Outrunning a falling ship

I quite enjoyed this film...Until Shaw and Vickers tried to outrun the falling engineer ship. The ship is falling towards them, they can either try to run in a straight line following the longest section of the ship out, or they could run a few metres to their right. They opt to run forwards, presumably because they are complete idiots, when Shaw falls down, she rolls to the right and that roll is enough to get her out of the way. Vickers continues to run forwards and gets crushed by the ship. Running a few metres to her right just never entered her head. Ironically, the film is available in 3D, but the characters brains appear to only work in two dimentions. That part was so stupid, so ridiculous and so horrible that it ruined the entire film for me.

Not to mention Shaw findding a convient hole to hide in that a 400 billion ton spaceship didn't compact on impact.

Lol, yeah I agree, maybe it was a bit Thelma and Louise and Ridders just wanted to keep em together! The whole last half hour reminded me of the way I used to finish stories at school, ie rushed and not making any sense because I couldn't be bothered to go back over what I written before.

FREEZE!

That scene reminded me of a funny incident from my school days. I was walking down the main road outside of the school at lunch time when a tractor's wheel came off and started bounding down the road at an alarming speed. It was heading straight for a group of girls who Began to scream and run. Most of the girls ran to the side, but one panicked and tried to outrun the wheel (which must have been doing about 20mph). Needless to say, it caught up with her and creamed her. It was shocking to see but also hilarious (she survived). She was also blonde like Vickers. Go figure.

....and people are giving the Prometheus a 'fantastic' rating for nonsense like this? Its like opening the damn cargo doors for the Scottish Zombie to kill half the darn crew! pah...

in James Cameron's AVATAR there was a similarly-annoying 'running away from a falling towerblock demolished by thermite/thermate, tnt or 150 kt deep underground nuke' moment. :)
2013 sci-fi horror novels 'Custodian' and 'Tandem' available from Amazon, B&N, iTunes etc...

What was that Zombie about? I didn't get that at all. Also, Vickers and the captain character could have just been one person, they didn't need both. She could have then been a bit of an idiot at the start - protecting the ship by not letting infected back on etc, but then could have turned it around at the end by crashing into the engineer ship as it took off. Such a shame so little of it actually 'worked' and matched in with Alien. It's just weird when you feel like you could have made it much better yourself, when you know nothing about film scripting.

I'm surprised she didn't try spinning, that's a good trick!

I feel a quote from Kang provides the answer we must move forward, not backward, upward not forward, and always twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom

really people find that kind of things annoyng ?? every movie is filled with these moments but more important LIFE is filled with people not doing the smartest thing . Every day you see someone parking the car in a stupid way ... people not caring when they cross the road .... things falling because not properly handled ....guys crashing into shop glasses .... people panicking and doing the worst thing they could ...

True Frantz but we don't go to the cinemar to watch real life. Otherwise movies would be dull. We expect intelligent people to behave in intelligent ways

I actually thought Vickers was a good character who had the safety of the ship and crew in mind...! Shame she got squished in such a Monty Python moment!
