MemberOvomorph02/2/2012Ahoy Wheresbasky! 1. When the Derelict ship appears to be standing upright, I think it's "docking" or launching perhaps. But the odd shape of the ship begs the question of how it flies/launches and lands. . . 2. Not sure how to answer that one :) Lol. 3. Yeah the Xenomorphs and SJ's definitly share a biomechanical background by the looks of it, I just can't wait to see what the link is between the two species!

MemberOvomorph02/2/2012The picture where the ship is standing upright is actually how the ship came down after the crash/explosion in the air. If you look carefully at the image where Shaw is looking up at the ship, you can see debris floating around in the air.
The other more overhead shot is even more obvious that it's just crashed. You can see the gouge where the left "horn" hit the ground and there are fires and debris scattered all over the ground.
So IMO the answer is
4) Ship landed upright after the mid air collision/eplosion.
wheresbasky?
MemberOvomorph02/2/2012Ahhh!!! so the image is the moment of impact then???
I don't think it remained upright,as in the trailer we see Shaw and Co running from the falling derelict under a shower of debris?.......hold up,let me guess the falling ship is an event later in the movie??
It was worth a punt though, just from that image alone.

MemberOvomorph02/2/2012When Shaw is looking at the ship standing upright (0:52 of the trailer), I think it could be taking off or in its final position before it goes "clunk" because the shot is centric on Shaw (David is absent, he would have been with her on the initial boarding) and I'm not convinced the ship actually stops rolling when it crashes (CGI camera at 0:54 *seems* to be moving slower than the ship itself).
Another mystery is frame 0:46 of the trailer when Shaw gets blown away. What could that dust storm be? They dodging a hurricane? Or is the ship landing for the first time? Can't confirm/deny much in that shot, there's no ship visible...

MemberOvomorph02/2/2012There is very little that we know about the ship. There is some info on the web that says the ship "spins." The final standing position of the derelict is little too perfect. You are telling me that after being hit by an explosion the ship just falls to the ground standing upright in perfect 90 deg angle?

MemberOvomorph02/2/2012@Jeffomorph
Can't see any debris floating around and it looks pretty intact to me bud. IMO this is when Shaw is dragged away by the storm and makes first contact with the Engineers.

MemberTrilobite02/2/2012LOL bellaisanalien - In the storm scene Shaw is wearing her yellow hat thing. Also is pretty much well established that the derelict crashes and rolls to that position.
BellaisanAlien
MemberOvomorph02/2/2012I don't know how you can know that for sure Snork..... she's going to be pretty shaken up by the storm and that yellow head band isn't staying on her head.

I see this as the derelict in landed position - seems to perfect to be crashed......
and the former picture of Shaw to me is standing in front of the landed ship.....
completely agree I could be wrong, but please show me some proof of the resting place of the crashed derelict......

MemberOvomorph02/2/2012@BellaisanAlien
Well you could be right...but there are also signs of "drag" marks on the ground. (To the left of the ship in the last pic you posted). The marks can support the idea of the ship crashing and rolling. However, I agree that the "rolling" seems kind of odd.
Gavin
MemberTrilobite02/2/2012honestly I don't know if you are trolling or not...
Pretty much most people on these forums have already sussed (99% sure) that the the Prometheus/Magellan crashes into the derelict in the air, causing it to fall from the sky turning as it does so and when it crashes the momentum continues causing it to roll to the position shown in the image you posted.
It has been discussed in many, many threads since the trailer was released.
BellaisanAlien
MemberOvomorph02/2/2012I'm not Trolling Snork, I am just just thinking that the picture of Shaw looking up at the derelict is either:
1. after the crash as you believe....
or
2. before the derelict has taken off. My theory is Shaw gets swept away from the storm makes first actual contact between herself and the Engineers, becomes impregated and returns / escapes back to the Prometheus....... Only a guess on my part though.

MemberOvomorph02/2/2012@draekus, I see what you mean about the drag marks,
but my point is that from a few pictures it is so hard to set a context. The derelict could be postioned on a ridge, and the drag marks are the ridge rather than the latter.......
I just can't see the derelict crashing and then righting it's self to be in such a perfect position......
BellaisanAlien
MemberOvomorph02/2/2012Thanks Ripley Clone 8, how about matching the light and landscape between the crash and the pictures of the static derelict. Especially the pict with just the derelict seems to be a completley different terrain.....

MemberOvomorph02/2/2012I see where you're coming from Bella, for the ship to crash tumble and roll into the "launch ready" position doesn't seem very physically likely.
Seeing that we have no reason to think that the trailer is chronological, the scene where Shaw is looking up at the Derelict could very well not be connected to the crash.
alteredstate.
MemberOvomorph02/2/2012I have a theory that the xenomorph becomes biomechanoid initially from its raw dna which is organic tissue- but with a built in symbiotic value that absorbs a hosts dna structure to complete its new unique life form state,... and either by accident or design, the lifeform becomes absorbed into the body of a android, and through symbiosis it merges with the artificial dna created by man, and the xenos raw state /living organic tissue, is what your seeing in the trailer, and through this joining of raw xeno dna/organic tissue, and android manufactured dna, you get the birth of the biomechanoid organism we know and love today.

MemberOvomorph02/2/2012My take is:
Derelict lands and causes the tempest
that pushes Shaw to fall deep. Then
She encounters the SJs who make
experiments on her (interspecies gangbang?)
Anfd returns impreganted to the others.
When she already gave birth to whatever,
and maybe after some fights betwen human
and mutants and SJ, the derelict takes off
to reach earth but gets hit by a kamikaze
Attack by the prometheus.
Then after the midair crash the derelict
falls from thr skies damaged on
The planet but did not break apart
At all, just debris.

MemberOvomorph02/2/2012Alterstate, thats the longest sentence I've ever seen
alteredstate.
MemberOvomorph02/2/2012yes but what do you think of the theory lol.

MemberOvomorph02/2/2012My head hurts now.....lol.
wheresbasky?
MemberOvomorph02/2/2012Ok! is this the derelict that Dallas and crew find in Alien?
if so and it has crashed?are telling me that it has,by some pure fluke!,crash landed right on top of the cavern containing the alien eggs!!!..because that then opens up a new thread asking, after the crash did the Alien burn through the hull excavate a massive cavern and lay eggs in it and set up some kind of sophisticated laser alarm system? because the movie seems to suggest that the egg chamber was a purpose built storage facility!!!
there you go!!!
chew on that one guys
Ender
MemberOvomorph02/2/2012LOL, It definitely would tie in with David getting infected and the whole "green slime is a sort of genesis material"
I wouldn't rule it out, in fact the more I think of it the more sense it makes. Maybe in the last 8 minutes where we're supposed to see "strands of Alien DNA" some sort of early android Xeno is produced that sets the scene for the crashed ship on Acheron.

MemberOvomorph02/2/2012Wheresbasky?? WHERESBASSKY??? sorry been wanting to do that for ages.

MemberOvomorph02/2/2012just letting the mind wander guys

MemberOvomorph02/2/2012yep that green slime is indeed the raw state genetic material i'm referring to
wheresbasky?
MemberOvomorph02/2/2012Yayyyy!!! Enderwiggin you got it!!! that's what I was going for, was wondering if any one would get the reference "wiersbasky?... wlersbasky?"a panic stricken Hicks shouted.
Ender
MemberOvomorph02/2/2012Yeah its a great soundbite! For years I thought he was shouting Wheres Basky? then I read he was referring to Private Trevor Wierzbowski LOL
alteredstate.
MemberOvomorph02/2/2012In other words the dna strand has missing code that it acquires from a living host to complete its final form, it can get this missing code from any living organism,.. but since this is the first creation of this species -created by the engineers, then it is a prototype .
However it.. ( either by accident or design) becomes attached to an organism that is not a natural organism but is indeed an android. The android is a human made genetic design and therefore the symbiosis of the two life forms results in the xeno biomechanoid life form.
