Gamera: Guardian of the Universe

Official Plot Synopsis

After coming in close contact with a floating atoll, Marine officer Yoshinari Yonemori joins a research team lead by Naoya Kusanagi to uncover its mysteries. Another research team lead by ornithologist Mayumi Nagamine discovers giant, carnivorous birdlike creatures attacking a village in the Goto Archipelago. Soon the atoll erupts with a giant turtle, known as Gamera, created by an advanced, ancient civilization to protect the planet from Gyaos-- The birdlike creatures. Yoshinari's daughter Asagi becomes psychically linked with Gamera who needs her energy to defeat the Gyaos. The research teams combine efforts to help Gamera save mankind.

Directed by Shusuke Kaneko, Gamera: Guardian of the Universe is a Daiei movie based on a screenplay by Kazunori Ito.
