MemberOvomorphApr-10-2012 5:21 PMJust thought I would put it out there and say that we all think David has a bigger game to play in this film but how about this:
Personally I've been tinkering with the idea that David in his couple of years "wondering" the ship he desires most of all to become Human. His "brain" filling with ideas and passion about this over that time, turns out to be jelousy and his desire to become one of us 100% is changed within the film at some point.
Knowing that he can not reproduce another life form himself, he sets out to try to uncover the secrets of the SJ's more so than the others, to extent that, he stumbles across ( not yet known / shown ) in the trailors and either uses this against us or tries to create something to give "birth" but obviously has deverstating consequenses on his Human "masters".
We do see him alone in the Starmap room with "old Blue" or several as some people have pointed out, so thus their interest in him sparks it all off as he sees what marvels they can produce and tries to become what he can not..
I think it could be him that enters the SJ chair and becomes one with the ship, thus feeling that he can now give birth by destroying the Human Race and starting the evolution again using the craft as the catalist !!????
Well something along those lines... think you see where I'm heading with this..

MemberOvomorphApr-10-2012 5:40 PMFrom what ive read today i feel that the David character is a bit different ...
its a bit of a kid ...a bit of a comic relief ... but also a very sensitive and "romantic" character ... i think it will be fantastic . More human than humans i think he will play a great part but just like one of the crew , i dont think he will hide secret agendas or big surprises ( i can be of course totally wrong )

MemberOvomorphApr-10-2012 5:44 PMHe looks to me like some kind of crossover between Data/Pinocchio/Tin Man.
Ridley Scott will eventually tell us how the Queen was born.
Right now we have the Deacon; coming soon the Mercury, the May and the Taylor.

MemberOvomorphApr-10-2012 5:47 PMHe could indeed be the farther of the biomechanoid creatures known as the xenomorph .

MemberOvomorphApr-10-2012 6:14 PMI think this could explain some things. I just creating a new thread related to this, but I like the way this ties into the ego and other characteristics Ridley and Damon gave him. It could also give us the individual that attempts to "be like the gods" and causes the retribution.

MemberOvomorphApr-10-2012 7:35 PMI think that the Machiavellian plans and the furtive agendas are the work of Vickers and the will of Sir Peter Weyland IMHO of course.

MemberOvomorphApr-10-2012 10:37 PMI think David will turn out to be our hero for some of the movie, and he finds it amusing that androids are enhanced by the mutation/godly genetics in a good way (like demi-gods) or a bad way like what might happen to the other android. He witnesses what happens to the other mutated android and grows to a massive size where he's able to bash in the skulls of the engineers/mutants that are threatening the people he's protecting.

MemberOvomorphApr-10-2012 10:50 PMIt seems from the trailers David is the only one to board the Space Jockey ship. Looks like star room is on the ship and I haven't seen anyone else, except blue man in that room. I'm guessing the ampule room is in the temple. David looks to be the only one curious/brave/stupid enough to go snooping around their ship.

MemberOvomorphApr-10-2012 11:21 PMI think that David will tap into the nerve center of the sj ship somehow, seems from the trailer that he may accidentally set into motion a series of events: sj's waking, star map activating, releasing the goo, and I think he will be effected by the goo as well- I still stand by my initial impression, I think thats David in the beginning of the trailer...damaged and "healing" as the narrator talks about a king....1.)since we see him in the ship with the sj's circling him, 2.)we see the prometheus ram the ship and it crashes- so I assume david is damaged severely, 3.)maybe the goo helps him regenerate
but I think since Fassbender was cast as David, his role is most significant in this film...maybe even a key player for that notorious "last seven minutes" we have been hearing about....maybe he saves earth by redirecting the star map to lv-426 instead of earth....oh the speculations

MemberOvomorphApr-11-2012 4:11 PMI think you are right cursum_perficio about David at the begining of the trailor, but as it looks like veins are emerging under the skin, perhaps David is becoming Human??
About David saving Earth, you could be spot there too, like your way of thinking :)
