I have nothing but respect and admiration for what he has achieved in his life. But damn if I hear one more time about how horrible the British were on the set of Aliens I think I'm going to scream! I've heard him banging on about it on YouTube videos, the Quadrilogy making-ofs and the commentary for the movie itself. Thing is he says 'the British' (or 'the Briddish') not 'the British crew', just 'the British' as if we're all like that, tarring us all with the same brush. If I said 'the Americans are over-precious, slightly xenophobic and annoyingly pretentious' y'all would rightly be up in arms. But if I said 'some of the American cast and crew on Aliens were over-precious, slightly xenophobic and annoyingly pretentious' then a few might agree. Its just the way some of them talked like they were somehow saving the world by gracing the movie industry with their presence. No, you're just pretending to be someone else in front of a camera for a few hours. I'm all for artists (or is that 'artistes', Lance?) taking their work seriously but come on! David Giler totally got it though. You could see with his comments and wry smiles about the tea lady and the union regulations that he was really plugged in to the sense of not taking oneself too seriously that the Brits have. You were left with the impression that he used to hang out with us a bit more because we were more fun. Al Matthews too who had worked as a DJ in the UK prior to his work on Aliens and so probably knew more about the banter. Because its all affectionate at the end of the day. But if you're a bit uptight and nervous maybe its harder to see that.

I'm surprised at this, I always got the impression of Lance Henriksen being a very down-to-earth type of bloke. Probably a sore experience on set made him view the Brits in general with a frosty attitude for a short while. He doesn't seem the type to hold a grudge. I heard him say in an interview that he put a director (or other crewman) in his place for mouthing off at him sometime during the eighties.

I was fortunate to meet Lance Henriksen back in 2007 at a Sci-fi collectors fair in Manchester. He was a really nice bloke and had time for everyone. After the event, there were a number of complaints by those who attended the event, with regards to the attitude of some staff members and organisers. As a result the location for those collectors events has moved. I think it is the same with any industry in that you will always remember those bad experiences. I certainly would’nt say Lance is anti- British, and he certainly has the right like all of us the to voice his displeasure when things have been handled badly. For someone has laid back as he is, someone must have really pushed the wrong buttons.

@Get it out of me. I saw that too and thought wtf! I'm a Brit and i was quite offended by it! I used to like Lance but after them..xenophobic remarks... Although i'm all for forgiveness..maybe. i mean, he said it so seriously! you could tell that he meant it! It was a long time ago though and it was probably those pesky southerners who made him Angry lol :-) All is forgiven now Lance!

The poster was good though!

My visits to London in 1984 & 1988 were nothing short of a fantastic! We are the UK's bratty little brother!

Lance isn't the only one who had complaints about the British crew, everyone in the cast did. You can see the cast talk about it in the Documentary: Superior Firepower- The Making of Aliens. I have never heard Lance talk badly about the Brits outside of that interview. It's simply a matter of culture clash. When Ridley went to the US the same type complaints happened in regards to the American crew/studio.
