Sources say that Star Wars Episode 7 is set to start filming on May 14th in Morocco. With this news, it leads us to believe that the movie will return to Tatooine. Each of the other appearances Tatooine has had in the movies were filmed in Morocco and many of the set buildings still stand there! Many people make the trip out to Morocco (a trip I would like to take myself) just to see the sets! The sets are pretty weathered, but I think that would add some character and age for the new movie.
Here are a few pictures of the current state of the sets:
Also, there is a rumor that the new Star Wars film will visit Iceland for filming. Some are speculating that means we will see Hoth again. The original filming of Hoth in "The Empire Strikes Back" was done in Norway, so the location does not prove it will indeed be Hoth. Still, it would be interesting to potentially see the aftermath of the Hoth battle.
What do you think about the prospects of revisiting such classic Star Wars locations?
