With a Prometheus 2 in the pipeline, it has become quickly apparent that a lot of old threads that were generated prior to the release of Prometheus, that up to now may have appeared redundant are going to resurface, simply on the basis that Prometheus left quite a lot of unanswered questions as well as generating quite a few new ones. The only info to go on is that some chick with a decapitated droid has decided to hotwire a Juggerenaut, and head off to a planet after things when tits up on an outpost thought to be the DNA Holy Grail of Mankind. Other than that I think Prometheus 2 / Paradise presents a blank page and is open to lots of new and old theories, all of which are going to now be equally valid. Anyone got anything to add to that?

Definitely agree the possibilities are wide open, which is very exciting. We've seen quite a bit of personal preference being put forth, since well before any real details of Prometheus were even available. Peeps hold their Alien universe very dear, and many were outraged when Prometheus took the customary ambiguity of the franchise and ran with it, rather than satisfy curiosity or vindicate interpretations. And of course there was the problem of no Morb. Now new hopes are being voiced ( I'm certainly doing it too) and I can't help but see we're setting ourselves up fora fresh batch of frustration when 2 is released. Actually there's no use wondering, it's probable. Queen? No Queen? SJ? No SJ? Oh, boy. I think having an open mind is key. When all is said and done I just hope for a similar tone to Prometheus, another piece of inexplicable pop art, with new ideas ( we're likely to see some ideas from fellow posters up on the screen, be ready for that) and some more really great space adventure, and with just that, the answers will come, though we'll have to work for many of them, just like now. Then again, they may strive to provide a more easily consumed story, given all that's gone before. Either way, it's no surprise the script has been through the wringer. I would have it no other way.

If the plot includes an encounter with 'higher beings' then I just want the higher beings to be FRIGHTENING. Up the ante with a truly alien world away from the human aspect at least for the most part. No bloody Queen. RIP 1986, come on.

in a few simple words...I think we have to expect the unexpected. No matter what we think now and how hard we try to create the sequel in our own minds, odds are pretty high that the actualy result of the movie will be different. so wonder and hope all you want because that's what the forum is pretty much for, but don't let your imagination or other people's ideas ruin the actual movie we receive on the screen

Hey Batch! For sure the fact that a sequel is now in progress has got us excited all over again. I feel Prometheus has exorcised many demons! I'm putting my faith in Ridley, to deliver us (even farther) from the Alien Franchise!! :-D I'm waiting for The Shock of The New!

The only problems I have with Prometheus is the squid and the deacon, they just don't cut it for me. I have accepted the hammerpede for what it is and they should have invested more time and effort in Fifield's mutation. The engineers are great! Although I would have liked it if they were a few feet taller! No more giant squids or any other ridiculous creatures in the sequel! Please!

The poster was good though!

By the time Prometheus 2 is near its release, you can be sure these forums will have a lot more traffic. As for redundant ideas, there are some search engines here to help people look at previous posts related to their topics. Some threads also pool ideas, though they don't by any means get come to with everyone's suggestions. Prometheus 2 has a writer now. There were will be some challenges to finish the project, and finally bring it to the screen, but a 2015 release is probably a good projection. Probably Summer 2015. One thing we really know about the story is Shaw won't decide easily to re-assemble David if she even does so at all, but she will face challenges all the time which he could be a great help to her with. The temptation to re-assemble him will be on her mind frequently, but she knows if re-assembled, he is "deadly", to quote Ridley Scott. Everything depends how it's written, of course. I would think that there will be a subplot of activities on LV 223, perhaps with a new ship from Earth which arrives in a few years to learn how the Prometheus' mission failed or where the crew ended up. This subplot gives Scott a chance to tell the story of the deacon which emerged from the engineer, where it goes, how big it gets, how does it survive, and what it meets. Shaw's trip is by no means predictable. How they will write it is totally a mystery to us, save a few clues. First, the engineers seem to put a lot of emphasis on music in their culture and technology, so I would expect this to be a recurring theme on their homeworld. They probably will use other flutes as keys to open locks, for example, and without the notes no one can do so. Second, there were signs in the first movie that a trap was set for the Prometheus on LV 223, that someone knew of its arrival well in advance. I think some unseen agency was behind this, and it may have had contact with David while everyone was asleep on the way there. David was seen aggressively taking actions to enter places, for instance, without discussion or indicating what he was thinking. He had his own motives, and he was aware of many things ahead of time. Ridley Scott said he wanted to make the world of "Paradise" something ominous, that had dangers and problems under a surface that suggests perfection. Based on this, I think we can expect the engineers' home world to have a thriving civilization and not be in ruins. It will appear inviting, perhaps super well ordered and comfortable. The challenges will be psychological in nature as Shaw tries to relate to the engineers.

The fact that the sequel is starting with a "blank page" is very exciting! I think I can speak for everybody when I say, we are each, already making Paradise up with our imaginations. We all have our own visions of a film that hasn't even got to the pre-production stage, just like we all did with Prometheus. This is usually a bad thing, because we are setting ourselves up to be disappointed with the finished film. I wouldn't put it past Ridley to create a Kingdom of Heaven in outerspace type of film. How many of us would be happy with that?

I'm pretty confident I'll be happy with whatever hits the screen, and definitely hope its far afield from whatever Im imagining. That said, parallels with our ideas are somewhat inevitable.

"No more giant squids or any other ridiculous creatures in the sequel! Please!" These sequence was the one that had most links to Alien and the Xeno.... I felt it was a plot device to show that via a series of events the Black Goo, can mutate a lifeform to take on Xeno Traits and as Shaws Fertilized Embryo is the most basic form of advanced life (nearly all life on Earth at the 1st stage are identical). This means the Goo has less DNA to mutate as its a blank canvas and thus you end up with a lifeform that carries more Xeno DNA than anything else... This Organism is the Squid Baby and we see this Organism has a lot in common and same purpose as the Face Hugger and ultimately shows us how the Xeno DNA in the Goo when it interacts with a advanced blank canvas (Embryo) it creates ultimately something very like a Face Huger that has the same end Game. That is to produce a Chest Buster.... Maybe it shows that the sequence of events ultimately re-created the Organism that the Engineers tried and failed to do on their own, and that it re created the Organism that the Xenos was latter created from....

As far as Paradise goes, well there is no end to the possibilities. I dont think they need to go and explore the Deacon on LV 223 as all we would get is a Prometheus meets Alien/Aliens movie... I think the intention of the Deacon was purely to confirm a connection between the Urns Substance and ultimately the Xeno.

@BigDave. I get what you're sayin buddy. I understand that the squid and the deacon were a plot device to show what the goo is capable of and how it may be used. I don't have a problem with that. I didn't explain clearly what i meant, my apologies! The problem is that the squid and the deacon were not aesthetically(sic) pleasing (to me anyway.) They were like creatures you would see in a low budget B movie. There were other design concepts for the deacon which were more Gigeresqe but not too Gigeresqe (if you get what i'm sayin) I'm sure that they would have worked better. Sorry for being all negative about it. It's just that, for me, the creatures don't cut it. They have lowered my opinion of an otherwise beautifully made film.

The poster was good though!

Yeah, the creatures are really lower quality than what you'd expect from a film on this level. I'd still like see what happens to them, though, in part to see how big the deacon grows and for the action that can come, but also I don't like to see things go to waste. Not only the creatures in this respect, but I mainly am thinking of the rest of LV 223. If it isn't explored more, it will go to waste essentially.

I'd say they could actually open the film with LV 223 again, and then jump to Shaw as "what everyone is waiting for". Even just 10 minutes of footage with the deacon and newcomers from Earth would be great.

@Necronom 4 I know what you mean, i think your saying that they lacked that Xeno Look of the Original Organism.. By that the Face Hugger had its Legs and was like a part Squid, Part Spider/Crab... The Xeno had more of a Skeletal look to it well Exo Skeletal, rather than more streamlined look of the Deacon which looked more like a Shark/Dolphin as far as its Skin, as opposed to a more Scorpion Look of the Original. I think this is just to show that the Trilobite is more mixture of more Human DNA than Xeno Face Hugger... Also the Trilobite design is more akin to the Orginal Idea that was part of Dan O'Bannans Script.. Star Beast of which Alien came from. The Face Hugger in this was descriped as being Octopus like, and the Mural on the Temple (yes originally Eggs was found in a Temple not on the Derelict) Featured a Organism that looked like Shaws Baby Cuddles all grown up, as opposed to the Deacon looking one in Prometheus... Also in O'Bannons script there was no Eggs as such, they was described as browny grey leathery Urns. Ultimately Prometheus was borrowing unused concepts from the Star Beast that never made it to Alien for Prometheus... Maybe ultimately the sequel will also go the route of Star Beast, as in the Temple Complex was a Pyramid the Space Jockeys found these Urns on and was in process of taking them to their ship before the Space Jockey got infected.... By that maybe they could go the route that the Original Xenomorph well the Organism that led to the Xeno, and indeed what ever they made from their experiments that led to the Urns. Was something they found and came across as opposed to created. I like this idea the most, that the Engineers are a race who optain and evolve techology and genetics to create life, and created many things and life on Earth via the Sacrificial Scene, this is how they seed their gene pool to create life in their image well that contains their DNA.. Ultimately we was a Experiment carried out by the Engineers using the Method we saw at the start of the movie... Now what if they found some lifeform that they never played any part in creating, they would be very intrigued in such a discovery, and maybe they would then dable with what they have found to see what they could create from it by experimenting on it the way they did with their own kind to create us. Ultimately creating the Xeno or the stuff in the Urns. I Believe that the Engineers lost the ability to reproduce, or they never had it as they was creations by some other race and thus just like David. Wanting to be more like their creators, or wanting to find ways of reproducing or created life themselves, they came across some Organism that is not part of the Creation Chain of the Engineers or their Creators. Intrigged that they fond something they never created or something never created by their own creators, and finding something that can reproduce or that once infects a Engineer allows a Engineer to be part of some reproductive system to create knew life in a different way to what they usually could. I think they would hold such a finding in some high regard and maybe they would Worship it and try to recreate or even experiment with this Organism... End result is either Xeno and stuff in the Urns.
