Welcome, ladies and gentleman, to my daily DinoFight. I always appreciate my loyal readers, but for those of you who are new, every day I pit two of the most formidable dinosaurs to ever exist against one another in a fight to the death (most of the time). Today is a special edition with a bonus story at the end, showing my version of the alternate Jurassic Park timeline DinoFights takes place in. Many parallels, but it differs in many ways as well. Medium division, quarter finals, fight 25: Ceratosaurus vs Cristatusaurus *I hate planning weddings...too time consuming, but I need the 19th to be perfect! InGen File: Ceratosaurus [img]http://fc08.deviantart.net/fs36/i/2008/273/1/e/Ceratosaurus_by_highdarktemplar.jpg[/img] Code Name: Cerato Danger Level: Extremely dangerous Height: 13 feet Length: 30 feet Weight: 3 tons Speed: 25 mph Diet: Carnivore, occasional omnivore Description: Ceratosaurus lives on Isla Nublar where it competes with both Allosaurus and Torvosaurus most of its life. Despite being smaller than them Ceratosaurus makes up for it with ruthless aggression and a very flexible diet. The Ceratosaurus males are tan or grey with black or dark brown stripes down their body and a red head and neck. Females have a similar pattern but are black instead of light brown, have white stripes and have a grey or white face with black markings around their eyes and nose. They also have smaller eye and nose crests and brighter yellow irises. Although preferably predators of various stegosaurs and other similar sized prey, Ceratosaurus are very opportunistic predators that will eat humans, small rats or monkeys, carrion, small sauropods or other carnivores and in some cases have been observed eating berries when desperate. Being highly aggressive due to their large medulla oblongata, they are a match for almost any predator of the same size. Their teeth are very long and blade-like and have crowns up to 6 inches long. They are curved and serrated, something that makes them deadly weapons. Ceratosaurus hunt by ambushing prey with a bite to the neck and holding on with the aid of their four fingered arms until the prey suffocates. The build of Ceratosaurus is rather powerful and stocky but they still can move fairly fast, nearing the typical Allosaurus' speed. Ceratosaurus have escaped only twice and ate the watch dogs but ignored the rangers, only becoming violent when tranquilized. Each time it was a mated pair. Ceratosaurus may form impromptu packs to hunt animals in the size range of Dacentrurus but normally they hunt animals like Kentrosaurus and do it solitary. They hunt in the afternoon when most other predators and herbivores are getting tired. However they frequently have their territories stolen by larger predators like Torvosaurus and Allosaurus amplexus, both of which they would normally fight but due to their somewhat small and naturally slow breeding population they very seldom take the risk of fighting a larger predator. Due to their unique look and being a classic dinosaur, Ceratosaurus will be part of the theropod display in the new park where it will have a large open enclosure and a fertile male and female will be displayed and will have enough room to raise offspring. InGen File: Cristatusaurus [img]http://th09.deviantart.net/fs71/PRE/f/2011/062/7/8/suchomimus_tenerensis_by_elperdido1965-d3atbay.jpg[/img] Code Name: Emperor Height: 16 feet Length: 36 feet Weight: 4 tons Speed: 25 mph Diet: Carnivore, piscivore Weapons: Claws, bite, size Description: Cristatusaurus is one of the most unique spinosaurs, and perhaps dinosaurs, created by InGen. It measures between Suchosaurus and Suchomimus in size at about 36 feet long, making it the fifth largest spinosaur created behind S. aegyptiacus, S. maroccanus, Oxalaia and Suchomimus. Unlike the others, it lives in the higher altitudes and lacks scutes, having penguin-like feathers instead, their teeth curve slightly and have lightly serrated edges, they have a salt grand below their eye and a groove, they lack a crest of any kind, their heads are not scaly nor feathered, but rather exposer bone covered in a thin but tough sheath like that of a bird and they also lack a notable ridge on their back. They don't primarily prey on fish but rather turtles and eels. They got their code name from their emperor penguin-like appearance, having a black body with a white underbelly, an orange neck and lower jaw and yellow stripes on its upper snout which is otherwise black. There is no notable notable sexual dimorphism, though sometimes males have red makings behind their eyes. Because of their unique appearance they are going to have a middle level attraction, much like most other spinosaurs, bar Spinosaurus, which is a major star attraction. Cristatusaurus will likely be displayed with Suchomimus and Oxalaia. Fight! September 10th, 2013 A Cristatusaurus walks a creek. Bones of a Ticinosuchus, Estemmenosuchus, Herrerasaurus and an a Triceratops line the banks, the ceratopsian lying where the creek runs into a river. The Cristatusaurus keeps walking, eventually emerging in a place where the river passes down a slope. The spinosaur gets in the river, swimming down the rapids and walking to the bank farther down. He sees the bones of an Allosaurus, but thinks nothing of it. Continuing his walk, he comes into a forest. The wooded area grows denser and denser, eventually being almost completely green. Jade colored light filters through the leaves in the morning sun. Vines wrap the trees and Balaur grip the high up vines with their multi-clawed feet, watching the intruder. With nothing more than a glance, the Cristatusaurus looks at an unguarded nest instead, barely hidden in the forest. Being an opportunistic animal, he gulps down several eggs, when suddenly a baby hatches. He stares at the tiny animal, watching the horned theropod struggle to stand up. With an amused growl, he leans down and nudges it, watching it fall over. He gets ready to eat it when suddenly he hears steps coming from behind him. Fearing that it's his mother, he bites the one foot dinosaur by the tail and carries the squealing baby away, but literally runs right into another thing worse than its mother: its father. The Ceratosaurus falls over but stands up quickly. The Cristatusaurus continues on with a whimper, signaling that he didn't mean to knock over the Ceratosaurus. The Ceratosaurus attacks the Cristatusaurus, sinking his teeth into the spinosaur's tail. The Cristatusaurus turns in confusion and pain, looking at the Ceratosaurus in confusion. He isn't mad that the spinosaur had knocked him down, but rather that the Cristatusaurus has his baby. It still has the distinct smell of his mate's nest. The Cristatusaurus doesn't catch on, at least not until the Ceratosaurus father attacks. He lunges forward and bites the Cristatusaurus on the face, shearing off his baby's tail but successfully injuring the Cristatusaurus. Though still confused, the Cristatusaurus' confusion is overshadowed by anger. He slashes the seething Ceratosaurus on the neck, but his claws only scrape against the closely knit osteoderms of the Ceratosaurus until the bottom, his thumb claw clipping the Ceratosaurus' small dewlap. The Ceratosaurus still holds on, wrenching the feathered theropod to the side and shaking his head. The spinosaur's head is torn open and heavily bleeding, but the Cristatusaurus still continues on. Backing away after he escapes, He grabs the Ceratosaurus, their chests together, then stabs his claws into the horned theropod's side, biting its arm. The Ceratosaurus attacks as well, vying for a shoulder bite instead of a bite to the arm. The Cristatusaurus rakes its claws around the Ceratosaurus' ribs while the Ceratosaurus carves out an immense chunk of meat from the spinosaur's shoulder. Like a hot knife through butter, the Ceratosaurus' teeth slice through the flesh. The Cristatusaurus experiences only moderate pain from the Ceratosaurus' teeth and a sting from the bacteria filled saliva. At least until the piece falls off. The Cristatusaurus roars in pain but still hangs on to the Ceratosaurus. The long toothed Ceratosaurus shakes free but receives a smack to the face, knocking some of his teeth out. The spinosaur bites the Ceratosaurus' neck and tries to twist it put the stocky and muscular Ceratosaurus, although smaller, powers out of the twisting motion. His muscles ripple as he rushes forward, shoving the spinosaur against a tree. The Cristatusaurus uses his size to gain a power edge, throwing the Ceratosaurus back. The vicious and increasingly enraged father Ceratosaurus rolls across the ground, nearly falling in a chasm. A distance down, he sees a series of vines filling the now empty space, formally home to many pterosaurs. He tries to stand but the Cristatusaurus has him pinned down with his foot. Angry, he takes his longest claw to the Ceratosaurus' neck, scraping off some of the skin where the osteoderms are to make this attack count, preferably as the last. The Ceratosaurus thrashes, pulling the Cristatusaurus off balance. He kicks the Cristatusaurus and it falls on top of him, overlooking the seemingly endless porential fall. It tries to scramble back, but the Ceratosaurus kicks him away, his torso and head now dangling over the edge. His arms flail around, searching for a grip that isn't there. With one final kick, the Ceratosaurus sends the Cristatusaurus down the cliff. The Cristatusaurus' claws scrape the rocky surface, wearing them down severely before he hits a ledge and stands on it awkwardly. Unfortunately, it crumbles under his weight and he flies down the chasm, entangling himself in the vines. He roars as he tries to free himself, kicking off of a wall and swinging to and fro. The spinosaur looks at the skeletons of previous fallen dinosaurs entangled above and below him. With a whimper, he knows his fate is sealed. He lies still and limp as the Ceratosaurus watches. WINNER: CERATOSAURUS [img]http://fc02.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2012/339/3/7/ceratosaurus_by_spikeheila-d5n6xf3.jpg[/img] While this was a very hard match to call, the fan-favorite and, while not more armed, but better armed, Ceratosaurus pulls it off by an inch, quite literally. Bonus story: Rexy's Rampage Suddenly, a quick bit of pain hits the Ceratosaurus' neck and he turns, seeing a woman holding his babies, his mate bound and muzzled on the ground, blackness and blurry silhouettes before he falls. He is muzzled and bound too as the chief Jurassic Park dinosaur control officer, James Wolfley, calls for the helicopter. A younger boy named Edward Morrison, his assistant, looks at the Ceratosaurus. "Beautiful, isn't it?", Morrison says in awe. "Ha", Wolfley laughs humorlessly, "It's the ugliest thing I've seen in weeks. Even without all the scars, gashes, exposed bones, creepy eyes and big teeth, Ceratosaurus are monstrosities." says Wolfley. "Not appearance wise, sir. Just... Beautiful..." "If you mean captivating, yes. Attractive physically? Hell no." "Code 7! Vampire!" Yells one team member. In a matter of seconds, Wolfley whips out his tranquilizer gun and darts the Balaur, code name vampire, that escaped its crate. "I think that's the last of 'em. Let's head back to the park and put these ones in the enclosures." says Morrison. A helicopter lowers a cable supported stretcher down to the entangled Cristatusaurus as a worker tranquilizes it and cuts it free, dropping it onto the gurney below it. He straps it down and flies it away as Morrison watches. "Okay, so I was wrong. That was the last." He says. They prepare to take the last of the dinosaurs to the park as the sun reaches its peak in the sky. As the final dinosaurs are loaded in to the choppers, the ground shakes. Everyone stands still, hearing the sound and feeling it. "Oh sh-" "Shhhh", Wolfley interrupts Morrison. "Calling sniper chopper 267a, it's the big bi-" A recognizable and famous roar cuts him off. A grin crosses his face as the Tyrannosaurus rex, the oldest and first created, Rexy, comes into view. At 50 years old, she measures 48 feet long and weighs 9.5 tons. It was never determined if she was naturally freakishly big, measuring 40 feet at age 14 and 46 feet at age 30, or if she just grew huge due to a DNA mutation caused by InGen. She's extremely old, can't hear well, she has cataracts, is slow and primarily a scavenger, but she's still a big beast. With an earsplitting roar, she opens her mouth and tries to eat the group of people nearest to her. They scatter as she runs at them and many of them jump on the departing helicopters, only a few members of the team staying. Several Ceratosaurus tranquilizers hit her from the helicopter, but she easily shrugs off the tiny darts. Wolfley pulls out his Jurassic Park issue "Rex Rifle" for the largest freak carnivores and asks Morrison for his backpack. Barely able to move in terror-induced paralysis, he manages to drop it. Wolfley grabs the dart box with his special darts and climbs a tree. The Tyrannosaurus pushes down a towering Wollemia. The people who climbed it make a desperate leap towards another, many people failing and hitting the ground. Rexy smashes a few with her foot before picking up an obese man in her jaws. She shakes him side to side before gulping him down. By then, several team members have crawled into the wreckage of a food trailer. Rexy tries to shove her head in if, but fails as she is too big. The crew inside is relieved when she leaves, but stricken with horror once again when her teeth pierce the trailer and she kicks it over. Placing her foot over the hiding prey, she starts to press down and they scream. Suddenly, a dart hits her in the thigh. She whips around with a roar, looking at the twelve inch needle jammed into her leg. She tries to bite it and pull it out, but she might as well be chasing her tail. Another hits her in the shoulder, but she sees the source this time: James Wolfley. With that infamous roar, she charges the tree they are in and rams it. It teeters and Morrison cries, babbling about not wanting to die. Wolfley throws a branch at Rexy and it hits her in the head. With a snort, she continues to shove the tree. With a loud crack, the gigantic tree falls, wiping out the helicopters carrying Rexy's containment unit that was lowering down. The sniper helicopter, however, is still behind her. The 267a team hit her with a barrage of darts and she stumbles. Drool falls from her mouth as she shakes her enormous and groggy head. A rescue chopper swoops down to scoop up the team in the trailer, but before it can, Rexy dashes for it. She bites its tail and it falls down, its blades spinning. She wisely backs away as she looks at her missing arm, her vision blurry. The team had come out to be rescued but half of the ten ended up being mulched by the blades. Morrison vomits from the fallen tree and passes out, being even more immobile now than he was before with broken legs after the fall. Wolfley jumped to another tree and sees Rexy approaching his limp body. Wolfley desperately shoots her eye and she stops with a howl of pain. Relieved, he shoots her sensitive nose and once again she yelps loudly. Suddenly, with one final dart strike, she falls, her multiton head crushing the helicopter pieces. As a calm falls over the forest, Wolfley surveys the damage. At least twenty people dead, five helicopters destroyed, Morrison wounded badly and out of ammo. Better than Wolfley thought they'd do. A helicopter team of five with five guard choppers load Rexy up and take her to her new paddock. She looks at her surroundings with her cloudy eyes, her vision much clearer than usual after the surgery she was asleep through, the darts gone and a large multilayered plexiglass wall in front of her enclosure. She pushes against it but can't get out. Confused and a little frightened, the nearly 50 foot dinosaur walks around, looking at her surroundings. A waterfall, a pool, a "mountain" built by InGen in the back, a mud hole to roll in, ferns, trees, a baobab with a cave carved into it, meat lying on the ground... Meat lying on the ground! Rexy eats it tentatively and looks around every now and then. After finishing, she looks at the dark sky. The stars spread across it and she meanders around more. She looks through the glass again and sees a Tarbosaurus on the other side. The two tyrants look at each other through a long but not tall hole in the glass, the Tarbosaurus in awe of her neighbor's size. A Zhuchengtyrannus that shares the habitat with Tarbosaurus is awaken by his friend's immense size. The female Bistahieversor in their habitat, still a juvenile, looks at the giant next to them. Not afraid, she climbs the Tarbosaurus' back and steps on his head, putting her head through the hole in the glass and smelling Rexy. Having been hear longer, she knows that Rexy was recently captured, still smelling of the wild. Rexy nudges her nose and the two newfound friends stare at each other warmly. Suddenly, Rexy hears the voices from her subconscious more clearly behind her. She turns away from her neighbors and looks at the people outside, walking over to them. An old man and some people in suits stand there. The old man... She knows him. Mr. Hammond smiles as Rexy turns her head, the people behind him gaping at her size before signing some papers. She growls happily as she looks at the old man and the familiar writing on the banner above her: Jurassic Park Carnivore Block Rexy is home. Questions? Comments? Suggestions? Anything at all? Depending on how this story is received, I may start a series on DeviantART, but I don't know. It will be JP fanfiction, including the little world I have come to imagine as an alternate timeline to the Jurassic World timeline, splitting at beginning, really, with many dinosaurs being sequenced differently from better DNA, the park shutting down but InGen still operating secretly, the park restarting in 2013 and reopening in 2015 after the last of the dinosaurs were rounded up from 2011-2013.

Great fight, I would have commented sooner but I couldn't get on. It was a bit hard to follow, but the story was great. I fully support you with this.

Great fight. Go Ceratosaurus! I like the part with Rexy a lot.
