Hey Daikaiju fans!

As some of you know, I am a big music nerd (especially with soundtracks), and I have researched on Alexandre Desplat's work. From what I've heard, he is a very good composer, and I am curious on how he will incorporate fear and terror in the Godzilla 2014 score.

I have also noticed that many Gfans have no clue who Alexandre is, so here are a few or his pieces that I think would sound like something in godzilla 2014:

What do you think of his music?

"The monster movies, I’ve never been really into that, but when I saw Gareth Edwards’s first film, Monsters, I was hooked. It was very character-driven. So yes, Godzilla is another story than Philomena, because it’s nonstop fortissimo, with lots of brass, Japanese drums, and electric violin. But I still try to find the soul the film.”

Alexandre is pretty awesome, and an icredible composer.  I'm a pretty big soundtrack nerd myself, and I am very familier with Alexandre's work through his Harry Potter scores.  Very few of those film's soundtracks truly impressed me after John Williams depated the series following the third movie, but this guy's did.  It is very moving and powerful, and works well with character driven moments.  That will be pivotal in this film.  His score for The King's Speech was pretty amazing as well, and that film is driven purely by the charactors' journey through the events of the film.  Alexandre's music is very versatile and, most importantly, classically influenced.  I fell like his score for Godzilla will be something special, combining epic grandure with emotional power, all with an old school (yet still modernized) classical backbone.  I cannot wait to see what he has in store for us with the soundtrack for thi film. :)

Man, now I'm even more exited for this film! (Didn't think that was even possible)

Can't wait to hear what this guy has in store for us. I loved Ifukube's music, but this will be the Godzilla music of a new generation!

Holy crap.  King of Zombies, I just read the article you posted (thank you for that, by the way!), and... he's a fan of Bernard Herrmann?!?!?!?! :O

This movie is going to ROCK!!!!!!!!

Totally dig Desplat. Zero Dark Thirty and The Ides of March are my favorites of his. I'm excited to hear the combination of an electric violin with Japanese drums. Should be a pretty powerful score.

Here's some other pieces to help expectations:

I can imagine the first two being a vague representation for Godzilla and parts of the third underscoring the military. Not that I expect it to sound exactly like those pieces at all, but it's probably the closest of his current material.
