MemberPraetorianOct-17-2013 2:38 PMWell, I wouldn't worry Custodian, as anyone can add to the page it will not be official/confirmed info!
Mind you, perhaps there's been a Brandywine revolution and they've given the directing reigns to David Cronenberg.......no.....no.......dream on Lone! :-D

MemberFacehuggerOct-17-2013 2:38 PMHe was the producer of the first film to. However, I wouldn't take anything on IMDB seriously just yet in this early stage. It also lists Danny Webb (Morse, Alien 3) in the list of credits. It also lists Walter Hill as a producer and misses out David Giler as they both run Brandywine Productions. So I wouldn't worry just yet as Lone said anyone can add things to the page.

MemberPraetorianOct-17-2013 2:48 PMI was only joking above, can't really see anyone else but Ridley directing!

MemberOvomorphOct-18-2013 1:47 PMLone,
LOL, of course, thought you were just having a dig at my old suggestion that Cronenberg might have been a MORE VISCERAL director choice for any Alien Reboot.

MemberPraetorianOct-18-2013 2:44 PMHey Custodian,
Yes, David Cronenberg would be absolutely perfect for the job. I mentioned over on AvP, that any further instalments to that universe could take a whole new direction under his wing!

MemberFacehuggerOct-18-2013 9:32 PMPersonally I would'nt mind seeing what John Carpenter would bring to the table. After all he did the original Alien movie, but just from a different aspect.

MemberOvomorphOct-20-2013 3:13 AMBatchpool,
of course Carpenter's THING was superb! And so (imho) was the PROPER PREQUEL to it aka The Scandinavian-actor'd film. I kinda loved that whole GETTING TO THE POINT where The Thing started. And it's not always a 'done deal'. Just because you have a destination to get to doesn't mean the journey will be boring or predictable or need go through some parallel-world narrative distraction.
The Thing prequel got on with it and told 'its story' about how the dog got to the American base. Done. I'm happy, especially with the size of the ice-buried spaceship and the transmutative lifeform that flew it.
For me, the CORE ISSUE of the enormous Elephantine/Ganesha hyperspace driver in the telescope-seat of his STRAIGHT ARMS space ship carrying a cargoload of facehugger eggs really needs REBOOTING. I want to know where that elephant came from and how/why he welds with his seat. Don't give me fucking exhaust flashes coming out of a derelict's arse, give me transmatter drive and transdimensional visionary feedback.
Mankind and Ganesha-beast never met, so all this Von Daniken-ness in the Eden script was just booooooooooring, to me. Religiously contrived. Kinda insidious.
I just want my SINGLE XENO UNIT who can self replicate and transform lifeforms into eggs, and is fucking sexy as fuck and alluring enough to impregnate you beyond your wishes. What is the link between the facehuggers and their prey? NEVER EXAMINED in Prometheus, as Scott promised. But no it's another parallel narrative, as Lindelof showed he loves to do ref: Spock's tedious time travel'd cameo in Star Trek Reboot.

MemberPraetorianOct-20-2013 1:14 PMGood call Batch! Carpenter seems to have lost his way, but certainly was a fine director. His Thing is in my top 5 Sci-fi movies!
@Custodian, totally agree. I would love to see our beloved Space Trucker and single Giger Alien rebooted in the way it should have been. As opposed to the multiple bugs and diminished insects of the Alien sequels.
Cronenberg could take the dark Universal Giger Matter to the extreme!

MemberOvomorphOct-23-2013 12:55 AMCronenberg has really MATURED as a director, too, in his recent batch of 'psycho-realist' drama, so one would HOPE so... :)

MemberOvomorphOct-23-2013 5:32 AMSince there's hardly any news on P2, I think it's safe to assume they put the project on ice for now.
Fox was like: 'wow, look at all these pissed off fans... maybe we should think twice before slapping a name on a product and what it's related to. Better give them all the answers on blu-ray'
-.-
Before the movie came out I heard a rumor that 'there were giant beasts lurking outside their spaceship' and all. (like, giant Spacejockeys who were the xenomorph's master? No albino dudes?) Oh well, can't have everything in life.
Man, they could have done sooooo much more with the source material. Stupid pg-13. I just know Scott was held back by the studio, the rating for this film, the budget, etc.
30 years later and this is the best they got.
You don\\\'t see them fucking each other over for a goddamn percentage!

MemberOvomorphOct-23-2013 5:51 AMAnd to be honest, screw Lindeloff, like you said Custodian: so many poisonous knots in this story that only he can untangle. PFFF...I'd love to see him try cleaning up this mess, with Jesus-aliens, x-files-goo that can do everything, drunken thugs, biologists who pet alien snakes, Janek who favors a quick shag in stead of the crew members safety, scientists who cannot tell wether a structure is natural or not, crew-members getting lost despite having everything mapped, why it matters Weyland was Vicker's dad ( It's not Star Wars for pete's sake) etc. Where do you even begin? Jesus H. Christ.
And where is the cat/dog/oxen's performance/ scene? imo Vickers or anyone should have had a pet on board, one that would hiss and warn the crew about the ass-backwards zombie outside their ship :/ again, zippo...
****, the more I think about it...this movie makes my blood boil and my brain melt.
You don\\\'t see them fucking each other over for a goddamn percentage!

MemberPraetorianOct-24-2013 2:03 PMHey Gimme!! Hope you feel better after getting that off your chest! This is the place to come to vent the Prometheus Frustration Factor! PFF …who's next? :-D
Seriously, I am of the same mind & there should definitely have been a ships cat, in the tradition of Jonesy, who was in league with the Alien!
Just sayin' :-D

MemberFacehuggerOct-24-2013 2:29 PMIts all gonna be fixed in part 2 -the god like being was mind controlling them from across the galaxy. Itll jump back and show us what it was doing I.e. turning top scientists into dumbasses. :D

"Lightning flashes coming out its rear"
LMFAO !!!!
One of the best posts I have ever read on this forum !!!
If only once in my miserable life I could here Ridley say:
Here is what I wanted in alien 2 or alien prequel movie ..........
Because it seems that spaihts came up with the idea of sj being a humanoid in a suiit . But Riodley simply never sayas what he would have done - same as cameron he simply never explored it
Because no one really cares ?
I do
Yes I agree if they want to go back to the true spirit of alien then the sj is not a suit but a elephantine humanoid creature that was killed by his cargo.
As was the case with alien and is the c4e with prometheus now - tey threw a mixture of elements together that was simply never supposed to make sense.
So that a lot of the mystery remained. And yes a remake is most the only route to go.
But now prometheus has been made and I love it because however over anbiguous it is and however whatever you say about it it does in a way take us to at least the possibility of exploring the mysteries even if it is not what we expected.
But what can you do ???
As with all things in life we rarely get to choose what we want.
Why did it take 30 years before anyone came back to alien to at least take a look at it again ???
Lone
MemberPraetorianOct-26-2013 12:55 PMIf Ridley Scott had been allowed to make a sequel to Alien all those years ago..............well, the SJ probably would have been a 20ft elephantine being in a UGM cosmos!
What do we want?......UNIVERSAL GIGER MATTER!!!
When do we want it?........NOW!!!

MemberOvomorphOct-27-2013 4:08 PM@ Lone, yeah thanks bud. Everytime I come here to discuss this movie I end up ranting.
I really needed confirmation on P2 and we FINALLY got it!
I'll be first in line to go see it.
Bring on the mature deacon(s), the engineer race's culture, history, background, (subtle) nods to the Alien movies etc.
I want answers. :)
