Rex Fans need not fear! Length and weight estimates for 'junior' have been established. While not the largest, MOR 008 has surpassed sue in length. At 12.57 meters, and 7 tons MOR 008 shows that Tyrannosaurus did get longer then sue, increasing the average - and perhaps even the maximum - length for the species.

You stated MOR 008 was a Sub adult, Young animals have larger heads in proportion to their bodies.
It's entirely possible young tyrannosaurs shared this feature. Maybe "Junior" is just a bit big headed? If not, he's truly enormous. One can only speculate how large he would have gotten if he reached maturity..

MemberCompsognathusApr-15-2014 1:29 PMDon't know about that weight(7 tons for Mor 008 and 6 for AMNH 5027 seem a little light to me). I would have put them at 8-9 tons and 7.5-8 tons respectively. Either way, interesting.
