Nice one Claudius.

"Dark Paradise" eh. I wonder if that is a working title?

I reckon she knows a hell of a lot more that she is saying.

"Sometimes in order to create something new, you must first destroy", sums up the engineers really. Just creating life to wipe it out and start again until they make something "perfect". Maybe we'll meet their creators/gods.

Looking forward to the next film and hopefully getting some answers to a lot of questions.

I think only Ridley Scott and the writers have knowledge of what it's going on with this "dark paradise" and maybe she's just speculating like us lol

She definitely knows more than she lets on you can tell by her body language and if there is a draft done, you can bet Ridley has pitched the outline of it to her.

The movie has not hinted it will not cover the Alien, i feel Ridley will give us more clues without having to show us Xenos to basically shut the door and give us answers.

What do i mean? Prometheus never showed us the Space Jockey, it never showed us the Eggs and how they got there, it never showed us what happened to the Derelict....

All Prometheus did was show us the Space Jockey does for all intensive purposes be related to the Engineers/is a Engineer or genetic relation i.e Elder...   And that the Juggernaught and Derelict are in effect related and they both are used as Bio-Weapon Cargo Ships.

So while we never knew the Space Jockeys story, we knew from Alien and onwards that he got infected with his Cargo that Prometheus now showed us this Race did use those Ships to carry Bio-Weapons.

Thus we knew the Engineers and Space Jockey are related, and the Ships are Bio Weapon Carriers.

So we was given more light to the Space Jockey, his Ship and its purpose from Prometheus, that is a Giant Humanoid in Bio-Mechanical Suits onboard Bio Mechanical Ships carrying Bio Weapon Cargo that while different... are connected.

All this we can now gather about the Space Jockey, yet Prometheus never once showed us the Space Jockey, and Derelict and how it crashed on LV 426... we dont need to had seen that to know what happened.

Thus we dont need to see Xenos in Part 2 or 3 but i am sure we need to see some clues as to how there is a connection between the Urn Bio Weapons and Eggs and thus Xeno.

So now moving onto where they are going....

Well Rapace has not told us anything different to what we know all ready, and that is we are going to follow Shaw and David as they search for Answers on Paradise, the place these Engineers come from...

This place will not be Paradise, not as in what Mankind would think of as Paradise.. why? who knows.

Maybe we can only assume maybe LV 223 was also not a place of Death, not all along, so many clues point to such... the Big Head, the Breathable Atmosphere, the invitation, the whole long winded process from Sacrificial Scene, to Mankind.. the clues the Engineers came back over and over and taught us how to Advance Technologically...

Till something changed as far as their stance on how they viewed us...

The fact she mentions Devil, and Ridley that the Engineers was like Dark Angels or Fallen Angels, and also one of the production team be that Ridley or Lindeloff also mentioned them as Fallen Angels but the ones at the Start as Angels.

This has to point to some rebellion of some kind.....so what was once before is no longer there...  What i am saying is take Sadam Hussains Regime, or Gadaffis, in which they was a Tyrant Empire, Sadams Son would have inherited Iraq, Gadaffis  Libya ... like Kim Jong-il empire now ran by his son Kim Jong Un.... This is before Sadam and Gadafis Empires where toppled.. all that is left is Chaos in its Void... (not be saying it was better or ideal before hand).

My point being these Engineers was not so much Evil beings that Ridley is portraying well how he wants to, well can Gods be taken as Evil if we are insignificant compared to them.. are we Cruel because we Slaughter Animals for Food i.e Chickens and Cows, or Pigs, is that mankind being Malevolent?

Ridley says these Engineers, well who ever Shaw finds are not Benevolent ... this does not mean they are Evil and Malevolent... just that their actions to us may not seem Benevolent.  Maybe like if Chickens was intelligent beings then our actions to them are not Benevolent.

Another interesting thing is Ridley says that they will find something/someone because he says they will not find a Benevolent Being and what they find is not God, not in the traditional Sense...

The Biggest clue is when he said and pondered what would happen if the Goo was to be used on God or Machine and that David was bringing Hell with him.. (the Cargo of the Ship he and Shaw are on).

So what can be made by God or Devil.....

Depends how we take it into context, when we think of the Devil we think of Evil.... now without going into a Religious debate... the Koran and Bible depict some pretty evil deeds done by well God and those following his word, so its not essential that the Devil is Evil.

We associate Devil with Evil, so if we go that route its saying that the God they find is well Evil..

If they are going literally well kind off as THE DEVIL... well this represents Rebellion.  The Devil simply means against God...  his tale is of Rebellion.

Pretty much could be seen as those who rose up against many empires in the past, be that the recent uprisings in Syria to more Ancient ones.

Simply a sign of a leader, a government, a empire that has some parts of it rebel and replace it...

Thus in context of Prometheus it could show us that the supposed Godlike beings Shaw was hopping to find have either, had a rebellion where the Evil/Dark side of the Engineers has taken control..... of where the Engineers have rebelled against their creators?

Or some other kind of rebellion has taken place...

I am going to Assume but logically some broad strokes we shall see in Part 2.... These are all based off What Ridley has said about Prometheus....

1). The main plot of the movie is where Shaw and David go, and they will likely go to Paradise as Ridley said the place they find is far from Paradise, so while David could take her elsewhere we go with other comments by Rappace about going where the Giant Creatures (Engineers) come from, which as David points out is Paradise.

2). What they find is not Paradise in what we would traditionally think of, and it will be a place more like Hell, than Paradise.  Could this mean its a place in turmoil?  Or that indeed the inhabitants are a far from friendly Race.

3). They will meet the Gods most likely in this movie, as Ridley did not want to meet the Gods in the first movie which means our Engineers are not God.  Maybe the removal of the Elders Scene is so Ridley can redesign this race, or that he intends the Elders and Engineers to be the same however he does not want them to look aged, thus scrap the Elder Look and stick with the Engineer look.

But as they said these Engineers are not God... and the God or Gods they find are not God in the traditional Sense... could this mean no magical being in the sky, or not Humanoid in the slightest?

4). These Engineers referred to as Dark Angels are not Benevolent to Mankind, and the God like beings they find at the top of the hierarchy are far from Benevolent...

This will raise some questions as to the Elder Scene but for all intensive purposes Ridley could be going the route that we have to simply ignore the Elders from that scene they did not exist.. or look and act as they appeared in that scene but instead something more sinister...

But then Questions need to be raised as to why they visited Earth, and Upgraded us, if they had sinister plans... either they on Paradise was not aware of our creation and thus it was work of a rebellious section, or that those who created us have been overthrown, or that they simply grown upset at mankind.

5). David is bringing Hell with him, which means we would be seeing the Ship carrying some kind of Cargo, that has the potential to be unleashed and i think would be unleashed upon the Engineers and whoever else they find on Paradise. If we assume this ship was also carrying Urns containing Bio-Weapon DNA altering Substance, then we could see some more Mutations, but would these have Xeno traits?  Maybe or maybe not as the Ship David took may have came from another Temple Mound/Hanger that has a different DNA inside than the ones in Prometheus.

6). Ridley hinted what happened, if the Goo infected God, or a Machine, this could imply for sure the Engineers and whatever else is on Paradise would become infected with the Goo, but it also could imply that David somehow infects himself with the substance.. Or that indeed God is a Machine but maybe not in the traditional sense.. But a Living Biological Machine like the Juggernaughts and Derelict Seemed.

7). It appears they will be using some of Gigers Artistic Style in the movie, however we wont see anything that closely related to the Xeno... but Giger has designed many Bio-Mechanical Pieces of Art Work.

Well, here is my own peculiar take on things. At the beginning of Prometheus we are shown big dudes pointing at the same star constellation at periodic intervals in earth history. So these big dudes like to come and go, but have an agenda that is unknown.

We know that the black goo can create life as well as destroy it. Shaw gives birth, yet is supposed to be unable to get pregnant, so maybe the engineers were planning on returning some 2000 yrs previous to find three wise men and a virgin.

They obviously did’nt, but did something else? This is where I like the faction idea.

There is also a counter argument that to be able to create one must first destroy. That being, in order to destroy one must first create.

Basically, there are equal and opposite perceptions about what good and evil may be. So if we are looking at some ancient creator. Could that creator have been the Devil. It is very easy to say, God is good and is the true creator, but going back into very early earth history one of the oldest religious beliefs was in Baal.Baal makes things interesting because it can work on both sides of any creation story. Is Baal the Devil, or God ?

This makes me wonder if the Engineers were trying to destroy something good, or  maybe create something evil.

Maybe P2 is going to have us questioning the concept of good and evil in a unique way.

I think there's a duality in man.  A potential for good and evil within all of us.

"We are the gods now" and we are also the devils.  Weyland corp is the devil.  They try to trick you while out in the desert.   A bunch of 666's show up on their screens throughout the film.  Peter Weyland liked to compare himself to the Titan Prometheus, but he was more like Hades... He's more like the devil, he only wishes he was Zeus or a Titan. Weyland corp's actions have proven they will go to any length to get the Alien.  They also refer to LV-426 by the alternate name Archeron (which is the River of Woe in the Greek Underworld).  They may know about some sort of real underworld, which is related to the deepest levels of the subconscious... Hell is deep within us.  "You don't see them screwing each other over for a percentage".  The Engineers worship the Alien for its purity. We can't perceive it.

Weyland talked about his morality in the TEDtalk.  He thought laws, rules, and restrictions were holding science back.  Started out with good intentions, but unfortunately his loose morals informed the company's evil behaviour for years to come.  I believe that in some ways the Weyland corp company, and the colonies they're spreading in space are the devil.

I also think David himself is almost an anti-christ figure.  No matter what David physically carries he's bringing hell within him. A lot of Weyland's personality rubbed off, David's not completely free of the Lawrence of Arabia programming yet. The goo can be used for good or bad purposes.  We've seen that Engineers can create or destroy life.  Sometimes you must experience evil before you can truly experience good.  Evil exists so we can gain a frame of reference and fully understand what "good" is.  It gives us something to reflect upon and to grow towards or away from. It allows us to have freewill.

Everyone defines their morality in different ways. We all have a different sense of morality.  The serpent had to trick Eve into biting the apple of knowledge.  It was only after gaining knowledge of both good and evil that we became truly free.  The concept of good presupposes, or at least occured at the same time as, the concept of evil.  What I'm getting at is that you can't arrive at one extreme without at least knowing a bit about the other.

The Garden has been lost to us now. Paradise has been lost to the Engineers.  The group with the seed-shaped crafts (The Gardeners) decided that it was time we learn to choose things for ourselves.  Some of the Engineers didn't like this. It might lead to us eventually overthrowing them; however, they had to follow the orders of the hierarchy at the time.  In my theory there are no "good" or "evil" Engineers -- they simply behave in ways dictated by their culture and fill a certain role in a bigger hierarchy.  Some individuals choose to go against things, but there are no factions locked in perpetual disagreement.  For the most part the Engineer culture is on the same page, and some are just following what they think is supposed to be done with our species.

We are unclean, and we never should have approached the alter.  The Engineers are closer to the infinite creators than us. We're not worthy yet to meet their makers.  We're only allowed to meet our makers. They want to start over.  The infinite creators might be a little evil if they created the potential evil within all of us.  If the serpent in the garden of eden didn't offer Eve a choice life would get boring.  God may have a sense of irony.  He may be a bit of a trickster, like David.  It may work in mysterious ways.

If everything is part of creation then the devil serves a purpose.  Otherwise, there'd be no reason for evil to exist alongside good. If "God" didn't want evil to exist then he shouldn't have allowed it to exist in the first place! Everything would be almost too perfect if evil didn't exist.  There would be nothing to choose between.  No temptation to separate the good from the bad and guide our own personal ideas about morality.  The Alien is free of delusions of morality.  The serpent possesses knowledge of both good and evil.

In Alien: Resurrection the ex-Weyland scientist hints that the Alien can be used to achieve medical breakthroughs. The facehugger can replace its cells.  Ripley 8 could heal from her wounds. Hammerpede can regrow its entire head. Some of the stages in the life-cycle have amazing defensive mechanisms bordering on immortality.  Weyland was looking in the wrong places.  The Alien DNA is the key.

Basically, the Alien organism is able to be used for good or evil. As a bioweapon, or for medical purposes.

Perhaps there's a twisted logic behind the company's goal that we don't understand because of their cost-benefit analysis system.  The Alien is worth more to them than all the hours of work the employees could provide.  The crew was expendible according to their careful calculations and predictions.  The Nostromo incident was a cold, calculated act. Motivated by greed and logic instead of a completely evil act

The religious symbolism in Ripley's resurrection is more relevant now. There may be be a reason the prisoners in Alien 3 believed in a higher power.  When Ripley made her sacrifice in Alien 3 she jumped cruciform into lava.  There are parallels with the sacrficial Engineer's jump into the water.  The android Call chose to believe in a higher power for some strange reason... The religious elements are something that have already found their way into the series in subtle ways.  An android created Call's free androids, and gave them the ability to choose between good and evil. The cross became a symbol of freedom and choosing what to believe to them. That's why Call and her free androids worship it during Alien Ressurrection... Ripley 8 had no clue.  Others know where ALIEN5 can go.

I believe Call to be the only "good" android so far.  Bishop was hiding things. He might not have screwed Ripley over directly, but he says some interesting things when she reactivates his head in Alien 3. It makes me think he knew the eggs were on the ship all along, yet didn't place them.

Who placed the serpent in the Garden of Eden? Was that god then?  This is all assuming that there is a god.  I guess the serpent was kinda just hanging out there in the Garden of Eden waiting for Adam & Eve to show up.  Every creature/life cycle is part of the biosphere, so maybe it was created at the same time as Adam and placed in the Garden by the Gardeners/Engineers for some important purpose. If the serpent didn't tempt Eve then we'd still be living in the Garden of Eden and everything would be a paradise; however, we wouldn't have freewill. We'd only imagine that we're free.  We wouldn't have the ability to choose.

Females are biochemically equipped to tolerate more pain than males.  They need higher pain tolerance because of childbirth. Females actually have the potential to be better survivors. "The trick is not minding that it hurts".  Shaw had it "in her". "Good survival instincts".   David has a choice over words.  He has some freedom of choice. It is almost impossible for an android or a clone to develop a real soul. We may start to ask the question, "do clones have souls?" "Did real Ripley's subconscious and soul move into Ripley 8?".  This is just how I see it going eventually...

The symbol of the Alien eating its own tail is a variation of an ancient symbol.  Similar to the winged globe used in the Weyland logos.  The serpent that eats its own tail may have been chosen as one of the symbols for the Alien series for a very deep reason.  It's related to immortality, death/rebirth, eternity, etc.

Ridley may be correct and the Alien is dead.  But it may also be in between life and death -- in between good and evil. It's both dead and alive.  Like a fungi or a spore.  "Big things have small beginnings".  By the end the Alien will be immortal.  It fills a niche and serves a purpose as the perfect decomposer in larger life-cycles.  We can trick it back to life and give it a rebirth.  Ripley 8 had very few memories of her true self. Her memories couldn't be completely recovered, she learned English all over again. There are all sorts of parallels being setup between David 8 and Ripley 8.  I think an Alien 5 will happen eventually, and that Ripley's story isn't really over as Sigourney hinted... The ideas Joss had in mind for how to salvage Alien Resurrection after the studio forced him to write it that way can still be used... At one point Whedon, Cameron, and Ridley each talked to Fox about ALIEN5. I choose to believe that Prometheus 2 is only removing Aliens and focusing on everything else to set the stage for ALIEN5 (it has to be spelled that way, without a space). The serpent will eat its own tail with the way it connects to the end of the series instead of the beginning, and enhances the way we look at it. We will understand that all life-cycles are part of a much bigger life-cycle.  Every living thing needs an energy source. "No man needs nothing".

Interesting ideas.... and insight..

But i still think Ridleys comments are key and he and Lindeloff have refered to the Engineers as Fallen Angels on LV 223 and yet the ones at the start as Angels, and creators and others as Destroyers.

He could be saying Fallen Angels to refer to the Engineers being servents and creations of a Higher Being or Race, and servants that are well not good as far as there intentions for Earth, yet its implied the Sacrificial Engineers intentions was good.

So Fallen meaning that for some reason the Engineers on LV 223 had hostile plans towards us and indeed those that are left on Paradise likewise.... yet at the start of the movie they may not have had malevolent intentions.

Or the Fallen could refer to as in the Bible/Koran which are portrayed as above to a degree but the underlinning Truth is they are simply a Faction of Angels that have rebelled against the wishes and plans of God, and chosen to not obey his wishes and they set about doing things that is against Gods will.

Thus what they was doing in context to Prometheus was against the plans of God or at least the other Engineers....

So maybe at somepoint a rebellion occuried or indeed the Engineers grew out of love and favour with us, but why?

I think these are the things Shaw wishes to find out....

I dont think these Engineers and Elders or who ever can be classed as truly Evil, because to them we are merly seen maybe as we ourselves see Lifestock... can we be considered Evil because we eat Chickens that are usually kept locked in small spaces and then slaughtered for food... they are used for our own Agenda and that is Food.

Does that make mankind cruel?  Would be if we did that to fellow Humans, but Chickens are not regarded by us as being on the same level as us.. thus we are not considered the same level as the Engineers.

As far as Hell that David Brings, i think that is 100% refering to the Bio-Weapon these Engineers on LV 223 was created to wipe out/reset life on Earth and now David is goin to use that upon the Beings found on Paradise... and/or himself to upgrade himself to something powerful and deadly.
