MemberOvomorphApr-08-2012 2:45 AMi've been a longtime advocate of Cunningham helming
the sequel to PROMETHEUS on these boards if there turns out to be one
i think HIS style has the combined starkness / tone of Kubrick's work
Cunningham was at one time on the Black Dog Films roster,
so Ridley Scott is familiar with Cunningham, i just wish that if Scott
would opt out of directing a PROMETHEUS sequel, that Cunningham
would have a fair chance at doing said sequel
Cunningham's work (much like Ridley Scott's work) is cutting edge,
intriguing, and has an undeniable hardcore tone to all his work, even the
"prettier" works he's done
Team Cunningham..!

MemberOvomorphApr-08-2012 3:25 AMCount me in, I've had that 'Directors' dvd for about eight years now - the
one with 'Windowlicker' and the 'All is Full of Love' - superb stuff. On a relevant
note, he was set to direct a film version of 'RanXerox' - the violent cyborg of the
'Heavy Metal' mags but nothing came of it (as usual probably non-visionary execs
seeing non-dollar signs to blame) - that would've been leftfield and intense.
God, to see him involved in any way with a Prometheus follow-up would be fabulous
not only to see him ratchet up the fear factor - judging by his other work this would
be a given for sure - but also to take it in another mindf**k direction.
Has this been mentioned officially then OP, or is this just a wish, lol.

MemberOvomorphApr-08-2012 5:17 AMI did never liked his work at all ...seems like some modern art , made just to raise a "coool" and nothing more . Empty .

MemberOvomorphApr-08-2012 6:58 AMMy bet is the directing job for the sequel goes to Lindelhof.

MemberOvomorphApr-08-2012 7:16 AMI've always been a fan Chris Cunningham. He is the Aphex Twin of vision. Would be interesting to see what kind of movie he could make as he is heavily influenced by sound to create his visions. 'Rubber Jonny' was insane and the artwork that came with the DVD was totally f'd up. His video for Autechre 'gantz graf' blew me away. Not everyone's cup of tea but its like you can see the music

MemberOvomorphApr-08-2012 7:22 AMMaybe Chris Cunningham is WAY TO STRANGE for a mass-movie like "Alien/Prometheus", when analyzing his works till now, he likes that "strange/wired" kind of "reality-interpretation" - really nothing for the MASSES, who love a straight-simple "boom-boom" story with some cool guys, nice explosions and aggressive extraterrestrians... like "Disney"-style movies like BATTLESHIP or TRANSForMERS.. what a BORING CRAP... entertainment-cinema for CHILDRENs...
But thats not SCIENCE FICTION in my eyes.
I love surprising, un-thought ideas, that "could be real" - thats science fiction.
Something for your brain, not only for popcorn...
By the way - avatar is to me also a big can of shit... really BORING...
I dont wait for a sequel, though it will come as it was way to successfull in making $...

MemberOvomorphApr-08-2012 7:27 AM@spacyfreak.......well said dude on both subjects

MemberOvomorphApr-08-2012 8:07 AMScienci fiction is not only Battleship or transformers AGAINST stylish , snobbish, provocative exibitionism ( imo )...
Science fiction to me is Moon , Sunshine , Alien ,Aliens ,Bladerunner ,star wars , the thing and all those masterpieces dont fall in either category .
the coming
MemberOvomorphApr-08-2012 9:21 AMI think Inception has proved there are two markets..one the retard Michael Bay masses..personally I want nothing to do with these people
second the intellectual masses..they do exist and there is big dollar potential, plus you get to make real art...inception, prometheus..these are intelligent movies with mega budgets

MemberOvomorphApr-08-2012 11:03 AMSpeaking of Inception, why not consider Christopher Nolan as a possible candidate for Prometheus 2? Then, another choice could be Guillermo Del Toro. Ridley could stay on as a producer.

MemberOvomorphApr-08-2012 11:09 AMI was gunna suggest Nolan damm you lol. He would be ace directing a sci fi film but I am sure he would want to do a totally original idea probably of his own.

MemberOvomorphApr-09-2012 3:54 AMWell, when it would come to Christopher Nolan, it may be that someone comes to the idea to insert CHRISTIAN BALE into this Prometheus/Alien universe, and to me it was REALLY enough to see bale in "badman" and terminator4, dont want to be bored with this serious-boring type again... just my point of view.
There are lots of more interesting actors out there, even tom cruise is more interesting then christian bale, really one of my most hated actors nowadays. Definitely overrated. And he is in "one boat " with russel crowe.
Thank god (or better - thank to the spacejokey..hehe) michael fassbender and noomie rapace are in prometheus.
Charlize Theron has bad image because of AEONFLUX what was a really bad "modern-looking-mtv-kiddz-tv-romance-bullshit", which noone needs (who is older then 14..).
But hopefully she may not distroy prometheus movie...hehe
Cheers..
