MemberOvomorphMar-11-2012 3:10 AMI have been coming to the board to read, but not join - forgive me if I am out of touch, but I read the forums and feel like this site and the postings are worth taking part of.
I was sorta being lazy, woke up late this morning, this flick fixed in my skull - and I'm sure most of you put this together, so feel free to rip me if I came on board late - but the opening trailer sequence has the voice over of "we were wrong, we were so wrong" - or something similar. Feel free to correct me.
I wonder, and please put me in the direction of the first post to point this out, that the opening sequence in the trailer might put that sample over the opening studio credits of "Prometheus" in context.
The first "Alien" gig started as a distress call signal, only to find that it was a warning. Could the things I've watched in the trailer connect the dots that the actual distress signal comes from one of the characters in the new movie? The revelation to 'stay away' might have come from whoever gets to see (what I think) might be the fall of the Space Jockey ship?
Thanks for entertaining me - not one to contribute much, but it got my mind running. The "Stay Away" idea took hold, but from what I've read from most who frequent here suggests you already put that tidbit together. :)

MemberOvomorphMar-11-2012 5:25 AMYes It has already been concieved this idea but The thing about it is that they would immediatley recognise a transmission say from prometheus as a warning to stay away (would be tagged as weyland) but the transmission is of alien origin and is translated as a warning so either an SJ set's it off to warn others of it's own kind of a dangerous lifeform and to stay away... Or one of the humans does this who is on their side for for the greater good or in the companies interests as a means to find it again at a later date.....
oh yeah or the alien the busts out of the SJ's chest could do it also
We won't know until we see the film but I think it will get dealt with in the plot hopefully

MemberOvomorphMar-11-2012 11:09 AMYes it has been discussed quite a bit my friend, but hey, we're glad you've decided to join us. We're a fun bunch so long as the conversation is civil and tasteful. Thanks for the effort....I'll post a link to to the thread where this has been discussed. As this site gets bigger, it becomes more of a technical burden and we're trying to keep the duplicate threads down, so I'd appreciate an attempt to research before posting. A search option should be up soon. Thanks for your patience, but In the future I'll have to lock the thread.

I'll give this one a day or so before I lock it, but seriously, welcome....

AdminEngineerMar-11-2012 12:53 PMI would like to welcome you as well Late, glad to have you aboard!
This is a great topic for discussion and Craigamore has been kind enough to add a few reference links for your reading pleasure and hopefully some contribution!
On a side note, the search feature is progressing and should go live very soon.
Thanks!

MemberOvomorphMar-11-2012 3:29 PMWelcome to this forum :)
Yes this issue has been already discussed
About, that the warning signal might
In Alien was actually not sent out by
The SJ but by a Prometheus crew using
The derelict ship to warn any further
Incoming ships. As coding device are
Not human, it needed to be translated
By the nostromo.
but i guess if Weyland yutani was
looking for alien species anyway,
they did not care whether it was an
sos or warning signal.

MemberOvomorphMar-11-2012 8:59 PMThanks, everyone. Probably should have done more poking around, but the links were just what I was looking for! Pretty easy to read a lot into things because they are so open to interpretation, especially in the first flick. Looking forward to contributing, but I still cannot stop watching the trailer. Managed to throw it on for a few drinking buddies who were skeptics a few nights ago, and they flipped over some of the obvious connections. I probably sent a few more peeps your way to join up and follow. Excellent site, gonna catch up on other posts!

MemberOvomorphMar-12-2012 9:11 AMRonster, the idea of Vickers/Shaw being the origin of the derelict transmission implies that it would get horribly garbled into the eerie sound of the original, so any "signature" would be unrecognizable

MemberOvomorphMar-13-2012 8:09 AMgranted on that sxv but then you know how is this possible for one of the humans to do it unless they are wearing the biomechanical suit thats too big for them normally or perhaps it shrinks to your body god knows perhaps it won't be dealt with...
it seems too difficult to answer at the momment perhaps somone should post this question for ridley's Q&A to ask if the plot point is dealt with but not how.....
