Welcome, ladies and gentleman, to my daily DinoFight. I always appreciate my loyal readers, but for those of you who are new, every day I pit two of the most formidable dinosaurs to ever exist against one another in a fight to the death (most of the time). Medium division, round 2, fight 20: Yutyrannus vs Becklespinax *A few things: First, I am sorry that I posted this a dat late, but I was too tired to finish it when I should have and my son required my attention most of today because his mom was at her sister's house. Second, I will be trying out a new file format, an idea Deltadromeus gave me, called "Time Traveler's Journal". It will be very similar to InGen Files, with me hypothetically observing prehistoric animals for an extended period of time and visually describing them as a scientist. The fights will take place in random locations that one of the contestants inhabit or in the JP universe depending on your thought. Leave a comment to let me know if you like TTJ or InGen Files and also let me know if you want the fights to take place on Isla Sorna & Nublar or if you want them to take place in random locations. Third, I'm also apologizing for the low quality profiles ahead of time. It's a new format, and while similar to the old one, I also lack knowledge on both Yutyrannus and Becklespinax. Not much had been published on the new feathered tyrant and Becklespinax has a fuzzy history, being classified as a megalosaur, an allosaur, a carcharodontosaur, a species of Altispinax, a species of Acrocanthosaurus, a species of Megalosaurus, uncertainly sized, a nomen dubium several times and just forgotten and overall uncertain. Name: Yutyrannus Height: 13 feet Length: 30 feet Weight: 3 tons Speed: ~30 mph Diet: Carnivore Description: Yutyrannus is an Asian tyrannosaur that lives in caves in the mountainous regions of China. They live and hunt in families of up to five members and they eat what they can, be it carrion, rats, small dinosaurs, large dinosaurs or eggs. Juveniles are covered in pure white downy feathers from snout to tail, including their legs, allowing them to blend in with the snowy mountains they live in. Females are also all white or pale grey but have black feet, black arms, a black nose and black eye crests. Males are more colorful, having white or light grey feathers, a grey or black snout, black legs and hands and small l light blue tipped crests to impress females. Their three fingered arms are a primitive features for a tyrannosaur but it serves then well, their powerful arms holding their prey in place while they bite or with their powerful jaws. Interestingly, they enjoy swimming and cleaning themselves in the springs of the mountains, likely to keep blood and dirt from giving away their hiding positions when hunting. Pterosaurs are their only major threat, preying on juveniles and frequently escaping before the parents can attack. Yutyrannus, despite their large size, can run very fast with their long and powerful legs, capable of running over 25 miles per hour. Females can get around 30 feet in length or more, stand 13 feet tall and weigh around 3 tons in weight while males are slightly smaller. Name: Becklespinax Height: 13 feet Length: 33 feet Weight: 3.25 tons Speed: 30 mph Diet: Carnivore Description: Becklespinax is an allosaur(?) that lives in early cretaceous England, where they prowl forests as sauropod hunters. The males are somewhat badly camouflaged as adults, being white with blue stripes on their faces and brown mottling on the front of their body, while young and females easily blend in with the forest, being brown and green. They really don't require camouflage to hunt, easily being able to catch and outmaneuver even the fastest sauropods, though juveniles require camouflage to stay hidden from predators. Becklespinax are primarily solitary hunters though females may teach their young how to hunt. Their powerful bites are capable of killing prey quickly, being aided by the muscular ridge they possess that runs from their head to their tail, being the tallest over the hips. The teeth of Becklespinax are curved, serrated, long and fairly thick, capable of slicing and penetrating even the toughest sauropod skin, with many sauropods possessing proto armor in the form of thick skin and knobby bone-like structures. Males are highly aggressive and territorial, sometimes owning territory that stretches for miles. They allow visitors only during mating season when they court females and males will fight to the death over mating rights. Their mating dances are elaborate, consisting of head bobbing, jumping, calling out in a raspy hiss, "singing" in a series of whistle-like chirps and showing off strength by pushing over trees in a rhythmic fashion. Strangely, males will eat their own young after fighting so hard to reproduce so females have to chase them away and usually take their territory following mating. Like many dinosaurs, the eggs are laid in rotten logs or in mother-built nests and watched carefully for months while the mother feeds the young food she stockpiled. No notable size difference between males and females is present. FIGHT! China A Yutyrannus female walks along the mountainous regions with nesting material in her widely opened mouth as snow whips around in the wind, making visibility poor. She squints against the snow hitting her face and walks forwards a distance, trying to find a cave to lie down in. After a while of searching she finds one and hastily drops the huge amount of branches she was carrying in the middle of the cave, organizing them carefully into a nest. A Becklespinax is unusually far from home, walking the icy ridges of china in the winter. His shaggy black winter coat is not thick enough to block the stinging winter air from hitting him and his nostrils burn from the stinging air. His sharp eyes make out a shape ahead of him, and it looks like a cave. He eagerly heads forwards and lies down in the cave before inhaling and noticing something isn't right. He turns to his side to see a surprised female Yutyrannus lying a distance aways. Having already become territorial over his temporary home, the Becklespinax growls and stands, threatening the Yutyrannus. Not wanting to go back out in the increasingly heavy snowfall she stood up as well, prepared to defend the spot. With a roar the Becklespinax charged across the cave and slammed his head into her chest, pushing her back. Her claws skittered on the cave floor as she tried to get a foothold but she was slammed against the cave wall. Roaring in anger she bit down on the attacker's back ridge, breaking the spines that supported it. The weaker Yutyrannus tries to push back but her body is pinned against the wall while she roars and digs her claws into his face. Still using his power as an advantage, the Bexklespinax tries hard to crush her with his head, ignoring the intense pain of her bite and claws raking his face. Successfully breaking a couple ribs, the Becklespinax takes a break for a moment but the Yutyrannus used her superior agility to run to his side and take a bite before jumping back, avoiding his charge and hip bumping him. Unstable when in mid-sprint the Becklespinax falls to the ground. The Yutyrannus runs to him before he can get up and tears at his side with her powerful jaws. He gets a kick in to her neck and she chokes, giving him a chance to stand. Dashing at top speed the Becklespinax headbutts the Yutyrannus into the three foot deep snow. Angrily he charges at her and tears at her arm, dislocating it and mangling her forearm. With a high pitched squeal of pain the Yutyrannus rakes her claws under his jaw, spilling his blood onto her white winter coat, staining it dark red. Choking a little, the Becklespinax lets the blood drain out of his mouth so he doesn't drown in it, providing the Yutyrannus with an opportunity to stand. As she does he shakes the last bit of blood from his face. The Yutyrannus sprints towards him and bumps his chest with her own, knocking him off balance. The stumbling Becklespinax skitters on to a big pond, frozen deep in the harsh winter cold. His feet can't grip the surface well and he clumsily slides around. Foolishly, the Yutyrannus runs towards him. Their combined weight on one spot starts to crack the ice, and when she pushes him over, the frozen pond surface splits open. The two dinosaurs are sent into the frigid waters that are up to their chests. With tightened lungs they gasp for air frantically, their skin stinging from the cold under their winter coats. The Yutyrannus is quicker to adjust and bites down on the Becklespinax's face. His blood clouds the water. Not one to give up easily, the Becklespinax takes a breath and dives, coming from beneath the Yutyrannus and tearing her side open. With a hiss she kicks him in his side and her claws flay open his flesh. Already making her way towards land through the breaking ice, the Yutyrannus nearly evades the Becklespinax. Nearly. The angry Becklespinax roars and charges as fast as he can, though very slow in the water. He attacks, digging his hook-like claws into the tyrannosaur's flesh and biting her skull. His teeth gouge out one of her eyes and she lets out a shriek of pain as it is pulled from its socket. When the Becklespinax stands tall with her eye stuck on his tooth she swims at him with her jaws open. With surprising speed she bites his face from below, pulls it down, bites his upper face and blinds him completely. Blood drains out of him via his side, and already dizzy he easily falls with a headbutt. The dazed and blinded Becklespinax falls back, almost completely submerged. The Yutyrannus comes at him but he hears her coming. When she charges him he moves and bites her thigh, tearing out a piece of fat, meat and mostly feathers. The Yutyrannus growls and turns, swimming under him. She bites his side and the two struggle, kicking and clawing each other. Finally, the Becklespinax frees himself and gets on the ice without it breaking, slowly and awkwardly trying to get to land. The Yutyrannus is able to move more quickly, her feet more suited for walking on ice. The two are covered in rapidly freezing blood and ice. The Yutyrannus circles around to be in front of him and comes at him quickly, positioned below his raised chin. Her powerful mouth slams shut on his throat and he lets out a choked roar. She twists to the side and his neck snaps. The Becklespinax falls, paralyzed, on the ground as the half blind Yutyrannus roars through the blizzard and walks to the edge of the pond. She stomps in a piece and cleans herself off in it, the increasingly frosty air quickly freezing her wounds shut. Though paralyzed, the Becklespinax is alive. He is buried alive in snow while he freezes to death on the pond, but he can't feel a thing, his spinal cord severed in two places. WINNER: YUTYRANNUS Though her adversary was slightly larger, she was more at home, was faster and more agile and had the deadlier bite, plus a heavier winter coat to lessen bite damage from the Becklespinax's jaws. Very close fight, though. Maybe 55-45 in favor of Yutyrannus, with the home advantage accounting for an additional five percent, so 60-40.

Good fight as usual. The TTF was interesting. What's the next fight?

Nice fight. I was rooting for Yutyrannus and the environment was certainly important to this fight. The TTF was alright. Not sure if it's better than the iNGEN files, but it was alright.

I really liked the fight, great job doing it in a cave, I think. It was a bit hard to follow for a bit, but it was still a great fight. I really liked the ttj, do I like it better than ingen files, its hard to say. Both are really good. Random places and jurassic park would be great. How about you have one fight on jurassic park and one fight elsewhere. With ingen files on jp, and ttj on the other places, that way well get a bit of both of your great fights.

Oh, and I'm rooting for Yangchuanosaurus. I really thnk it is an even fight though. Unless you are using the yang from before, then it is toast.

Good idea Deltadromeus. Sorry if it was hard to follow, I was really tired when I wrote it. @Makaveli actually it's not Yutyrannus. Albertosaurus, I think, but it really reminded me of Yutyrannus so I used it.

Well, it was fuzzy. All tyrannosaurs that are fuzzy is automatically Yutyrannus.

I did a little research on Becklespinax and found something interesting. Many size estimates put it at only 15-20 ft long and .5-1 ton. The largest I found was about 26 ft long and 1.5-2.5 tons or so. Not criticizing you DinoFights, just pointing it out. When you were taking suggestions for the fights, I can't believe I forgot to suggest Concavenator! 26 ft long and 2 tons or so, not a bad size and truly unique. Yeah, I based my estimates from Altispinax's hypothetical size, which I consider it synonymous with.

Altispinax should have been its name instead of Becklespinax. Becklespinax just sounds ridiculous :D I have no idea why a scientist would name it that. Sort of like pantydraco or dracorex hogwartsia
