If you ask any science-fiction movie fan what their favorite films are, you'll likely get a long list: Metropolis, Blade Runner, 2001, The Day the Earth Stood Still, the original Godzilla, The Thing, and so on. But, let's be honest, those responses are so 20th century.

Fantastic science fiction films Since Y2K, a slew of exciting, intelligent, offbeat, satirical, and terrifying science fiction films have reached art houses and multiplexes. We compiled a list of the Best Sci-Fi Movies of the Twenty-First Century in 2014, a fast and dirty survey of the genre's best since the millennium began.

In this digital age, platforms like Netflix, Hulu, and Disney Plus have really made it easy for people to watch their favorite content. However, their geo-restrictions are something that hurts the users. Nevertheless, according to StreamingRant, you can access any streaming service easily with a VPN.

Some of our personal favorites narrowly missed the cut (sorry, Alex Rivera's Sleep Dealer) or big titles were docked due to quality-control issues. (Avatar may have revolutionized 3D cinema, but “unobtanium”? Seriously?!?) We're sure, however, that these latecomers would find a place in the canon.

Here are the top 5 science fiction movies listed which have been the inspiration of most people. Have a Look!

  1. Star Wars released in (1977)

Until Star Wars, science fiction was a fairly obscure genre. Despite the fact that shows like The Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits drew a sizable audience, they never quite broke through to a global audience. Films such as 2001: A Space Odyssey and The War of the Worlds were revolutionary, but they failed to appeal to the general public. However, in 1977, a small passion project from George Lucas' mind changed everything. Star Wars (1977) is notable not only as a genre pioneer but also as the best film in one of cinema's most illustrious franchises.

Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope tells a close tale with a satisfying conclusion and a memorable villain. As a result, the original Star Wars will go down in history as one of the greatest science fiction films ever made. Disney Plus is the new home for all Star Wars content. You can get Disney Plus Bundle to explore more content titles from Hulu and ESPN.

  1. Blade Runner: 2049 released in (2017)

The stunning cinematography of Roger Deakins alone is worth the price of admission, but there's so much more to Blade Runner: 2049 that elevates it beyond the original. First and foremost, let's acknowledge the amazing talent that contributed to the film. Denis Villeneuve took over directing duties from Ridley Scott, and Hampton Fancher (Blade Runner) and Michael Green (Logan) co-wrote the screenplay. Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford co-star in the film. Wow, that's a lot of skill. One of the most visually beautiful films I've ever seen is Blade Runner: 2049. It's also a more difficult story than the original, with more emotional complexity. 2049 is an exhausting three-hour film, but it is well worth seeing for Sci-Fi fans.

  1. Interstellar released in (2014)

Before its release in 2014, Interstellar was praised as the sci-fi follow-up to the critically acclaimed 2001: A Space Odyssey. Interstellar, directed by Christopher Nolan, is a near-future tale of survival across galaxies. It lived up to the hype in my opinion, but some critics did not share my enthusiasm.

Interstellar is definitely the film I've seen the most in the last five years, and it's also my personal favorite from Christopher Nolan.

  1. 2001: A Space Odyssey released in (1956) 2001: A Space Odyssey has received a lot of acclaims, but few reviewers have pointed out how strange the movie is. This movie is completely insane. Yes, I'm referring to the epilepsy-inducing light series, as well as the last if you like Kubrick, science fiction, or have a lot of patience, you'll probably enjoy this mind-bending film. Long shots of ships floating through the ether and, of course, HAL's frightening intonation.

If it was a TV show rather than a movie, then no doubt that it should have been one of the best 90s shows to watch on Netflix

  1. Solaris released in (1972)

Solaris, Andrei Tarkovsky's sci-fi epic, is one of the most ominous films in the genre. Even the most ardent science fiction fans may get lost in the picture's abstract tale - I know I did. But don't be discouraged; Solaris rewards persistence with a satisfying conclusion. Solaris finishes as clearly as it started, with a murky meditation on the human spirit, after nearly three hours of moral dilemmas.
