MemberOvomorphMar-31-2012 12:40 PMI'm thinking the goop that the xenomorph secretes -and is a building material it uses to form cocoons, hives/walls, and maybe even eggs- will be somehow tied to what's in the urns, some kind of biological material that can be used to not only to build structures, but even lifeforms.
In terms of Prometheus, I think we've seen this material several times in the trailers:
-pinched between a crewman's fingers
-as the shifting material on the ceiling
-coating or attached to the thing David pulls out of a cannister (note there is a stretching sound)
-the worm like thing that enters someone's space suit may be coated with this kind of goo
-the xeno "mural" may be constructed out of this substance
-it's absence may be the reason the walls of the ship and temple look less organic than the derelict in Alien. Maybe it mutiplies and completely consumes the ship and/or temple, like The Blob.
I'm thinking this may explain the "mural" (if built by non xeno hands). Maybe the SJs worship the xeno because it can create life from its own body. Maybe they've harvested this material, collected in those urns.

MemberOvomorphMar-31-2012 12:56 PMactually a really cool idea, never thought of that.............

MemberOvomorphMar-31-2012 1:23 PMI could go with that theory too ... damn we got enough for our own movie :) ...

MemberOvomorphMar-31-2012 1:29 PMI agree. It is the secretions that biochemically alters what it touches: cocooned prey to eggs, inanimate surfaces/structures to organic, tissue-like structure, etc.
It evolved from goo in a jar to a useful excretion from its own body---similar to our "use" of gametes (sperm, eggs) to procreate.

MemberOvomorphMar-31-2012 1:31 PM" but secreted from what "; in retrospective it is kind of weird that the "goo" may be the beginning of everything. The first time I saw Aliens, I had not seen ALIEN yet, the reference for me was what my mom and dad told me about the movie; so I figured that the marines were getting infected just by touching the walls or resin when they first enter the hive or whatever you wanna call it.

MemberOvomorphMar-31-2012 1:37 PMOr maybe not the beginning of everything, but just one major component. All sorts of nasty things can be in those urns: creatures, bacteria, parasites, etc.

Yeah thats right, my Goo dont work propper thats why i dont have any kids ;)
I think Ridley may want to take his original idea for the Alien and apply it to the Organisms in this movie.
Because the deleted scenes did show that some how that one Alien Xeno was able to have made a Organic Nest that some crew members became trapped in (Dallas) and it would apear he was blending with what looked kinda like a Egg.
For that Scene to had been shot, Ridley must have had one idea that the Xeno could some how make a substance that incases the humans it catches (not kills) this Supstance then grows, maybe feeds of the humans.
So the plan for Alien may had been that the Xeno did not just go around killing people, but instead captured them and made this nest out of no where (so must have been able to make the Organic Material itself) but then why?
So it can reproduce, or just store as Food?
With that scene deleted, the Alien then seemed to come across as a Alien that just goes on the rampage killing for Food or just killing wildly.

MemberOvomorphMar-31-2012 2:07 PMDoes anyone know of similar deleted scenes in alien 3? That xeno was just hell bent on killing everyone. As for the eggs on the SJ ship Biehn_Bandit you opened world of possibilities to how they came to be.. going by how the alien makes the egg on alien deleted scenes shuns the idea of the queen seen in aliens, could the thousands of eggs been created by the corpses of the prometheus or could it of been resting place of the dead alien visitors?? got my brain working overtime on this now

MemberOvomorphMar-31-2012 2:35 PMI'm also thinking something is already lurking around when the Prometheus crew are exploring the urn room. The resin we see someone stretching between their fingers is part of a slime trail the creature leaves behind, just like in Alien. I believe this to be the pale worm creature that attacks someone's suit.

MemberDeaconMar-31-2012 3:22 PMMaybe?
Dont forget the Prometheus crew do say their scanners picked up movement in the chamber/tunnels as well as them.
And when they move in they do spot what looks like a Fallen/Killed Space Jockey.
Someone i read somewhere did say that had inside info and said the Alien in this movie is Larger than those in Alien.
Offcourse this person could be off their rocker and making it up.

Hot damn I hope that's true about a larger alien. And hope it's designed by Giger. Would get a boner.

MemberOvomorphMar-31-2012 5:07 PM I like all the ideas here. The goop could be the very 'fire' that Weyland is after. A material that has the ability to write the code for organic life into anything it comes in contact with. A human, an android, A SHIP... All with different results.
I like it.

the goo is likely biochemical...enzymes to break down, enzymes to rebuild. Like when insects metamorphose. They cocoon themselves and are then genetically pre-planned to breakdown existing pupal DNA/proteins/tissues/organs only to then rebuild new DNA that has new codons for>new proteins which form>new tissues that become>new organs. All at the same time being quite different from the original pupal organism without killing it as it is changed. It breaks its body down then rebuilds/rebirth into completely new being. Life needs proteins called enzymes--without them, no RNA, DNA can be created. All cellular function ceases. Metabolism stops. Death.
