MemberOvomorphApr-10-2012 6:32 PMI think you've nailed it. What better explanation for Vicker's smug look when Peter Weyland says David is like a son, but a jealous daughter that gets no recognition. Excellent, my money is on it!

MemberOvomorphApr-10-2012 7:26 PMOr maybe she is slated to be the next CEO of Weyland Yutani, pending a successful outcome of this mission? That would be a pretty personal thing and explain why she is such a "suit" . Her career is at stake. I also think part of the mission is to revive Peter Weyland fronm the dead and keep him alive using the engineer's technology. I refer to the corporate timeline:
Top Company for Executive Women
NAFE (National Association for Female Executives) names Weyland Industries a Top 50 Company for Executive Women.
Synapse Reestablisher
Weyland Industries earns patent number 18,364,003 for Method and Apparatus for device able to temporarily restart brain activity of deceased individuals.

MemberOvomorphApr-10-2012 8:51 PMOne possibility I have been mulling over...
RS has teased that there are possibly 2 androids in the movie.
I think they are David (obviously) and Vickers.
David is version 7 (according to timeline).
I think Vickers is possibly early version 8. Maybe the next version has more biological integration to the point that she needed to go into hypersleep. Also because of this, she is more "mortal" (I am thinking about ties to Blade Runner replicants) with an expiration date?
It would explain her animosity towards David (and Weyland's open adoration of him).
Thoughts?

MemberOvomorphApr-10-2012 9:28 PMIt would actually make sense for someone of Weyland's wealth and ambition to place himself in stasis/hypersleep, until medical technology......or something else....made reviving and restoring him to health, feasible. Since he was clearly aware of, and funded the mission, it would also make sense if he paid the ultimate Promethian price. Perhaps that's him at the waterfall, gaining immortality, but at some terribly, horrific cost.

MemberOvomorphApr-10-2012 7:57 PMgdog: Exactly where does Peter Weyland say that David is like a son? (And Vickers has this "smug look".)
I must have missed that! Is it on a trailer somewhere, or part of the Weyland Industries web site?
