1) there is a text suggesting that weyland knew tyrell, 2) vickers was strong enough to manhandle david,3) weyland clearly favours david over vickers (largely due to davids life span where as a replicant has a short life span?)4) ridley did suggest there were 2 "robots" onboard in an interview :)

Yes, I remember that interview. I think his words were "Possibly two robots." I've spent a lot of time thinking about that. If it were the case I can't really see who else could be the second robot! When I first saw Prometheus I thought it could be Ford, but as the story unfolded I concluded that she shows far to much emotion to be robotic. She was visibly & vocally frightened by the head explosion, the Hammerpede's jack-in-the-box exit via Millburn & was trembling, yet frozen in fear at the sight of 'Bob'

i can see vickers as a female Roy . she can have emotions like fear and anger but based on the characters in bladerunner she may not feel compassion . imagine if she only had 4 years to live she would want her father to die before her. she would also have a stronger fear of death . she has a lot of the characteristics from the replicants in blade runner

"..i can see vickers as a female Roy.." Vickers is a great candidate for a robot. The problem I have with this thought is the ending of our movie. Vickers robotic nature was truly present then the ending would have been logical and not as stressful as presented. I am thnking about Roy and even Spock as they faced their demise.. It has been several months since I have seen the entirely of our movie but the character that could be robotic in nature and faced his ending in a 'robotic' was Janek. It was almost to logical for him to face self destruction to wipe out the Juggernaut. His Implementation of the procedures to crash in to the Engineers ship seemed quite sterile and sort of by the numbers.

Vickers is a replicant! Another hint is her conversation with Weyland where Weyland is suprised she came on the mission. Vickers is alive on earth and is Mother! also hinted at in the film.

More Hints: Vickers has no Cryo-sickness in fact she is able to do wall pushups- humans get cryo-sickness. She man handles David. The Surgery Chamber in her escape pod is not for her

The push ups were a clue. Vickers =replicant

She isn't a robot, Lindelof confirms it in one of his interviews. Also, the whole Tyrell/Weyland thing was made up for a laugh by a guy named Charles de Lauzirika. Here is a direct quote from Charles de Lauzirika from his Blastr interview. He apparently got the idea from fans online trying to connect the dots between the two acclaimed sci-fi universes, and thought he would have a little fun with it. "As a Blade Runner fan, and because there's been so much talk before this even occurred with people on the Internet speculating that maybe Alien and Blade Runner and Prometheus could all exist in the same universe, it was just more of a wink at that. Absolutely nothing to be taken seriously. I mean, I sent it to Ridley and he had no comment. [Laughs] So, it's just icing on top of icing. It's not the cake. It's a fun, little side thing that's very superficial. And, by the way, it in no way officially establishes that it's Blade Runner because, if a lawyer were to comb through that, there's no reference to Tyrell or anything in Blade Runner. It's just a very lightly intentioned joke." ~Charles de Lauzirika

I didnt catch on to it because its a dumb idea to put them together. I think its hilarious when people think that Tyrell and Weyland have a connection and in the same universe. It makes no sense but some people are new so here it is. Ridley did that the same way a comic-book creator will create a rivalry between superheroes. Stan Lee said it himself that this was to create thinking and nerd debates not necessarily a real head to head who would win type of thing. Vickers is not a robot she has a vaj not a metal plate. Its all one big BLADE RUNNER JOKE nothing more. Too many people taking things literally. If you think about it having Tyrell and Weyland working together is stupid and pathetic. It would be like AVP all over again. How do we know that "only Vickers" had no cryo-sickness?.....They only showed Shaw getting sick not Holloway.

The Anunnaki were on the earth in those days--and also afterward--when the sons of God went to the daughters of humans and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, mighty men of high reno

I don't think that vickers is a robot. The push up scene was just to show how determined and focused she was. Her pushing david against the wall wasn't so much about her being strong. It was more about david not being physically an opposing force. The bladerunner universe and the alien universe being connected probably isnt a good idea anyway. kinda like the predator and alien universes being connected, it seems to ruin both.
"how do you feel?"-" great, next stupid question"

I too found it curious that Vickers was able to threaten David like she did, because her words were like he should know that she could beat the heck out of him, and it's not likely she could if he is much stronger than an average man as most androids are (particularly the android in Alien as an example). David might not be physically strong, however, only very coordinated and intelligent. He doesn't even put up a fight against the engineer after all, though it might not have made a difference then.

Hi theres a few references to vickers being a robot . i never suggested she was a robot :) I doubly theres any close friends of scott on here. its a fair theory for someone who made both blade runner and prometheus to throw a few red herrings in there. i think its a reasonble idea that she may be a replicant .

@annunaki Halloway is sick, he handles it better than Shaw and is trying to help her through it by telling her to breath/relax. As far as cryo sickness goes it is in every Alien Film and is also referenced in Prometheus. @Svanya That quote seems to be addressing the internet featurette of Weyland: how Lindlelof "winks" at the audience "having fun" with the ambiquity of Alien /Blade Runner co existing in a Universe. In my opinion that quote doesn't confirm or deny..... it leaves the door open while the Writer enjoys a bit of personal satisfaction. if it pleases the Writer as a fan and possibly Ridley (according to the article his response was nothing- really how cryptic, which doesn't make sense anyway Lindelof reaches out to Ridley and says I have this idea to connect Alien and Blade Runner and his response is no comment- or Lindelof cannot comment on the rest of that Convo) In addition Lindelof says "if it is in the film it is canon" Which was the point of this discussion none of us pointed out the Weyland Featurette, We were purley discussing the Prometheus Film and the multiple inconsitencies regarding Vickers in the Film & the interview with Ridley that suggests 2 synthetics. It is entitled circa Tyrell but i belive that was so the thread starter differentiated the 2 synthetics. he wasn't actually saying Vickers is a Tyrell Replicant via Blade Runner instead he was saying circa, as in a replicant type synthetic invented by Weylanr Corp. There is a possibility Vickers is replicant, a Blade Runner-esqe synthetic as opposed to David 8 android. The Film is canon and nothing suggests Vickers is a human being. Thanks Scifiers!
nothing suggests Vickers is a human being
By nothing, you mean everything? Which includes showing much more emotion than David in certain scenes and having sex with Janek?
Vickers is alive on earth and is Mother! also hinted at in the film.
Really? When? Enlighten us.
I doubly theres any close friends of scott on here. its a fair theory for someone who made both blade runner and prometheus to throw a few red herrings in there. i think its a reasonble idea that she may be a replicant .
Define reasonable, please. The way I see it, there is nothing reasonable about such hypothesis. It's just a confused fan's wish.

@ Cremildo- Replicants are Not androids, replicants have sex, replicants feel emotion. Have you seen Blade Runner? David 8 android calls Vickers "Mum" and the use of FATHER in the Vickers WEYLAND draws on the Audiences memory of MUTHR. The conversation between Weyland and Vickers (better in deleted scenes) Clearly shows that Weyalnd did not expect Vickers to be present and expected her to remain on Earth. Instead Vickers sent a replicant. In a Scott interview he said it- Not me possibly two synthetics, ahh that makes it reasonable to me. If not Vickers who else, is SCott referring to?

Make a list of what suggests she is Human? Make another list of what suggests she is replicant?

@Kaiju Blue; I am pretty sure David calls Vickers "Ma'am", but it just sounds like Mum/Mom because of his accent. He said "Yes Ma'am" to her and uses that term which usually is one of respect to kind of diss her, he is being super passive-aggressive in that scene imo.

Necronom 4

MemberNeomorphJul-03-2013 5:06 PM
"Ma'am" is a madam but in a "You must obey me" sense. Police officers (here in old Blitey) call their female superiors Ma'am. Mum is the woman who gave birth to you. Or as I like to call her, that woman called Anita who lies alot. lol

The poster was good though!

Vickers is not a robot because Demon Lindelof stated clearly that she isn't. But he didn't say anything about her not being a replicant/clone.

These easter eggs are just little nods from directors or writers done out of love for a series, "inside Jokes" if you will. It's not to be taken seriously. It's done all the time in movies and video games. For instance, the TV shows "Firefly" and "Angel" both have references to Weyland industries in them. Sure you could argue Whedon did direct an Alien movie, but does that make it canon, imo it does not.

I'm pretty sure that on the Lindelof/Spaights commentary, on PROMETHEUS, Lindelof states that Vickers is NOT a robot. There is also this: Look here, no lube required

@Necronom 4; Yeah, I mentioned earlier Lindelof says she isn't a robot as well. I know that interview was on this site, but I can't find it. I wanted to link it. Thanks for that link Necronom, Ridley says there are no hidden robots in the movie. Later, Ridley says of David... "They said, let's hide the fact he's a robot, and I said no. I've done replicants, there's been a trillion robots, let's just make him a company employee who happens to be a goddamn robot." There's no hidden robots in this film.~ Ridley Scott

I never said he was a replicant or anything to deflect the theory towards him instead. What I said was, Holloway wasn't shown being sick thats all I said nothing more. Wouldnt you suspect that maybe not everyone can get quite a severe case of cryo-sickness like Shaw did. Vickers is tough she had no siblings (they dont mention family) and no brother other than an android adopted son of Weyland. Dont be a NERD KNOW IT ALL!

For me the one fact of the movie that suggest she might be a replicant was the Med-Pod being designed for a man. With all of her determination, drive, single focus on running the Wayland Corp. why risk such an incredible voyage with no security in surviving this voyage? From what I can tell she doesn't seem to be an all in player at this game with out a safety net. I can understand Weyland playing for ultimate stakes. But Vickers? With all the resources at her disposal?
