"Entry of the Gods Into Valhalla"

@Big Dave! guess what? thanks to a member of AVPGalaxy, I managed to find the roots of Black goo!

It is a mythical substance called "Eitr". This is what Wikipedia says about it:

"Eitr is a mythical substance in Norse mythology. This liquid substance is the origin of all living things: the first giant Ymir was conceived from eitr. The substance is supposed to be very poisonous and is also produced by Jörmungandr (the Midgard serpent) and other serpents."

Sound familiar? It could be just a coincidence, but the parallels with the black goo of Prometheus are amazing. I wonder if Ridley was inspired by this ...

Where do eggs come from?

@Acasta Gneiss, I expect to see something like this in Alien: Covenant

"Entry of the Gods Into Valhalla"

Thanks to a member of AVPGALAXY, I came across an interesting read...

"On the 29th October, AVP Galaxy published a brief report claiming that Guy Pearce is set to reprise his role as Peter Weyland, the billionaire industrialist who appeared in wizened form in Prometheus. Briefly described in that report is a flashback scene that is said to appear near the start of Alien: Covenant - Peter Weyland switching on David 8, the duplicitous android played by Michael Fassbender. David, the report continues, plays a piece of music from composer Richard Wagner's Das Rheingold - presumably on a piano - before explaining the story behind the melody.

Das Rheingold, to outline it very briefly, sees a dwarf named Alberich steal a magical gold ring from a bunch of maidens who live in the Rhine. That ring, which gives its wearer power over the whole world, is in turn stolen from the dwarf by Wotan, a Zeus-like god of gods. Meanwhile, there's trouble in Valhalla: the gods have contracted a pair of giants to build them a luxurious new house, but when it comes time for the gods to pay up, they renege on the deal. What follows is an almighty tussle between giants, gods and ordinary mortals, with the purloined ring the MacGuffin at the centre of it all."

So, the black goo could be as an equivalent of the ring of Das Rheingold, an item that contains the power of the gods. And we have the mortals (humans), the Giants (Engineers) and maybe the Gods (those who created them). I think a great battle or event occurred in the ancient past...and I wonder if we can see part of this conflict at the present time (Maybe David will unleash hell in paradise). Also, Engineers can be divided into fractions:

a) Those who support God

b) Those who support Satan

For a civil war I can think of several reasons, such as:

1) Space Jesús: There are engineers who want to help the human race to evolve...but there are evil giants who are jealous of the progress of mandkind, ready to exterminate life on planet Earth.

2) Prometheus Myth: There are Engineers who want to give powerfull gifts to mandkind against the will of God...

3) The rebellion of angels: Perhaps there are Engineers who want to be like their Gods (the original Space Jockeys), and they have stolen technology from them...perhaps they betrayed them and killed them.

4) Engineers have an enemy (Another race of aliens): unlikely, but this could explain why they have created a biological weapon so powerful and dangerous...

And that's all I can think of for now

"Entry of the Gods Into Valhalla"

Well, Valhalla sounds like a heaven for Warriors. And we know that there are vestiges of a war in Alien: Covenant...

Perhaps there is a difference between the physical Paradise (Engineer's planet) and the astral Paradise. Maybe, the Engineers have religious beliefs or even a God...

The story also talks about Ragnarök, Could be the plans of extermination of the human race?

How might it all link back to Alien?

Space Jockey ship looks ancient, as coming from Paradise...

Perhaps there was a war in the ancient past, and the events of LV-426 and LV-223 are connected to that war

The only way to include the Space Jockey in Alien: Covenant (Or future sequels) is through flashbacks or holograms.

Unless, Ridley Scott can change his mind about it (Ie, the Space Jockey is not so old)...so they can show us that event in real time...but it is very unlikely. I personally prefer the connection with the Space Jockey, instead of Ripley's mother, because with the latter, this universe looks smaller and I want a Lovecraft-style horror universo.

But if they are going to make from this a trilogy, perhaps the third film establishes connections with the Alien. Who knows at this point.

Btw, I am very curious about how they will explain the differences in size between Prometheus Engineers and the Space Jockey? this is probably the biggest hole of all, and I don't see easy solutions to that question...but I can think of two options:

a) The eldery Engineers are higher than young ones

b) The Space Jockeys are genuine biomechanical entities, and a diferent species and the Engineers are imitating them. The Space Jockey could be their God.

The film and creatures must be FRIGHTENING!

Without doubt that pallid skin monster is frightening, like a ghost...

Now how about a skull inside the dome?

But also, they should include some sort of God in the equation

Is the Beaked man a representation for the eagle who eats the liver of Prometheus?

Amazing theories guys...the fresco could be a representation of the myth of Prometheus...also could be the Starbeast of Dan O'Bannon...and also could be inspired by Alien Monster IV by H.R.Giger:

But what about the green crystal?

Perhaps it is a fossil which contains the DNA of a primordial monster, like amber:

And the black goo extracted DNA from the beast to create similar life forms:

And I still think about the parallelism with the myth of Prometheus. Perhaps an engineer was sacrificed (as punishment?) in order to create the monster.

any thoughts?

It would be a pleasure for me Chris :)

Alien: Paradise Lost to have connection to Ripley!

Sorry pal, but we already have a thread:

New Discovery in Japan!

@Rex,

Yes, you are right. In addition, according to Wikipedia (which is not an entirely reliable source) tyrannosaurs existed in South America and Australia. Is that true?

"Fossils of tyrannosauroids have been recovered on what are now the continents of North America, Europe, Asia, South America and Australia."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tyrannosauroidea

Although I think that this article is about Tyrannosauroidea superfamily, and not about Tyrannosauridae family.

New Discovery in Japan!

I thought of tyrannosaurids as a North American group of dinosaurs, with the exception of Tarbosaurus (and not counting the ancestors as Guanlong or dilong). Indeed a fantastic discovery!

Could Megalon be a cyborg?

Or maybe it's like the alien bio-suit from District 9, which requires alien DNA to launch its functions

Maybe he is a Biomechanoid, or a lifeform that is not based on carbon

How about a Kaiju with this shape?

@Al, I had never thought about water bears. You made a good point. Indeed is similar to the unused creature from the first teaser. And yeah, a monster like that could be interesting for PR 2 too.

Just An Idea

I'm digging this. Thanks for the read!

Prometheus 2 plot, possible just speculation not FACT

@Something Real, part of me is interested in these designs from Carlos Huante portofolio (Although I'm not a fan of the idea of the spacesuit). Mostly because that organic suit looks like a living creature by itself:

Almost as if the engineers were parasites using another species for their benefit, such as these shrimp using these jellyfish as transportation and food:

As I said, I'm not a big fan of the humanoid wearing suits, but if there was no other choice, I would have preferred that the suit itself is a creature apart from the user.

It would be great to see unused ideas of Carlos Huante

Neill Blomkamp Talks About Getting Alien 5

@Necro, who knows, maybe Ridley Scott can be a creative consultant.

@oduodu, the connections between both films are not necessary. Both can survive as its own thing. In addition, Prometheus seems to go in another direction, as a spin-off, but since Ridley Scott's producer...who knows, maybe there will be some easter eggs over there :p

Pre-production on new Alien film will start next week

Indeed! this is so exciting :)

Did Xenomorphs eat people

And the Runner from Alien 3? There is a scene where it seems that was eating one of his victims, though I could be wrong.

Has Prometheus 2 been stalled

Let's face it, Prometheus was a disappointment to many fans and I doubt that FOX would want to make a movie only to please us: a small handful of faithful fans of Ridley Scott.

Anyway I would like to see both films. That Being Said, I want some elements belonging to Prometheus in this new Alien movie.

BTW this crossover could be osome :D

neil blomkamp alien 5 ideas

Speculating a bit, I think Neil Blomkamp had the idea that Weyland Yutani discovered that the pilot of the ship from LV-426 was a giant man in a spacesuit. Then, the company manufactured its own version by reverse engineering. And considering that Neil Blomkamp loves everything related to robotic suits (see Distic 9 and Ellysium), perhaps he wanted to explore more about the technology of the  Engineers, a technology that can be very important to pilot the alien spacecraft.

These designs predate the development of Prometheus? I ask because the idea of biomechanical suits seems to be present in the ideas of Neil Blomkam

Diabolus Rex by Hellraptor

Impressive. Your Cryolophosaurus and Velociraptor are also cool :D

What Will The Mososaur Attack?

Same here, the mosasaurus should play an important role in the climax, along with T.Rex.

I don't hate thís dinosaur, so I'm ok with a small cameo or something :p

New interview with Ridley Scott

Sorry for my lack of dedication to the thread, and thanks for the details!

I have no interest in The Martian, so I am very frustrated by the long wait. Btw, The interview does not reveal too many new things, but I am still very excited to see David as a villain rather than an anti hero.

If you could be a dinosaur trainer...

PROMETHEUS 2 INTERVIEWS RIDLEY AND RAPACE

I don't know if this is very reliable, however:

Scott was asked what the creature looked like and its nature, and the director replied that the composition is very close to the 1979 Alien creature.

'Prometheus 2' spoilers, release date rumors: Director Ridley Scott spills major character details

Is Scott's next film after 'The Martian', 'Prometheus 2'?

I hope his next film, after The Martian, is Prometheus 2; because he seems to be very enthusiastic about the project. After all, this man is a legend of the science fiction, and I'm sure he can make a great movie in this universe where no one can hear you scream.

Star Wars teaser trailer gif?

PROMETHEUS 2 INTERVIEWS RIDLEY AND RAPACE

I can't lie, I have the hope that the new monster may have some resemblance to the suit that the Engineers use to fly their ships.

PROMETHEUS 2 INTERVIEWS RIDLEY AND RAPACE

On second thought, who knows, maybe something about the Deacon and LV-223 will be shown in Prometheus 2. This project is at a very early stage of development, so we must take the words of Ridley Scott with some skepticism.

PROMETHEUS 2 INTERVIEWS RIDLEY AND RAPACE

lol I had forgotten these comics

PROMETHEUS 2 INTERVIEWS RIDLEY AND RAPACE

Regarding the USS Prometheus incident I don't know. Do you think that could be an inconsistency? the crew died and the only survivor probably never return to Earth, and I'm not sure if the company had knowledge of this expedition.

Moreover, even if they know that, I really doubt that they will take the risk of spending a mountain of money to send another expedition. Maybe the Nostromo it's the intent of the company to find out what is hidden in the z reticuli system.

That said, I don't think this will generate a plot hole in the franchise.

PROMETHEUS 2 INTERVIEWS RIDLEY AND RAPACE

Yes Batchpool, I believe that Prometheus is the prologue of an upcoming great movie. Although we could be wrong lol I hope not.

PROMETHEUS 2 INTERVIEWS RIDLEY AND RAPACE

I don't think that Ridley Scott wants to ignore the Engineers. He claims to be tired of gods and dragons, but in the past Scott refers to them as dark angels.

As for the dragons, maybe Ridley is sick of having the animal-like-monster and maybe this time he wants an intelligent alien monster character.
