The main problem I see, with producing all these confusing theories, is that info that is not deemed canon can be messing with our minds, to a point where we're not staying on target with the basics and what we know just from the movies themselves ... all the deleted scenes were deleted for a reason ... to set and 'maybe' change the whole main story line and then more so after they finished the movie and produced the final cut ... i.e. make it canon ... I don't trust any info in those deleted scenes, for this reason, as they could led to red herrings ... good info, I grant you but I wouldn't take it as trusted info ... they should all be left on the floor of the cutting room ... but that's just me ...

As for the cup of tea at the beginning of Prometheus ... with that 'stuff' now in the water ... if it 'is' goo or Xeno based, then are all the organisms, fish and whatever else is in there not turned into alien type species? ... I don't think it was goo ... just another prescription from Boots (chemist) that the Engineers created for themselves, to produce whatever they were trying to achieve ... life ... so would that then produce the mammals that came out of the water and turned into man? ... or something else? ...

Here's one for you ... what if that's not Earth? ... just another experiment but this one goes wrong ... could that be the planet Covenant arrives at and lands on, after all these years later? ... it's had time to evolve ... Scott doesn’t claim it’s necessarily Earth (in his BluRay commentary) he seems pissed that people assumed it was definitely Earth ... that just came out in the moment ... no books or deleted scenes ... out side the box that one ... lol ...

I agree with the majority above, in saying no to remakes ... reboots on the other hand are like a refresher for people who were'nt around when the originals came out ... so it's like catch up for those people ... and yes it's a money making enterprise ... I don't mind the reboots so much but a remake? ... hmmm ... not Alien, that's for sure ... doesn't need it, imho nor does others for that matter ...

I'm with Lone regarding the classics though ... you listed my favs also ... I actually love those oldies because of the atmosphere they produce, while watching them ... the orignal 'Thing from Another World' is gold ... and 'Forbidden Planet' my all time fav ...

I'm still building the fence regarding the reboot/remake topic ...

Yeah, I saw elsewhere, the other day, that someone pointed out that could be a Hammerpede image in the background ... therefore if it is the red sculpture may well be of that Hammerpede itself then ... or something else entirely ...

With Dave a bit on this ... but ...

I'd like to see the elders being the top dog, overlords (hate using the word God) ... and the engineers the slaves (experiment fodder) ..

I'd also like to think that, the huge pebble ship is still active (look how old the elders are) ... maybe it's on paradise or somewhere close (to their home) ... beings with that technology and advancement would not just die off ... engineers yes, maybe but not the elders ... and where all the women at? ... probably on that ship (or the main home world, not Paradise) ... the engineers could be birthed by the elders using advanced tech (matrix style) ...

And yes to seeing more holographic recordings for flashback & continuity ... which could've been transmitted back to main base ... maybe David finds more info that way as he knows how to work it now ...

But also, if the Prometheus exhibition did not meet the engineers, things would still go to plan (infection, etc) with the same results but only if a female engineer engaged with a goo infected engineer, because their DNA matches ours, Human ... so a similar outcome would result ... it's just that the crew fu*ked it all up by interferring and letting it all loose ... probably why it was taken away from the main homeworld to the desolate planet in the first place, to protect their species? ...

Didn't see any Engineers from Alien to Aliens, to Alien 3 and Alien R could be because they didn't think a prequel would be made ... or they didn't know how to write it in?

Paradise, I don't think, is the main homeworld ... it could be the testing ground for the experiements/construction of the goo ... and by the looks of it, that went Pete Tong (wrong) too ... David's intervention? ... don't know but I don't think he would survive that outbreak, seen in the set photos ... he may have found out why it went wrong though ...

@Monster Zero ... well there were 5 silos on the planet, so maybe 5 ships as well? ... may have some other engineers in hypersleep ... I peronally would've dumped them ... just to be sure ...

@Dave ... good explanation regarding the goo and it's destructive use ... but ... that still doesn't explain where or what happened to the few that actually made it through the door, before it closed ... where are they? ... they should be in the room, along with the head surely? ... i.e. ALL preserved? ... I counted 7 (maybe more?) engineers running down the holographic tunnel footage ... so that (at least) means there should be 6 that made it into the ampule room ... the other 10+ at the other door obviously didn't make it (wherever they were headed for) ... I personally don't see any evidence of other doors leading to the ampule room ...

Re: The other door (Millburn & Fifield found) ... where there were 10+ other Engineers piled up, why didn't the crew get 'that' door re-opened (by David)? ... or did that door lead to the Orrery room? ... hence 4 made it to the chambers, but 3 still got blasted? ... lack of priorities and sillyness didn't really help that expidition ...

@ TD ... yes I reckon they were running from their own creation ... possible another Mr T (Trilobite)? ... or another deacon, which would make sense if one was infected previously by Mr T (back when the hologram was recorded)?, as we do know the outcome of that process :) ... but we would've expected some evidence of something, surely? ...

Fantastic movie but all that production value and so many unanswered questions ... more so if we won't be re-visiting LV-233 ...

I would've loved them to have (wish they had) explored the other 4 silos/temples in Prometheus, where I reckon different species were and hence different murals ... so unless there are more silos (or similar) in AC I don't think we will ... that's my guess ...

Going back to my theory of the Butterfly life-cycle ...

What if the Alien's acidic blood is the actual Enzyme (molecular acid) that is (maybe) used for the (egg) morphing process? ... the corrosive action of the blood is probably not due to a single acid but a complex of enzymes ... it just so happens to be a great defence mechanism as well ...

I can see where they get their ideas from ...

Very similar (although without Alien goo) happens on Earth ... the life-cycle of butterflies ... eggs hatch ... the caterpillar turns into a chrysalis within a few days ... the caterpillar then digests itself, starts to break down inside (enzymes turn the caterpillar into a 'soup' like substance) ... some of the 'imaginal discs' are left behind, which survive the digestive process ... there’s a pair for the antennae, a pair for the eyes, one for each leg and wing, and so on ...

Sorry, my nature head was on at this point ... I like to breed moths & butterflies, now and again and photograph the process ... it's fantastic ...

Right back on track ...

@Chris ... that looks like a possible green screen shot but definitely different to the main monitor ... I know (high end) directors mix GS/VFX shots direct into the scenes real-time previews, hence my reply ... I'm wondering if the corridor is CGI, because the first 2 rectangle lights are a bit too sharp, compared to the structure surrounding them, which is slightly blurry (out of focus) as you would expect ... this is more evident on the HD image ...

Yes to looks like tears and yes deffo a chair ... great shot (image) that ... powerful ... and the Ripley vibe I think is all part and parcel of how the women will change (over time) til we get to Ripley herself, when we finally get to 'Alien' ... i.e, the old school look and feel is being developed ... I'm loving this ...

@ADH0983 ... With all due respect I think you 'shouted' a bit too much there @Gigerland ... I do agree with what you said except for the personal attack ;) ... You ALL must remember that some of the guys have been here a whole year or more and have heard repeats MORE than anyone else ... but they still help out with friendly advice ... Yes it does get annoying sometimes, due to getting new people everyday they WILL post similar posts ... that's how we think ... yes there is a SEARCH feature now but that's all it takes, is to point them in the right direction ... it will get far worse when the movie is released so please be prepared for an influx of a lot more newer folk, into the forum, eager to share their joys, as you all did when you first arrived here ... ;) ... Well Prometheus is being shot in 2.35:1 cinemascope, and IMAX films need to be cropped to 1.85:1 ... So for IMAX you get a bigger picture and therefore, I would've thought, you would NOT get the WHOLE picture, being as it's getting cropped ... :/ ... I'm not 100% on this btw ... just guessing ...

To be fair Jono ... we could all come to that conclusion now with the latest trailers/TV Spots as one of them does show the Merc, Ford and possibly Shaw are all together in the hologram room with an SJ ... I'm still skeptical about these screenings that's all ;) ... if they're bang on the money then I won't have a problem with that ... by that time I'll be able to tell you all about MY screening when i see it next week :) ...
