have a hard time with the idea that whatever is officially sanctioned by a corporate entity is a valid advancement of a storyline. One author, one artist. Fine. But dozens of people? Nah. My personal canon is Alien and Prometheus. All the other films, books etc. have at least something to recommend them, insofar as I know. But I know what I like and my personal canon is just the two films.

9- There will be division and derision. One way or the other, I will participate.

10- it could be that there was a great clamor for Ridley to take the helm, if nothing else than for the sake of credibility. Probably, as the creative juices got flowing, Ridley got the bug to take the story somewhere new, or Fox was reluctant to do another Alien movie, or some combo of the two. I'd love to see the first and eighth drafts, just to appreciate the evolution.

11- I don't think Ridley said 'meh'. Prometheus is too rich with reference and subtext to be a 'meh' production. On the contrary, it's dripping with passion and creativity and excitement, and more respect for it's roots than many give it credit for.

oduodu- These are just my personal opinion, shaped by having followed these movies WAY too much!

Personally, I'm not real confident about Alien 5. Partially because I'm not a fan of the director (or the way the whole thing seems to have come about) and partially because I just don't see the need for it. But again, that's personal. Many will disagree!

If Blomkamp was given Prometheus 2 I would barf. I'd rather see JJ Abrams get it.

Ok that would make me barf too.

I think having 'Alien 5' come out will help protect 'Prometheus 2' from some criticism as I'm sure some of the people who had "problems" with 'Prometheus' wanted more xenomorphs and not a new direction and story.

Ok i will try answer these but may be tough lol

1) I am not sure but i doubt it, especially if he is working on a Alien 5 movie, for Fox to had put the Green Light on that must mean it would be out within 3 years, and it seems Prometheus 2 would be out within 2 years and so i just cant see Blomkamp Directing Prometheus 2.

2) Im with Major Noob on this one there are a few but as far as constant Sci Fi hits, then Lucas, Speilberg and Cameron have done so.

3) We cant be sure right now but i would say that Prometheus 2 will leave us some more clues about vague connections, and that Alien 5 will come across some things that would tie in those connections, be that LV 223, or maybe re-engineering of Xeno DNA.  So i feel Weyland Corp may either use something from LV 223 to re-engineer the Xeno to produce similar to what Prometheus 2 and Prometheus losely showed... or the company re-engineer Xeno DNA and produce something we see similar in Prometheus and Part 2.

4) As Major Noob said, if Ridley did not want to be a part of the franchise he would not had done so, i think the opposite is true and Ridley wants to be a part of Prometheus 2 and even make sacrifices to what he wants so that he can at least be a part of it as opposed to letting Fox then get someone else to then work on the movie and maybe add ideas that Ridley would not have liked.

5) I am honestly unsure, and i doubt that they wanted to kill off Camerons Heros just because someone did not like what he did with the Alien franchise... i find this doubtful.

6) I would not like to see Alien re-booted, but re-boots have been done with a number of movies, and a concern for me is not Alien, but that after Alien 5 that they would reboot Aliens...

7) We cant be sure of the process, but somethings seem to show that Ridley had more to maybe do with Paglen and Fox with Green comming in to change things.

Paglen may had been brought in because of the BIG IDEAS behind Transendence and how they want a writter with such big out there ideas for Prometheus because they have a very interesting idea they want to go with it....  And then Green was brought in to touch up some of those ideas.

8) Personal Canon is just that, it varies to everyones ideas and so  no two people may have what they consider as Canon.... Certainly Alien to Alien 3 appears to be Canon for most people and many are on the fence with Alien R

Prometheus is indeed suposed to be Canon and Alien 5 is also suposed to be Canon, but how that will effect the Canon of the movies after Aliens is unknown at this point but it is not suposed to interfer with them.

9) A lot could change from now to when that movie is out... we can not be sure if Blomhamp has full control over the movie as rumour is Ridley will play a big role too and maybe to try and keep the movie within the boundaries of Alien and Prometheus for sure, and to make sure the movie lives upto and has that Alien Franchise feel the first 3 did and not what Alien R and AVP movies maybe had.

10) I cant comment on the Ridleys son aspect,  but it seems Ridley did like what Spaights was comming up with and then wanted to be the one to put that to Screen, but Fox maybe wanted to change a few things and brought in Lindeloff.

11) I think Ridley did like some of the changes Lindeloff had made, we can not be sure what process happened between it and the movies edit and cutting as Lindeloffs draft was actually better than the movie we got on screen and we have to remember the entire set of scenes that was shot, was never used and some was cut and edited and re-aranged and some of this added to the movie being as it was.

Membrane...

I see your point about maybe having Alien 5 to please Alien fanboys so they get some fix for their need for Xenos.... so that Prometheus 2 can steer away from it a bit.

But i am not sure that would work, and i think  while in part true, i do think they would have to in Prometheus 2 and a 3rd movie if they do one, that they would have to lay some more clues to the Xeno connection without giving us a Xeno movie..

What seems to be interesting is that there could be a mission to LV 223 as part of a sub plot to Prometheus 2.

In Prometheus Weyland wanted to meet these Gods, so they can grant him more life, while Vickers wanted to see what could be gained to the benefit of Weyland Industies and i am sure she rather Weyland not get what he wanted and also she rather be back on Earth to take over the company....  If Weyland was granted more life, i am sure he would have wanted to explore how the Engineers could grant him that and how he could apply their Technology to the better of the Company.

And i think this is what the companies Agenda will be....

Holloway wanted to prove that mankind was not created by a magical God, but by some advanced race... and Shaw had Holloways theories proved correct but she wants to know why these beings created us and wanted us dead.

So any Weyland mission would not be to find out about the connection of the Engineers to Mankind, as far as LV 223 mission aspect... it would be to find out what happened to the crew and what Technology these Engineers left behind.

The God connection would be answered by Shaw and Davids mission.

Membrane- it is possible that the promise of an Alien 5 will provide Prometheus with broader acceptance, that's taking the positive view!

Big Dave- I never looked, was that Prometheus leak taken down? I'm imagining if not then it's credibility is questionable?

The idea of an all android crew makes sense and has great potential, I'd love to see it but not as multiple Davids! That just feels corny. A bunch of badass Japanese Replicants with cold dead eyes would be cool. Especially if one managed to catch up with David and Shaw.

oduodu- no matter what, there are some fun movies on the way. Will it be a snack or a banquet, that is the question !

I've been thinking about the possibility of Cameron himself stepping in to direct Prometheus part 2 or 3.  Cameron visited the set of Prometheus to show Ridley how to use the 3D cameras; and I think he proved to the company that he can still handle huge sci-fi space epics with Avatar (from a directorial perspective).

That might be part of the reason Ridley chose to include visual references to ALIENS in Prometheus. Maybe Cameron can step in again if Ridley steps away (if Cameron and Sigourney aren't too busy filming Avatar 2/3/4 in their secret underwater filming location...). Would people be okay with Cameron returning to the series?
