Alien: Covenant introduced us to a number of new creatures and concepts through David and his unquenchable thirst for experimentation and the pursuit of perfection with the Alien pathogen / Black Goo. But, despite all the concepts present in the film, there were many left on the cutting room floor when the project was still considered Prometheus 2 and not Alien: Covenant or Paradise Lost. Concept artist Carlos Huante has just uploaded a number of concepts he provided for Prometheus 2 which unfortunately were never explored in Alien: Covenant.

David's Pets

A dog and a minks were two of the indigenous animals on Paradise David was going to claim as his own personal pets. As Carlos' artwork shows, these animals would have been affected by the pathogen and David's experimentation to give them various Alien traits:

David's Experiments

The following concepts depict mutated Engineers. David tampered extensively with the pathogen, adapting it and splicing it to create various hybrid forms of the hosts he infected it with. It would've been neat to see some of these concepts explored in Alien: Covenant.

Neomorph Design

Carlos Huante provided an early concept for what the eventual Neomorph was going to look like. Throughout the design process, many of the features present in Carlos' original work were removed and the only aspect which carried through seems to be the white skin color. Personally, I prefer the simpler design of the Neomorphs we saw in Alien: Covenant, but a variation closer to this design would also have been extremely fascinating to see on the big screen.

Deadly Alien Plants

Huante provided some neat storyboards for Prometheus 2 as well. Before the film was titled Alien: Covenant, Paradise was going to be home to various Black Goo altered vegetation. These Alien Flowers, acted a lot like the Alien Spores we got in Alien: Covenant, releasing pollen which when inhaled would act just like the Black Goo, turning its victim into a mutated Alien monster.

Be sure to check out Carlos' Instagram for more and let us know what you think of these unused Alien: Covenant concepts in the comments section!

GREAT post!! I've always loved looking over Conceptual works, it's like a hidden 'other movie'. :)

Also gives me some great inspiration....just wish I had some artistic talent to be able to SHOW people, but literary will have to suffice.

Very interesting takes on the potential with creatures.  It really does make me feel like there was a movie skipped during this process.  Shaw and David 'figuring things out'.  David v Shaw v Engineers, creating new creatures every 5 minutes.

some interesting ideas as far as Story Board and Plants, its very Fire and Stone.... i wonder which draft these ideas was off?

As for the Creatures... well they are not very good to be honest, i mean they are but they dont seem to fit with what the Black Goo does... then again look at Alien Covenant lol (Bombardment)

These are more connected but maybe too much and so something between them would be better... i did like his Prometheus Concepts though.

Here are some more... seems a lot are basically taking his Prometheus designs and modifying them.

A lot of these are based off the Goblin Shark and look Awful... sorry the Black Goo is Xenomorph related and not Goblin Shark..

I think removing the Goblin Shark Snout and they are not to bad.

Remember this was based of the Goblin Shark too and looks more better.

Does the last picture of the "plant" scene look like the Space Jockey?

I dont think it does....

To me what it seems is happening is the Black Goo has turned Plants into a Xeno-DNA Hybrid Plant and then aids the Plants with a Xeno-type Parasitic Procreation..

so the infected person mutates and ends up a Huge Mass of Plant/Xeno/Human Hybrid that more Plant Spores will just grow from... eventually i would assume the more Life infected by these Plants, will just become part of the Landscape and then we will end up with this.

Perhaps the same thing happened to a engineer and he was transformed while in the chair and became the space jockey ;)

But then how did the eggs get there?

Based on that one frame, I can already tell I would have liked Prometheus 2 better than Covenant.

I like how they made inside ananatomy for the Neomorph Carapace & The Ovomorph (pictured in an earlier post).

Awesome pictures. Thanks!

I think Carlos Huante's Neomorph is much better than the movie. A kinda mix of Wayne Barlowe's art and Giger. The Neomorph in the movie was so uninteresting.
