MemberOvomorphApr-11-2013 9:57 AMFor me, the original Alien xenomorph seemed to be made of PEWTER or some other sort of dull living metallic extrusion.
But then if that's so, so is the other stuff in the Alien World; the Egg+Facehugger, the Derelict, the Space Trucker chair and the Xeno/Deacon, the Engineer Cryo Tubes and Suits AND the Engineer Mothership made of the same stuff?
In fact, will the Paradise planet/ship be made of this stuff, too? A whole world made of UGM or Universal Giger Matter?
Wow!

MemberOvomorphApr-12-2013 4:02 PMIs not a fungal infection, is a helmet (highly modified homologs of the insect’s wings).
Returning to the thread I agree. I think that there must be some kind of symbiosis (at least ancestral) between technology and biomechanics creatures. Plus we know how are the engineers, so I hope to see something more Giger to the next.

MemberOvomorphApr-12-2013 4:04 PMCustodian- UGM. Brilliant! And I too think there could be some genetic connection, maybe their discovery of the Xeno propelled their science forward to such an extent that its DNA is visible in all their tech. That pressure suit the Engineer was wearing had a hybrid Xeno/ tech feel to it. Could be why they're so reverent of it. So yeah I don't think a UGM habitat is out of the question. Personally I'm hoping for it. Something vast and spooky with vertebrate architecture sheathed in oyster skin.

Back to the original Derelict...all though it looks dead, whats powering the Radio transmitter, and the egg storage space under the ship. It's already started the Terraforming process? Here Organic life is but subject to a higher order? Uhmmmm fungal infection indeed! the derelict is not weaponized it is the invasion.

MemberDeaconOct-21-2013 7:47 PMsome cool stuff there...
Back to the thread....
Well there has to be some kind of connection between the Xeno and the Derelict/Juggernaut Ships and Space Jockey/Engineers Tech.
The opening Sacrificial Scene the ship does not appear to have this Giger look to it, and the Engineers and Elders do not seem to have the pressure suit look, they appear in robes in which they have old fabric woven clothing beneath.
This scene looks like it was before the start of Evoltion on Earth where basic life started to become more complex.. i.e Eukaryote cells are formed.... this movie hints this occurred due to Engineers seeded DNA.
Some scientist believe that early basic life or Protozoa could had been evolved after a Metorite crashed to Earth passing on certain elements and Amino Acids to cause basic life to Evolve.
Thus the scene could had been from 2-3 Billion Years ago certainly over a Billion.....
Now the Engineers on LV 223 the Derelict, Juggernaut etc could have been Millions of years old Tech.
What i am saying is maybe the Elders/Engineers never possessed such Tech at the time of the Sacrefcial Scene!
Maybe the invented or obtained it some how, and there is the connection to the Xeno in that this Tech was either obtained or Engineered from Xenos or a Xeno Hive/Home world....
Or they had created or obtained this Tech some other way and later the Xeno was created via this Tech.
Either way i feel the Engineers Bio Tech and the Xenomorph or its Origins are connected..... How well maybe we will find out.

MemberOvomorphOct-22-2013 1:41 AMYes! this is the big deal with the original space jockey, is much more than the size, is on Giger's original concept as a biomechanical lifeform; a creature at the same time looks like a "machine, or even a part of everything, including the ship
(or nightmarish images of necronomicon).
Seriously, I hope that the creator of the Engineers is more abstract than they, or at least that there is a Giger Matter.
Anyway I like the idea of the elders as the creators of the Engineers, is very inspiring also.

MemberOvomorphDec-08-2013 7:36 AMMAN OF STEEL just used my UGM idea, well the idea that 'I thought' would really have been a better way to go with the whole Prometheus reboot.
The grey-chrome visual interface, the grey-chrome defense machines, the grey-chrome biochemistry.
There was no 'talking to it in PIE', there was no 'appealing to its ego', it was just a GREY MACHINE WORLD BULIDER at the genetic level. That's what was so 'scary' about Alien, is this 'metal' thing with 'acid' for blood that you 'just couldn't stop'.
And that could POTENTIALLY build a (spherical) world, Planet UGM.
MAN OF STEEL also did a cracking-er job of the proper HYPERSPACE effect that should have originated from the globe-hologram interface i.e. SpaceJockey Chair - not that horrible 'rocket take-off' scene at the end of Pro~

MemberOvomorphDec-09-2013 1:14 AMBig Dave,
I've consistently contented (to much consternation in these parts) that the Prometheus Juggernaut and the Alien Derelict are NOT THE SAME.
One, there's the size difference i.e. the Ganesha Alien Trucker is twenty-four feet tall, or would be if he wasn't BORN within his hyperspace chair. I suspected (all along) that Ganesha Driver was some sort of UGM-bio-hermit crab thing, genetically welded into his seat.
Two, there's the 'it looks like the Alien device but is smoother, less organic, more corporate' aspect. Like the Engineers did a BACK-ENGINEERING jobbie on the Derelict THEY found at some point during their history across the univers in 'teardrop' ships, and also the Giger-extruded environs of Pro~look 'more mass-manufactured' rather than UGM-'grown' environs of Alien.
Plus, this is all academic because Prometheus (looks like it) is an Alien franchise reboot.
